Chelsea - Zola Tips Chelsea to Win?

After seeing his side soundly beaten by Chelsea yesterday, the Chelsea legend and current West Ham manager had his say on what is fast turning into the most important night of our season.

With Inter Milan due to arrive in London accompanied by a certain Jose Mourinho, Gianfranco Zola has tipped Chelsea to get one over on their old boss, commenting,

"I think Chelsea have got a big advantage."

"The Premier League is probably more competitive than Serie A and has got a different speed and different quality. I want to see how Inter cope with that."

"Everybody is sharper - it`s as simple as that. Milan, Inter, Roma and Juventus are very good teams but not as sharp as the Premier League teams."

Let`s hope physical and mental sharpness will be enough to see us through!

I am the new guy. I really hope Zola is right.
ACLamp
wellcome ACLamp. Well if I have to put my money on any team progressing through, i'll put it (reluctantly) on Inter. Inter will let in very little and I think our defence hasn't been good for past few months and we will be made to pay dearly for it. I think match will be a draw :(
Taimur
not much of an optimist Taimur, are we? :)
Irish Blue
The fact that Milan are where they are in Serie A gives me great cause for optimism! If an ageing, average side like that can end up in second place only a few points off top then it says it all about the quality!!
mutters
mutters you are absolutely right although trying to get the upper hand hand against Cesar would be difficult
ACLamp
Whoo its definitely gonna be interesting.I'm sure Platini's gonna have a word with the officials before the game.Im optimistic but you have to admit its tough taking on 12 men
Chelsea24/7
Optimistic or not, Chelsea will have to be at their best if we are to progress. No one can make a mistake, from back to front. DD will have to finish every change he's got no more misses like the ones against Barca last year.
Tiraspol
it will be a great contest for sure .Seeing Flo Mo's performance him taking on maicon on the left will be interesting but zirkhov vs maicon will be tough coz zirkhov's defending abilities are a doubt for me
adrogbafan
Who is Inter's best midfielder? Cmbiasso? Surely ours is the stronger one on paper.
ACLamp
Didier will have to finish off chances. anelka will need to be in attack rather than midfield, and Ross Turnbull must have good 90 minutes. Fingers crossed!!
crazyforchelsea
Anelka has got to do something his goalscoring form back .Against stoke he was coming back to life but again against west ham he wasn't so sharp
adrogbafan
I'm slightly more confident after the game yesterday, and talking to a few optimistic souls. Inter really weren't all that in the first leg, but just managed to hold on to the lead for long periods both times they went ahead. It's going to be a great night, that's for sure - one of those special evenings down the Bridge, I hope.

A wonderstrike by cambiasso, a defensive mishap against milito, a stonewall penalty denied, free Kick hitting the crossbar, and our most creative midfielder playing LB, all this while away at the san siro and we still got out 1-2 with a crucial away goal! One has to think we should be able to win this fixture, the lads will be ready!
Cechurself
Inter are in a different league to ourselves....in every sense!
mutters
we should win by 2 goals but with JM as the manager u never know
mrdax
adrogbafan, what are you talkin about? Zhirkov's defending abilities?? he is an excellent player dont know why you doubt him, he doesn't get the chance to play a full game....... and ACLamp, Cambiasso is a better defensive midfielder by a mile over Mikel..........
Blue Mike
Of course Cambiasso's the better mid,he's a decade older than Mikel! The CDM requires a lot experience unless you're playing in spain. We got maka at 30 so mikel will definitely get better with time & more creative too. but the man we need to mark out is sneijder whose their best mid imo.Funny though,I wouldnt have pictured him going to inter of all places.
Chelsea24/7
Mikel had Sniejder in his back pocket at the San Siro.
daspecial1
A mile? Cambiasso's better than Mikel by at least 10 miles. No issues though.
