Sidwell Set for January Loan Deal!

After, earlier this month, reporting that Roy Keane was looking to take Steve Sidwell to Sunderland, it appears there are now other clubs also actively seeking to sign our midfield player.

After only making six Premier League starts since his arrival in the summer, Sidwell hasn`t perhaps got off to the start he`d anticipated at Chelsea.

With a plethora of world class midfield stars at Stamford Bridge it was never going to be easy. In fact, it was always anticipated that January, when Mikel and Essien are on African Nations Cup duty, would be the time for the ex-Reading man to make his mark.

However, his lack of first team opportunities appears, if the rumours are correct, to have alerted several clubs to the possibility that he could be persuaded to cut his ties with Chelsea.

Surprisingly, one of these appears to the very club he left to join us, Reading.

A mere six months after quitting the Madejski Stadium it`s being suggested that Steve Coppell would love to take him back, possibly on a loan deal.

Also, it would seem that Portsmouth and Newcastle have also expressed an interest in signing a player who rejected a contract at Reading that would have seen him become their highest paid player.

We here at Vital Chelsea would suggest that Avram Grant and his backroom team may well have a difficult decision to make come January.

Do they let Sidwell leave or do they persevere in the hope that he will make the impact many thought he might?
