AGUERO TO CHELSEA?!

ATLETICO MADRID last night opened the way for Chelsea to sign Sergio Aguero for a whopping £42million.

Personally I am massive fan of Aguero and he is an absolute raw talent than can get better.

The Spanish club are ready to listen to offers for their star player, who is only 21, and we will lead the chase - if our transfer ban is lifted on appeal, or indeed as I reported a couple of days ago, it is frozen.

The Argentina superstar, known as 'Kun', would provide more-than-adequate cover for ACON when we will probably lose Drogba and Kalou from our striking options, and Aguero would slot in rather nicely in my opinion.

And Atletico director Miguel Angel Gil Marin confirmed: 'Chelsea offered £42m for Kun and Real Madrid bid £33m for Diego Forlan. If they want a new horizon, Atletico will evaluate it.'

Aguero is not able to play for another club in the Champions League this term, but despite the high price, surely a player of this class, when we will be lacking in options of true quality up front during ACON, is a viable option?

Ray Wilkins added fuel to the fire in saying: And he said: 'We are naturally concerned about the quality of the players we will be losing to the African Nations Cup in January.

'Any team in the country would miss four players of the calibre of Drogba, Essien, Kalou and Mikel.

'It would be very pleasant to be allowed to bring people in during January - and there are certainly a few names out there that Carlo would like to sign.

Anyone else like to see 'Kun the WhizzKid' at Stamford Bridge? I know I bloody would! I know the money is excessive, but you have to pay that amount to secure really world class players. Aguero is definitely one of those and my message to Roman is - 'Your club needs you - dig deep old chum!'

Trade them Kalou.
Seabourch
well that seems a good idea, but i would prefer another quality midfielder who can fill essiens boots ,and another playmaker joe cole is a wizard but we need more than tricks.deco in his prime was great but still he is not the same bullied too easily off the ball ..i would prefer mesut ozil,de rossi and a wonderkid from anywhere in europe may be the kid which zidane tipped for real .....
haji ahmed
Yeap, I would even meet his buy out clause to get him. He is the most promising player in the world, and, in contrast to so many others, he is available. We have to take that chance.
chelsey
I dont get all the excitement over this kid. Sure he's only 21 but I heard he demands huge wages and thats crazy money for a transfer fee too. I also have big question marks abt his attitude and his durability over a long Prem season. Finally, everytime I watch the kid, he doesnt live up to the hype. I think the Blues would be better off heading in another direction unless we can get him on the cheap. Finally, I hate when CFC makes these proclamatins that the side we have is not deep enough. It must send a ripple all the way down to the Academy and give hope to our opponents. I'd just say that we plan to add a player or 2...whether we do or not. Then if you add 3 or 4, then you just admit that 'you're always looking to upgrade your side and these are deals we couldnt refuse...' How am I doing for PR? LOL
blues first
chelsey: YOU would even meet his buy-out clause? Man, you must have deep pockets or are you 1 of those people who likes to spend other people's money? LOL, just joking...
blues first
The most promising player in world football? That is probably true.

Not worth the money,How about another argentine whizzkid, one year younger, taller, stronger, pacey and a fraction of the price.Di santo! Give the lad a chance.he is a target man and can partner nico up front, with studge and borini in the wings also they should get good service.matic is strong and buildt for this league.im sure bally, deco, matic, lamps and belletti can see us through.give them game time now so not to be thrown in the deep end when needed .besides you guys said sometime back that our list of fixtures in jan aint bad. .
Chelsea24/7
I personally am with Dutts on this and would love to see him in the Blue of Chelsea. Quality act and would certainly add something to our squad. Yes, £50m is a high price, but unfortunately that is the going rate these days. We're going to be under considerable pressure to buy if the ban is frozen, so we will probably have to end up paying over the odds for anyone we do target.
timcfc
for drog we got:Di santo, mitrovic, lalkovic,Prosnik,Tore all big lads. For Kalou:Borini,Studge. Mikel:Matic,Belleti. Essien-...um,bruma or paulo in the holding role? Obviously we cant replace those going but we'll survive.
Chelsea24/7
How many goals has this guy scored in the Spanish league so far? Reputation is one thing. Whether he can deliver is a different story.
Blue Day
I can honestly say that this season hasn't been his best but I think this is because he is tired of Atletico being rubbish. Watch him in big games (against Barca last season 4-3 he scored twice) where he clearly cares. Obiously this puts question marks over his attitude but honestly when are we going to be as bad/poor as atletico?
bluethrough
1.Juan Roman Riquelme(midfielder) 2.Arda Turan(midfielder) 3.Bastian Schweinsteiger(midfielder) 4.simone rolfes(midfielder) 5.mesut ozil(midfielder) 6.daniel de rossi(midfielder) 7.sergio aguero(striker) 8.Miguel Veloso(midfielder) 9.hatem ben afra(striker) 10.marek hamsik(midfielder) any one of these would be fine hope we sign some one from the list hehehe
haji ahmed
Not sure whether i would want him at Chelsea.Class player ,true, but 50m and too big a wage bill , no way.Like some one else said above, give Di Santo the chance.Lets take some risks for a change.
blueKnightz09
Ya we need a striker in january and for future. But above 40m for him would be insane. If Liverpool manage to get eliminated early in cl we could give Torres a try. Else we should go for Dzeko. He is a super finisher we lack. Agralbahor would also be a good buy keeping the new rules in mind. For the midfield, we need players to replace likes of Ballack, Lampard, Deco in future. We should go for two of Ozil, Moutinho, Hamsik, Adam Johnson, Dzagoev and loan em bak. That way they will get registered with us and we would have to pay less. Also our wage bill also wont go up. This is a desperate situation. If the ban is frozen then we should do the best we can coz you never know.
Diego_rodriguezz
Remember the UK transfer record is still”only” £32m for Robinho. So 50 or even 42 million quid imo, is way too much – even if his name is Il Kun! (We shouldn’t let Real Madrid be price setters) I mean if Citeh are offering us Robinho for 20-25, sounds like a safer bet to me....! Or even better Anelka, Sturrigde, Di Santo, Borini = £0
JoeyCole
He's far too faw to warrant the price tag! He'll be a flop!
TOPDROG11
*raw*
TOPDROG11
Torres was untested in Premiership - very similar players..... How much for Torres now?
djdutts
No, absolutely not. Di Santo all the way. Aguero was nowhere to be seen against Chelsea (wink wink). :) .. Srlsy, no way, not for that money.
zg2000fs
The key here is to sign in January--before the ACN. Atletico won't survive in La Liga the way they're currently playing. I don't think they can afford to sell Aguero in January.
RadioactiveD
Torres is well built. And please dont mention that low CG thing. He looked awful week back against Iva. And no Robinho. Go for Dzeko. Hulk also looks great. Has got physical strength + skills + pace and speaks portuguese
Diego_rodriguezz
Aguero- What a signing that would be!!!
JT_daniel
He speaks Portugese? We have to sign him them :) In all seriousness, Atletico are skint. Broke. No money. By these comments, they are obviously keen to sell, and if we *need* to buy players in January, it all kinda makes sense.... Aguero to Chelsea!
djdutts
Hulk wont cost that much plus with his size he is more suited to epl. As of Sergio, Athletico want money and they are well aware that we want a young striker like Sergio to be able to withstand possible ban. They would make the most of it. We would have to buy him out for 55m which is crazy.
Diego_rodriguezz
As soon as the player is offered to the entire world in this public manner, it is a sure thing he is headed elsewhere. If we truly bid 42M for him and didn't get him, something is wrong - either the club doesn't want to sell to Chelsea or the player doesn't want to come here. Isn't he the player who allegedly demanded 200K in weekly wages? If that's the case, we don't need him.
Drogstark
At least we aren't clamoring for David Villa anymore...
Drogstark
Athletico are trying to tempt us into clearing their damn debts being aware of own situation. Cant you people get it?
Diego_rodriguezz
re: haji ahmed - no way would riquelme be good enough for the premiership any more. he's mid 30s, slower than deco and didn't cut it at barca when was there.
nar86
Go with zg on this one; he was close to invisible against us in the CL-clash; he had 2 chances; on the first one he didn't manage to get his toe on the ball on the far post after a low cross, on the second he wasted a clear shot on Cech. Well, if we could trade them Kalou for him, sure, but not to pay that silly amount of money.
Maestrinho
if we sign him a few of our young players are going to leave.
Tat
Even though the ACN only lasts from the 10-31 Jan, we still need to prepare for the ban & accommodate injuries. Players like fx. Di Rossi, Gourcuff, Veloso, Eden Hazard are high on my list.
JoeyCole
haji ahmed - I see you're all for buying English talent then
Gleeson_23
True... who do you prepose Glee? :) Jack Rodwell sounds interesting.
JoeyCole
With ACN coming the only players we r gonna miss r Drogba and Essien...Kalou and Mikel are not starters..Remember we have won all our CL games without Drogba...so why would we want to buy another player during January?I don't think we have any important match against a top side coming up that month.
samuraisuraj
propose* even...
JoeyCole
He's one for the future but he's been quite enough this season - the thing we all need to remember is that we have to have 7 (i think, can't remember how many now) youth team players in a squad of 23/24 next season - we need to look closer to home and buy player who are established but young/home grown. I will admit, I do agree with the AGUERO signing. Saw him the other night and he is quick and sharp. I think he'd be lethal if he played for Chelsea
Gleeson_23
samuraisuraj - Essien & Mikel play the same holding position. Who will fill the back of the diamond?
Gleeson_23
@gleeson..I believe Ballack can quite smoothly slot into that position..But I may be wrong..Still we've got Matic who is a DM rt?Or we can simply use Belletti..
samuraisuraj
Ah Belletti, he would be a good option. Is Matic a DM? Surely not, he hardly would have come to play behind Ess & Mikel
Gleeson_23
@Chelsea24/7: I don't want to suggest that Di Santo, Mitrovic, Prosnik and Borini are bad players (because they are not), but they are not on the same level as Agüero, and probably never will be. Agüero managed to attract the entire football world at the age of 19, scoring 19 goals for Atletico in one season. Considering his age, this record is outstanding. The last season was impressive as well. Besides, I do not think that there will be any problems regarding his height. He might be small, but he is also well-built. Last Wednesday, he looked solid against Terry, who, which we should not forget, is the best defender in Europe. He was quick and technically impressive. His massive talent could allow him to become on of the best players in the world in a few years. With all due respect, but that is something I do not expect of any of those that you have mentioned. If there is the slightest opportunity of bringing Agüero to Chelsea, we should seize it.
chelsey
I don't think there's any truth in this story plus the fact that we certainly don't need him. Drogba, Anelka, Kalou, Sturidge, Di Santo, Borini. I prefer us spending money on a winger and possibly a creative midfielder. De Rossi is a great player but I can't see him leaving Roma.
nimz
This chap would be fantastic for Chelsea, regardless of how bad he was against us the other week. The chap is strong, pacey, skillful and a lethal finisher. I truly believe he would be a sensation at Chelsea. Imagine Drogba and him up front......awesome.
Zbam
I wanted us to sign him in the summer but after watching Di Santo impress for Blackburn I want to see him given the best possible chance to feature when he comes back! Aguero will hinder the progress of Sturridge, Di Santo and Borini!
TOPDROG11
Guys acon is not the main problem. The problem is that fecking fifa ban. We dnt know yet whether it is reduced or not. Therefore ban freeze in jan would be great opportunity for us to buy stock for future just in case. In my opinions we ll need atleast 1 young forward and 2 proper central mids only to cope with bans
Diego_rodriguezz
Let's get one thing straight - £50m is not the 'going rate' for a decent striker these days. Just because Real and City have inflated the market with their summer spending, doesn't mean we have to be suckered into throwing our own money around in the same way in January. I don't think we particularly need Aguero, don't think he's worth anywhere near £50m, and don't think it makes any sense in signing him. Didn't Diego Forlan (remember him?) outscore Aguero last season?
daspecial1
daspecial1: one can argue that Aguero is also a great provider hence Forlan's goal scoring record.
Diego_rodriguezz: Aguero is not one for future. he's already a big star and won't sit on the bench to get a chance in future. I think we will even have problems with Di Santo and Sturidge next season if they don't get regular first team action.
nimz
We should've bought Sneijder in the summer....damn you José!
Bluephoot Cat
I predict one of either Di Santo or Sturridge will be moved on in eighteen months time!
merlin
I dont have problems with Aguero provided he comes for less amount. And definitely he will demand starts and increase competition. We could also offer Kalou to be able to give youngsters chances. I personally feel Dzeko or Hulk or Agralbahor would be a decent buy. Keep in mind our 2 main strikers are in 30s and others are underdevelopment plus there is a possibility that our ban is upheld. So january ban freeze is a great chance. But in jan price tag is usually 1.5 or even 2x times more than normal . Also dont forget what Madrid and Citeh have done. Romans goin to have a very difficult time.
Diego_rodriguezz
Move the decimal point and I'd go for it but not for £40+ million, that is ridiculous. Obviously I know you can't judge a player on one game but the player I saw last week at SB looked much more a £4.2m man that a £42m man! For that money then I am being perfectly honest when I say that I would rather see the like of Sturridge and Borini get a go.
SpanishBlue
lets not forget, athletico sold torres cause they had this kid coming up. they rated him above torres when they were on the same squad. that tells you something.
sirhCRocks
Did you expect him to outplay us on his own in front of our crowd? Does he have an Essien, a Lampard, a Ballack or a Terry in his team to support him? Sorry, SpanishBlue, but calling somebody who scores 19 goals in the Prim Division at the age of 19 a 4,2m man is quite inappropriate (even if it is just your way of showing that you absolutely do not want our club to spend 50m on him). Agüero did quite well actually.
chelsey
It's quite a dilemma we're in. If the transfer ban is actually lifted, are we planning on buying in preparation of the entire upcoming season? Or are we merely looking for a little depth preceding the ACN? I could think of a number of players who I feel are potential Chelsea quality, and while Aguero is a talent, he's too expensive; I fear he'd be destined to fail at that cost.
RadioactiveD
Yes please.
blubyyou
Aguerro would be welcomed into most teams in Europe I think. As for Di Santo, I see him as a replacement for Drogba. So powerful for his age. He could play well alongside an Aguerro type player. I just hope Di Santo has the patience to wait as Didier still has a good couple of seasons in him. Hopefully he will be given enough play to keep him happy.
londonfc
Would I like Aguero? Yes! Would I risk losing Di Santo for him? No. It is time we nurtured a CF every other team wants rather than just buying one. Di Santo is a genuine prospect for that imo. Kakuta is another player of that calibre, although not the same position.
londonfc
I have always wanted Aguero. Atletico it appears will need the dosh.......no other mega club is in the picture to my mind at the moment...so offer 35 million top....and let them sweat!
mutters
Kun? Sweeeeeet...But 40m+? No thank you very much! Come on, give the youngsters chances. Borini, Di Santo and Sturridge are both freaking talented FFS. Get us Dzagoev and job done.
Lee.F
Stick with Di Santo,Borini and Sturridge.
blueKnightz09
Can't see it happening, don't like the prospect of paying way over the odds either.
Osgood_Spirit
@Lee.F Totally agree with you. If you buy a 40m+ player you have to give him 100k+/week wage and guarantee to be a regular starter. Chelsea team is built on the tactical discipline that does not allow exceptions when it comes down to team defending and winning the ball back. As i've seen Aguero can be great when he is on the ball but not even trying when team is gaining ball possesion back. This Chelsea team does not accept such player.
#13
We'd accept Torres tho?
djdutts
And Joe Cole was AWFUL at tracking and tackling back until Mourinho grabbed hold of him. At his age (21) he can be taught these basic thing, he just needs the right manager to tell him defending is everyone's job - if you lose possession, go and win it back. Aguero is an AWESOME talent - one of the best in the world.
djdutts
Ain't gonna happen! Stop dreaming guys ;) We got what we need!
Rune3k
@djdutts... JC was a young unprofiled player and very lucky to be adviced by an unique Manager. Aguero would come as a reinforcement with added value in the attack. Such profiled player has usually problems with sacrificing their individual offensive qualities in order to become better at defending.
#13
You have misunderstood me a bit chelsey. Basically I wasn't too impressed with what I saw the other day. As I said, I know I can't judge on that alone but I haven't seen much of him and I've never seen him look that sensational. That doesn't mean he isn't (I've never seen Totti look that good but I'm sure he is!) but if we are talking £42m then yes, I did expect him to be the best player on the pitch and he plainly wasn't. Perhaps if I saw that sometime then I would be prepared to spash the cash but as it stands, I'd be concerned spending more than £20m (which is closer to £4.5m than £42m - I didn't necessarily mean he was only worth £4.5m!). By the way, Michael Ricketts scored a lot of EPL goals one season as a youngster (more prolific than Aguerro last season), glad we didn't spend over £40m on him!!!
SpanishBlue
We have gems itching for the chance aguero was given.Aguero had the benefit of being given 1st team footy at his age and took it.Stoch is gobbling up his chances at twente.Di santo hasn't got much games but he's looked bright even with poor service compared to service offered at athletico. I don't care if any of our strikers dont have the same skill but if they get goals job done.Someone said hulk will be cheap,in fact porto are asking, get this,86mil for him!
Chelsea24/7
aren't we tired of buying known names?????have you alll forgotten fabio borini?????or Disanto???Sturridge???this just doesn't make any sense,he scored all those goals in 1 season because the club actually played him.now, instead of giving our own lads a go,u'r talking of paying 40+mil???WHY????i thought YOu guys said Borini is a natural goalscorer?
alex6
Aguere didn't look too good against us... he is way overpriced.
emigre
I'm not a big fan of breaking transfer records (Sheva, Robinho and Berba all spring to mind when we start talking about breaking the bank). That said, I am all for backing Carletto and watching to see how it works out.
