'If It's Football, It's Vital'

And the next one is?

Who is next up?

With John Terry injured, Didier Drogba injured, Frank Lampard injured and Ricardo Carvalho suspended, we like to canvass your opinion.

We have a dilemma!

Who do you believe will wear the captains` armband in the next couple of games?

Would you go for Michael Ballack to complete a sensational return or is there someone else?

Your thoughts please!

Joey Cole go the armband in the last match. I'd love Sheva to get it, to improve his confidence, but it makes sense for either Cech or Essien to get it.
Blu Soulja
no, wayne bridge will get the armband and too be it honest the guy deserves it..has outshined ashley cole since the day he arrived.
essientric
I think Cech or Essien as well. Both have calm heads on their shoulders, unlike Joe or Ashley Cole, who are both a little immature to be captain, IMO. I could see Ballack doing it, he's had quit alot of experience, after all. But it just seems that those who have been at Chelsea longer, such as Cech, Essien, or even Bridge, should really get that honor before Ballack does.

I would say Joe Cole becuase I like him, but I think Cech, Essien or even Ballack would be a better choice.
Fan of Blues
Ballack for me. Been there done it before.
Adilson
We've got quite a few national captains haven't we? Ballack, Sheva, JT, Drogs, Pizza. Ballack has the most experience of carrying a team though.
Blu Soulja
Petr Cech. End of story.
Jasix
I repeat Bridgey..he has been loyal to us..i am mean he even agreed to play for fulham to regain his fitness, now that is a sacrifice of a true leader and a wonderful guy.
essientric
I don't think someone who isn't in the first team will get the armband. Cech and Essien have always been solid, they've never let us down (almost never). But Ballack is the most qualified. PLEASE give it to Sheva though!!! He can handle the responsibilty and I'm sure it will help him.
Blu Soulja
Has any other club had so many international captains in the squad at the same time?
merlin
I'm not sure Cech would be a good choice. Whilst I admire the senior status suggestion does a keeper ever make a good captain?
merlin
Kahn was a great captain for Germany.
Blu Soulja
Mostly because if you didn't do what he wanted, he would have killed you. That would inspire obedience and loyalty in me, I can tell you. ;p

Wayne Bridge is our third choice captain, Drogba is fourth, Makelele is fifth I think. So, yes, it will be Wayne Bridge. For the love god, Joe Cole as captain? He's not captaincy material.
k_chelski
essien.
Lindy
That's he's not, k_!

Essien or Petr makes sense. But to boost morale, go for Shevo or Ballack, they´ve got what it takes, no doubt.
Blue is the colour
why give it to sheva? id give it to cech as he has been ther for a while now and is a big player
MrDax
Essien deserves the band.
rslack
Because it'd boost his confidence. You can see that taking that penalty really helped him. I think he'd thrive on the responsibility.
Blu Soulja
Being a captain is more than just having experience in leadership. Ballack is an excellent player, but a month ago people here were wanting him traded. my, how things change! anyway, Ballack hasn't earned the priviledge yet. Essien should have it.
RadioactiveD
i wud give it 2 ballack purely cos it doesnt make any sense handin it over to essien @ dis juncture...hez gonna depart for ACN soon enuff wich means we will have 2 reappoint another one....so i wud rather have some1 maintain some long term stabilty!
livincorpse
No question about it; Joe Cole. It's not simply a reward to a great player, it has more to do with his leadership capabilities and a winning personality. If Joe Cole was to be injured, the only other player I know that come close to act as the team adhesive are Cudicini (the old man). (Wayne Bridge is also a loyal fellow with a very English feel to him, but he comes out too young and aggressive I think to transfer that calming, authoritative feeling.) In a year, possibly Ballack may have become "one of the team" to an extent allowing him to play on his presence.
Maestrinho
I completely disagree, Maestrinho. Joe Cole, though he possesses talent if he is disciplined enough to let it come out, is too selfish and immature to be the captain of Chelsea. What leadership capabilities? He may have a winning personality, but that isn't nearly enough. Essien or Cech, all the way.
entertainmentwh
temporary captain? i'm not even convinced he should be a starter.
RadioactiveD
give it to ballack or sheva. ballack has all the quality to captain chelsea. sheva to boost his confidence i think most of his problems has been psychologically.this would help sheva a great deal.
kaybee
I'm sure Sheva just loves that here at VC, he has several on call psychologists to help him with his needs. ;p
entertainmentwh
He DESERVES all the help he can get, are you going to deny him that?
Blu Soulja
Nope, not at all. I was just pointing out that so many are going on and on about his psychological needs. If you're Sheva, that can't feel good. Or at least, I wouldn't think it can.
