Chelsea - A Quiet January?

The decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport to suspend the transfer ban imposed upon us by FIFA, until our appeal is heard, is a welcome one.

It`s a victory for common sense, however, for all those who believe it will kick-start a January buying spree, a word of caution from Carlo Ancelotti.

"It`s a decision that gives us the possibility to but new players if it`s necessary, but at the moment it`s not necessary."

"I`m very happy with the squad, these players, and it`s not necessary at the moment to take new players."

"I know we will lose four in January but if we maintain the players` fitness we can do a good period also without the African players. I`ve trained some players until they`re in their 40`s, so these players have a lot of time yet."

So now we know!

I'm not at all worried about January and the ACON. It's next season that the ban will bite (if it's upheld!). We should be thinking 12-18 months ahead when it comes to tranfers in Jan, just as we have tied most big names to new contracts.
stevocfc
ACON is not the end of the world and should not be taken as such. All we will miss is just 4 players. Just 4. Drogba did not play at all for 3 CL matches and we had 100% record. Essien and Mikel has Ballack, Belletti, Joe Cole, Feriera, Deco, etc to replace them. Kalou also can be replaced by other quality players. so what is the shout about? somebody pls tell me.
teepie
Its so we can buy players now in case this silly ban is upheld.
Zbam
I would like to see some players come in this January because of the ban Zbam.
Seabourch
If you'd look at the tabloids, you'd think this ban freeze is just what we were waiting for before signing half the players in Europe. Its nice to have the option but I don't think we need too much.Remember,Di Santo comes back in January and he's been superb for Blackburn.Maybe a defensive midfielder to cover for the absence of both our premier players for that position (Essien and Mikel).Whether we buy or not may also depend on whether or not our lawyers think we can win the appeal at CAS.
JT is God
Ancelotti is being coy here, I guarantee it. We'll sign players if there's even a semblance of a chance we won't get our ban overturned.
RadioactiveD
the fact that chelsea wanted this appeal tells you that they will buy, they have to because the could face an embargo after january, simple really!!

Carlo knows best I guess!!! My list is not too long though Aguero, Pato, Fabiano, Robinho and Villa
kdnachi
Any two would do!!!

The club needs to bring in some players. If the ban is upheld then we definatly need some fresh legs coming into the side. No marquee signings just a few talented players that can grow into the first team and replace the older players. Both our strikers are 30+ so its time to find replacments. Di santo is good but we need proven quality. I'd be happy with Drezko and Gomis
SKS
He's hardly going to reveal his plans and drive up market inflation, we'll have to be sneaky if we want to pull off any decent deals :-)
Osgood_Spirit
I agree with SKS and Osgood. I do believe that we need to bring in a couple players to compensate for the ANC: 1 midfldr and a striker. If we bring in the young keeper, we're set there and in defense for now. Maybe Merlin has some input into this but I've observed that when our contingent come back from the ANC it takes awhile to get back up to speed. They appear tired, flat and struggling for fitness. I also notice that Essien seems to lose his focus B4 he goes off to ANC. So much depends on these guys and it must be a strain on them to play well for their countries. So, with all this in mind, I think we need a proven player or 2 to compensate. I agree with Osgood too. Carlo may be engaging in some 'sneaky' posturing leading up to the transfer wdw...keeping his cards close to his chest...to borrow a cliche...
blues first
I am pretty sure we'll buy atleast 2 players. They wont be that stupid to not to take any sort of precaution against a plausible one or two window ban. That would be suicidal.
blueKnightz09
Di Maria's being subjected to a 30 mill bid from Citeh. Oh well, that's the end of our interest in him.
JT_daniel
So let's get Dzagoev!!! He is an AMF! He supports Chelsea and is a fan of Lampard! And I think he is not that expensive =)
Nika
In essence Carlo is right, we don't have to spend and we are doing well. It's also worth noting that we have a good selection of games when the ACON is on and the players should cope, but what, and this is just a what....What if once January is over we then lose the case. We'll probably still have to serve a 2 window ban, meaning that our players will be 6 months older than they would have been had we of just served the ban. Unfortunately I think we will have to buy and also sell in this window. This is an ideal (possibly only) opportunity to strengthen and provide quality replacements for a few players. That said.....This is just my view!
aslaram
Carlo is insisting we might not buy.But i think thats just precaution.
