Chelsea - Agreeing With John Terry - But!

I have to say the allure of the international between England and Brazil mostly passed me by yesterday.

I`m not saying I didn`t bother tuning in but in all honesty I wouldn`t have objected if the wife had asked to turn it over.

With the Chelsea contingent dropping out on a regular basis I just didn`t get the urge to give it my all.

However, having said that, I have to say that although Brazil boast some decent footballers, I wouldn`t be too afraid if England were to be drawn against then in a knockout game in the South Africa 2010 World Cup.

Seeing their team made up of a motley collection of names we`ve come across in the Premier League and Champions League doesn`t faze me at all.

Therefore, I have to say that I agree with the comments (below) made by John Terry in the aftermath of the friendly,

"I don`t think Brazil are anything to worry about."

"Don`t get me wrong. I`m not saying they aren`t a good side, but I think we have the qualities to be among the best in the world."

"They have their weaknesses, just like we have."

"On a different night, with a few more players back, we could have done better."

I`m sure England could but I`ll also state now, neither England or Brazil will be the ones t walk away with the trophy, the simple truth is neither are good enough!

Who`s good enough to win, then? Spain? lol.

don't write them off!

I'd say Spain! Germany, Brazil and England are good too. Actually it's fun to watch some underdogs (e.g. Denmark, Serbia and Russia) try to make it to the last four!

Under Capello, England were thoroughly outplayed by Spain, France, Brazil, and could only draw with Holland at home. They beat Germany's kids but apart from that it's been average performances against awful-to-decent sides.

Honestly the ones to watch are the Ivory Coast. Looking immense this year, with Drogba, Kalou, The Toure's and more

england wont win the world cup as were clueless when it comes to keeping the ball. i have to say brazil spain final for me. i also think ivory coast are dark horses.
MrDax
Spain are untouchable. Fabregas on the bench ffs. Torres and Villa upfront. Xavi and Iniesta in the middle. Wowzer

Seems England are in trouble with this inability to beat the big teams, unless they manage to avoid them until the final.

Spain,Germany,Ivory Coast,Brazil - i would go for any of these. If Maradona was not the manager,i would've added Argentina too.

I'll comment on this after the WC! :-)

It grieves me to say that whatever side England put out, the major stumbling block is an inability to match sides on a technical level of ball control, one touch distribution, and extrovert imagination. What really worries me is that this is sometimes even evident against some of the so called lesser teams. That Brazil side were nothing special....but they could quite easily have tonked us 3-0!....and then the tabloids really would have had apoplectic fits today!!

I am a die hard Brazil fan. Hope they not do WC2006 this time. Current form and results say Dunga is doing a good job. Brazil!!

what do you mean? Spain is definetly 'touchable' i used to think they werent too but like all teams they have a weakness and were lacklustre on a couple of times.I think the world cup's up for grabs anyone can take it.too bad cech was left behind
Chelsea24/7
In many ways Spain is our 'alter ego'...technically top draw...but a serious lack of 'Cojones' when the chips are down. History proves it.
mutters
I think a hell of a lot depends on England's bigger players (ie. Rooney, Lampard, Gerrard) turning up and gelling together in South Africa in the summer.

Most important thing is that we have a Manager with more than half a brain for a change. He recognises our stregths and weaknesses and adapts accordingly. I think we have a chance but there are probably a good 7 or 8 nations who genuinely have a chance
