Chelsea - Heavily in Favour of Mesut Ozil!

Our latest poll, suggested by Vital Chelsea member, ACLamp focussed on the German international Mesut Ozil.

With rumours sweeping the internet that Chelsea were preparing a bid for the young midfielder, ACLamp wanted to know where he`d end up.

Of the votes cast, 83% would quite happily welcome him as our new number ten whilst 13% thought we`d see a repeat of the Robinho situation (whatever happened to him?) and that Manchester City would snatch him at the last minute.

As for the remaining 4%, they went for the no thanks option.

Our thanks got to ACLamp for supplying the poll suggestion, if you`d like to do something similar, just follow the Poll Suggestion link or e-mail me direct.

well i think ozil will be perfect in carlos prefferd 4-4-2 diamond and for those who say he is puny the guy is 6 feet tall...he likes to drift into wide positions from both left and rigth and could provide that x -factor we lack ... we should have swapped pizzaro for him but think pizzaro was given to werder as a present
haji ahmed
Thats a good point Haji,Im sure bremen would like to have good ties with Chelsea and since we pretty much gave them Pizzaro and Ozil's contract is running out im sure they would sell to Chelsea if we offered them enough.
ThatShevchenkoGoal
What I would like to find out however, is how would you play Mesut and Lampard in a diamond formation assuming Mesut plays that Kaka role behind the two strikers? Also bear in mind that Lampard would not be scoring as much as it is proven already that in a diamond formation, Lampard does not score and assist as much.
KAKUfrank
Out of the teams after Ozil (Barca, Arsenal and City) he wants to play at the highest level, which gives us an advantage over City. Arsenal will never afford him and he wouldn't get into the Barca team. I think something must already be in place for us just to surrender David Silva when he was practically begging to come to Chelsea.
Seanytrueblue
Agree that if chelsea wanted Silva he was available. Ozil makes more sense. Chelsea has cleared space for an injection of new blood. Ozil will get alot more game time and experience at chelsea.
mza
Ozil seems like a good buy.I havent seen Bundesliga regularly but whenever I have, he has been excellent..Marko Marin too is a good player
samuraisuraj
Toni Kroos would be goodin a few years but again Munich stand in our way.
ACLamp
Would love it if we get him. Love it.
JT is God
I dont if its because they kind of look-a-like and are around the same size but Marko Marin reminds me of Stoch.
ThatShevchenkoGoal
Good shout for Kroos, ACLamp. If Schweini is out tomorrow expect Kroos to take his spot. Quite a challenge for him but I expect him to do well.
RadioactiveD
As Frank has to be saved in more games, having Özil would mean that Chelsea easily could switch its game from the 4-3-3 or what to call it that suits Frank the best (the way we played Spring) to the Diamond or Christmas tree. Just imaging the possibilities Chelsea would have in adapting and changing our game even more than we did this year. I also think Özil would function very well playing a bit further behind to the right of Lamps.
lindy
ACLamp......agreed on Kroos....you say that Munich would stand in our way though.......is it worth carpet bombing?
mutters
I love to fantasize and Mesut Ozil to Chelsea is the stuff dreams are made of, the problem is i've already dreamt of Aguero,Silva,Torres,Milner,Ireland,Schwein' ,Hart e.t.c and none has been snapped up not even rejected bids. Huh! The old blue way of doing things the hard way i just hope my fears don't turn to reality as opposed to my dreams.
mikelampard
Lindy, playing him further behind the right of Lamps would defeat the purpose of the diamond and also diminish Ozil's role. Ozil plays alongside the attackers and right behind the strikers.
KAKUfrank
well i kind of like the diamond with essien on the right and schweinsteiger on the left ....and i totally agree with you kaku frank ..maybe the england match will give us an insight wether ozil can play in epl or not
haji ahmed
Give over, he will come to a top little club Citeh for sure.
johnkelv
If we're to base Ozil's performance against England today on his ability to "cope" with the EPL, umm, I think he'll do just fine!
RadioactiveD
i am gonna phone roman right now to tell him to get ozil asap :)
hero2002
Oh my God! I just love the guy so much! The way he plays! Whoever will take Liverpool 4 the next season please sign Mesut Oezil!
Hango
He will go to Citeh.
Diego_rodriguezz
Wow, this Ozil kid is special. The only one that ALL VC members'd like to link. I can't wait for this Saturday showdown. Best player Messi vs. best young player Ozil. Both teams play attractive attacking football and are very fragile at defense.
tranton
much as i would love to see the likes of schwiensteiger, lahm mueller and oezil in the chelsea blue, for his own good oezil should not come to chelsea. his skills will be sacrficed the way ballack's were (different set of skills of course) to accomodate other 'important' players. sorry to bust a huge bubble, but chelsea is not the way to go for oezil. right now he's best nurtured in the bundesliga.
johnny come lately
tranton... very fragile in defense? lahm is probably the best left AND right back in world football (yeah yeah there's ashley cole i know), friedrich and mertersacker are quietly efficient minus the pompous tags that accompany the likes of terry and ferdinand, and in neuer, you have a safe keeper, again without the flamboyance (but who needs that anyway). friedrich is one of the cleanest defenders around. the only hole in the german defence is down the left. neither badstuber nor boateng nor jansen instil much assurance. in 2006 and 2008, germany's strongest moves came from the left with lahm-schweinsteiger-podolski linking up. this time it's down the right, again with lahm-mueller and oezil floating. since philip lahm refuses to be cloned, germany will have to live with its achilles heel.
