Chelsea - Cudicini Will Make a Full Recovery!

What with our article on Gus Poyet, and now this one, we could be collectively accused of erring towards something of a Spurs themed day!

Heaven forbid!

Nevertheless, I`m sure I`m not the only Chelsea supporter whose been eagerly scanning the news for any updates on the injuries suffered by our former goalkeeper, Carlo Cudicini, who was unfortunate enough to be forced to use a Ford Fiesta as an instant stop aid in Walthamstow last week.

Naturally, the scurrilous, amongst the press are looking for angles to stir it with the implication that Carlo shouldn`t have been riding a motorbike being banded around and needless to say one journalist, the purer than the driven snow Stan Collymore, has thrown his hat into the ring by implying Carlo should be sacked by Spurs for breach of contract.

Thankfully though, away from the bitter press eager to concentrate on scandal, the news remains encouraging. Now in a private hospital Carlo has had surgery on his wrists and pelvis and is recovering and the signs that he will make a full recovery are very encouraging with the Spurs assistant manager, Kevin Bond, remarking

"He will be on crutches for a time and all being well he will make a full recovery."

Splendid news; lets hope that whilst he`s on crutches he can be induced to visit Stamford Bridge because despite playing for the other lot he still demands the greatest of respect from the vast majority of Chelsea supporters.

Glad for Carlo but I'm annoyed with the press. As always. Papers sell faster if the player's career is over, which was said about Carlo. Lamps is out for two months, no, three weeks. Van Persie out for three months, no, six weeks. It goes on and on. All embellishments of half-truths.

Such good news, was a horrible initial message about "potentially life-threatening injuries" - why say things like that? Anyway, he should make a full recovery and that is all that matters!
SpanishBlue
Can't blame the press for that quote, SB. I believe that was said by a police spokesperson at the time of the accident. And I'm glad I wasn't the only one disgusted by Collymore's stupid article about Carlo - as if he's got any moral high-ground from which to judge from!

I hope they don't sack him but if they do, he might be able to play for a couple of years if he makes a full recovery at some top club but if you do choose Carlo, pick one us Chelsea fans don't hate!
Seabourch
I'd be more than happy to see us pick him up, if Sp*rs do decide to give him the sack.

Absolutely ds1, for a change the Press actually reported what was said accurately. Still think it was a stupid comment to make though, whoever said it! Colleymore can be a sanctamonious tw*t and has absolutely no right whatsoever to take any moral high ground. His timing stank on that although if Carlo wasn't supposed to be on a bike, then he was a silly boy regardless of the fact that he was an innocent victim of an accident. I don't actually blame clubs for this sort of clause either. I knew someone who broke both wrists and did a lot of damage coming off a bike at about 2mph. He was a skilled craftsman so not good news. I have never heard of such serious injuries incurred from such a minor accident in a car so it is not unreasonable for Clubs to want their highly paid assets to travel as safely as possible and that ain't by motorbike.
SpanishBlue
By the look of the car involved afterwards, Carlo certainly weren't doing 2mph!
daspecial1
Yep, the car's side was completely trashed! He was on a superbike too.
