'If It's Football, It's Vital'

A Hiddink Style Run is all that`s Needed!

The win, on Sunday, against Stoke, has certainly lifted the mood on the site!

Whilst there`ll always be some posters who`ll go down the 'Doom and Gloom` route the vast majority are a little more upbeat after the horrific dip in emotions following the 4-2 blitz by Manchester City.

Our FA Cup run may have seen us drop to second in the title race and we may, arguably, face the hardest run-in of the three title contenders but our fate remains, unlike other seasons, in our own hands.

Around about this time last season, a certain Guus Hiddink had taken over the managerial reins and Chelsea were to embark on a run that was to prove that there was a certain something about the squad. The run, saw Spurs inflict the only defeat upon us.

A similar run, from her-on in, could see the 2009/2010 squad covered in similar accolades to that of the back-to-back title winning sides, all that has to be done is to strike up another decent unbeaten run whereby wins far outweigh draws.

It`s a point that Frank Lampard has picked up on and after the triumph against Stoke, Frank remarked in an interview with the media,

"We had a great run-in last year and let`s hope we do it again. We`ve certainly got it in us."

"Every team has faltered at times this year. It`s important now and the team that pushes forward and goes on a consistent run can go and win the league and do what they want."

"Consistency and having a winning habit is very important. We need to take that from our FA Cup win against Stoke."

So, no stuttering this Saturday lads when a few familiar faces pitch up at Stamford Bridge in strange shades of claret and blue!

I like the optimism from Lamps, drawing on our great run from last year will be good motivation but unfortunately our run-in now compared to last season is so much more difficult! United, Liverpool, Spurs all away and Villa at home, games where we could so easily drop points! My head tells me it will prove to be too difficult but I will continue to support them till the end and i'll never give up hope, even though it's slim! Chelsea till I die even if they faulter!
TOPDROG11
Well put, Lamps and merlin. We cannot afford any more slip-ups in the league. For me, the league is more important than the Champions league. It would be a good season if we won it back.
JT is God
ten wins and it's simple -we're champions!
merlin
Get that message engraved on each & every players' brain.Dont get complacent. So long as we show the hunger & vigor in each game the title is ours!
Chelsea24/7
Come on boys, i know Hiddink was a breath of fresh air but if that's what they need then open the dressing room doors and let the air flow through!
LamparDrogbAnelKalou
I’m sorry "merlin" but it’s not simple, Chelsea has a tendency to let everything slip through their fingers when we are on top for some reason. I don't see the hunger for success anymore, no winning mentality. I just feel sorry for Ivanovic , he is by far the best player in a Chelsea shirt this season. The rest are inconsistent.
BluesManCFC
Merlin, the reason why some of us are so 'doom and gloom' is we have recent history behind us. All we have are domestic Cups to show for the past 3 yrs for the Golden Era of the Roman Empire. CFC have discvrd so many ways to squander oppor'ties to win the CL and the Prem lately that you have to wonder about this grp of players and current and recent mgt. Our side may go down in football history as 1 of the most disapptg clubs in the world of this era. Inexplicably, rah rahs seem to make pathetic excuses for their perf'ces on the pitch...as well as their terrible behaviour off the pitch...that should not be excused or tolerated. Meanwhile, they collect massive wages and have proven that they're nothing better than a glorified cup side. You may call us 'doom and gloomers', but its the rah rahs that need to get their head outta the sand. This grp of players and Carlo and Bruno with his magic bfcase are just not cutting it. Regardless what happens, CFC needs a clear-out of these older players...as well as a few younger ones too...and bring in some young, hungry players who have some pace and skill. The current grp is just not up to it. BluesManCFC is right on with his assessment and its good to see there are a few discerning fans that post here.

We will never win all our remaining games.. but if we can win 7 or 8 we will be champions.. with one of them being against Man u. Man u has a very hard fixture list as well so they will for sure drop some points too. Without Ashley Cole and Essien it might be too hard.. If man u win the league this season they can thank Rooney for staying almost injury free.. They would never have won without him in form all season. Sorry to say but I really hopes he get injured and misses the rest of the season. A bit selfish of me but I want this title so bad! Ofc I want him to be ready for the WC :) And don't forget Arsenal.. They can win it as well tough I think they will slip!

We should have never sold Robbin...What were they thinking?
BluesManCFC
Who's Robbin? What about Batman as well? If you mean Arjen Robben, it was a business decision to sell him as he was too injury prone. Great talent - a genuine attacking winger in the mould of, dare I say it, Ryan Giggs - but he was simply too injury prone.
djdutts
I still think we should have kept him, he brought something to the team that none of our players bring. when he runs with the ball, the defenders lose their minds. His pace, his crosses, his passing, his ability to go through defenders. i understand it was a business decision, but i always believed it was the wrong one. We always say we want Ribery, i've watched a few Bayern games, Robben's better. Oh well atleast Malouda's improved
BluesManCFC
Robben was class, when he was fit. If it was a footballing decision based on quality, he'd have stayed. But I know for a fact he was deemed as too injury prone - if you were running a business, would you pay one of your best employees their wages if they were sick half the time?
djdutts
heard that we are going to have point reductions regarding swp transfer from mancity or a fine and knowing fa i say we will get both if the stories are true
haji ahmed
Robben went not for injuries and not because Chelsea didnt want him....he went because of the same reason Ronaldo left Man utd....to play for Real Madrid. The £20 +million we got was a bonus
springy
yah its like every players dream to play for real madrid ..but ballack chose chelsea over real madrid
haji ahmed
damn we could face point's deduction over Shaun wright phillip's transfer to chelsea for 22.5 million
adrogbafan
^ ?? Where did you get that from adrgobafan?
Haigh_For_7
Ah, I've found it. Yet another media agenda to destabalise Chelsea...
Haigh_For_7
Why bring it up now , with 10 games left
adrogbafan
easier said then done
MrDax
That's it dj. Robben was an excellent addition to the CFC squad and he helped us to win 2 Prem titles. But it was always a matter of whether he was fit, not whether he had the quality or the pace to succeed. In the end, Real came a-calling and it was good biz to let him move on for that lofty sum Rather than signing Robben, I'd prefer somebody of his ilk, not the actual thing. Robben's fitness to play a lotta matches will always be in doubt IMA...
