Chelsea - Di Santo Loan Move Stalls!

One cheeky little tabloid has given the first inference that perhaps Chelsea are looking towards next season without the services of the Argentine striker, Franco Di Santo.

The tabloid infers that a deal had all been but done to loan Di Santo to the Dutch club, Feyenoord, for the season.

But, if the tabloid has it`s facts correct, the deal has stalled because Feyenoord asked Chelsea to pay some of Di Santo`s wages for the loan, to which they got a polite refusal from the suited gentlemen within the confines of Stamford Bridge.

The rumour comes with quotes to that affect by Beenhacker of Feyenoord. Think it is probably true. Dutch clubs fight a tough battle with their economics. The only players they can afford to buy comes from smaller leagues as the scandinavian.

lies...its all lies....

Di Santo can't be on that much can he? Surely if it means giving the kid another year's experience and hopefully a lot of first team opportunities then we could pay for it.
LifeLongBlue
LLB, why do young players worldwise flock to England? The salary for promising youngsters is the highest in the world because of the scramble for global talent because of a low yield of talent domestically. Dont be surprised if Di Santo is being paid 20,000 pounds a week. This is peanuts for Abramovich but consider this - when we bought Thomas Vermaelen, captain of Ajax and Belgian International last year he was paid only 25,000 pounds a week. There is no way Feyenoord can pay a 19 year old unproven striker so much.

Personally I don't think di Santo is suited to our league and especially to our standards. One or two years will not change it. He will do well in Portugal or Spain. I'd use him as part of a purchase. The boy needs games and if a suitable taker come he will grap his chance. Kakuta and Borini are the two best bets from our younger players to prosper.
1970Blue
Someone needs to buy him so we can get him off our books.
C_Blue
Our strategy should focus on the most potent prospects at the same time trying to maximize the return from the sale of players who don't belong to this category. The loan maerket is getting tougher and will be more expensive as this Feyenoord case shows.
1970Blue
Stop fannying about and just sell him!
SpanishBlue
Di Santo is rubbish. Sell him don't loan him!!
nar86
Quite right SB........less of the fannying.....more of the kick up the rear end! Tonight at Wycombe.....another deplorable display from him!!! NUFF IS ENUFF!!!!!!!!!!!
mutters
Release him. Make him go away. Give him to Brentford.

Come on this lad hasnt got a fair crack at it! He does what a target man does when they dont get service, faff about.Drog can appear to do nothing then he'll pop up with a goal.Lets see what he can do with lamps etc. supplying him.Other than Mitrovic we have no other strikers in drog's mould.
Chelsea24/7
24/7....if you think Di Santo is in Drog's mould.......then you'd mistake me for Cheryl Cole's bodyguard!!
mutters
Perhaps he'll mistake you for Cheryl Cole.
jabbathemutt007
Lmfao I get a little cross eyed sometimes, you know what I mean though. No other erm Tall,POTENTIALLY robust strikers amongst our ranks.
Chelsea24/7
Why Chelsea24/7? We have young strikers who look better than Franco with the same service as he has received so why invest the time in him and not them? Presumably they will also be better with better service.
