Chelsea - Anelka New Deal!

The word from the red-top Sunday tabloids is that Nicolas Anelka is about to join those at Stamford Bridge who are in the £100,000+ a week pay bracket.

Although Anelka has some eighteen months left on his contract Chelsea are keen to tie the striker to a new deal.

Since joining Chelsea, ironically as a January transfer window purchase, a window that generally provides cries of panic buying Anelka has proven he is a class striker.

In fact Anelka seems to have found his spiritual home or as he puts it,

"I hope to sign a new contract soon. I am very happy at Chelsea. I have found a home."

"Ever since I left Real Madrid I wanted to find a big club again and I have with Chelsea."

"It is a big club with big players."

"I feel I am playing the best football of my career and want to carry on playing my best days with Chelsea."

Here at Vital Chelsea we`ve long given up when it comes to the outrageous salaries the stars earn these days but we do recognise outstanding talent when we see it as does Carlo Ancelotti who has raved about Anelka, remarking,

"I am very happy for him, he is a big surprise."

"I knew him before I came here, I know his qualities. But now it is different."

"I always thought he was an individual player but instead he plays very well for the team. He is a top player and usually they play for themselves, not for the team."

"He understands what I want and he helps the midfield to play. Also his understanding and feeling with Didier Drogba is very good. They have made a lot of assists for each other."

Something tells me that new contract is a foregone conclusion!

Best dribbler we have at the club. The way he`s playing is amazing, full of confidence.

Hope he scores today.

There goes another 2 years in our plans for breaking even. :( anyway nic deserves it, i think.

Didier is on £100k-a-week, hardly fair that Anelka gets more than him is it! I like Anelka - he does what Emile Heskey does with England) for Chelsea - only better! My only concern is that partnering two oldies upfront can only go downhill....if we are on the verge of signing a 21-year-old, (as rumours suggest), what will happen to Les Sulk?

top players deserve to retire at top clubs, most players regret leaving, like becks.by the time drog & nico retire studge, borini & di santo will be 23,not bad.we'll slowly play them in while slowly letting drog/nic out in a couple years.

Outstanding news. When he first came to the club I wasn't so thrilled. I was totally wrong about his work ethic, in particular.

top class display today - chuffed to bits with his contribution!
merlin
thought he was great today aswell, although would have liked to see him pull the trigger from distance a little more often.
