'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Chelsea - FA Youth Cup Information

Our youngsters have done us proud once again this campaign, after a terrific run in the FA Youth Cup, and are now two matches away from a return to the final.

Standing in their way is the challenge of Blackburn Rovers, in a two-legged semi-final. The decisive second leg sees the Blues with home advantage, at Stamford Bridge.

Despite criticism from some quarters, Chelsea will be charging a very small entrance fee for the Monday 22nd March clash - £3 for adults and just a quid for under-16's and over-65's. There's 3000 seats available in the East Lower and, if you're not too busy in a couple of weeks' time, your support would be greatly appreciated.

Youth team manager Dermot Drummy remarked,

'It'll be good to have some Monday night football at Stamford Bridge for the fans and hopefully they'll see a great game. Having fans at these sorts of matches showing their support is a massive incentive to the boys.'

'It builds their confidence but also gives them a taste of what could potentially be something they'll see week-in-week-out. So it's also good for their development as young professionals.'

'The FA Youth Cup is really important to the team though so any support from the fans would be fantastic and would definitely help spur the boys on.'

The Monday night game follows on from the first leg, to be held at Ewood Park (scene of our only other Cup exit this season!) next Wednesday night.

Speaking from first-hand experience of previous Youth Cup games at the Bridge, I can certainly advocate a trip down the Fulham Road for this one, in what should be a closely-fought battle, and a display of our Chelsea future. Get over to the offical website to find more details on tickets.

I still think to myself, I wonder who suddenly decided Chelsea needed to make a few bucks this time.

it'll just about cover the cost of the floodlite leccy I'd imagine!

so do we put our money straight into the electric meter or hand it over the gate :-)

Juni says it's actually against FA rules to make the game free, so let's have no more stupidity (like the last time) about charging the odd few quid. Do you begrudge it or do you expect budding pros do it for nothing? This is a pro game, unless you need reminding. Bit miffed that they're only using East Lower. A mate tells me that costs (policing?) go up if they expect more than 5000 but that's no excuse for not using West Lower and limiting tickets to 5000. I'm betting it will sell out quickly. I've got my ticket already.
Squiddy
was it not free last round Squiddy?
merlin
last round at SB I mean!
merlin
It was, yes. But apparently that was against FA rules. Chelsea breaking the rules again!

Heres to another final (Hopefully).Imagine both the 1st team & youth team win the fa cup.
Chelsea24/7
If they go through, who can they meet in the final?

SQUIDDY - THERE WE GO AGAIN - AXIS OF EVIL AND ALL THAT!

Newcastle are through in the other semi. They'll have to play the winner from Fulham and Villa.
