Profile - Kevin De Bruyne

Profile - Kevin De Bruyne

rslack provides an excellent player profile of one of our reported targets.

Due to the overwhelming amount of bogus information circulating about our targets, I thought that a few profiles could be in order. This is not to say that I think we could use any player profiled in these threads. However, I think that if the rumors are circulating from other sources, then a small profile might help our members gain a better understanding than a short youtube video.

Kevin De Bruyne
Club: KRC Genk
Nationality: Belgium
Age:19
Height: 1.8 m 5' 11'
Weight: 68 kg / 149 lbs
Position: Attacking Mid (F)

I'll preface this profile by saying that I've seen several (5-6 club) performances by the player, but also relied on the opinions of friends. My exposure to the Belgian Pro League has primarily come through streaming games and friends in France.

The player made his debut with Genk at 17 years old, where his strengths have made him a starter. He is skilled with the ball at his feet and is quick for the Belgian Pro League. Somewhat simliar in style to Malouda, he plays an advanced role on the left hand side and is quick to move onto his right foot (Messi is another who tends to run from outside to inside in this way). The player has a strong shot, and descent free-kicks with his right foot. He tends to try playing the through ball as opposed to crossing, but can deliver precise crosses when needed. Skilled with the ball at his feet, De Bruyne isn't afraid to take on defenders.

On the downside, the player is small for someone of 19 years old in England. His aerial game is understandably limited. He tends to make smart passes, but is still discovering his talents.

The player is under contract until 2015, and the Belgian side will be reluctant to sell off a promising young U-19 National player so early.

He's 5 ft 11 not that small, what is this obsession with being big in the premier league.

@Luka, I don't know why but they tend to prefer physicality over technique. I find that pathetic TBH.

I believe rslack meant small for his weight/height ratio. Thanks for the profile. Rslack, I have an unfair question - from what you have seen, do you prefer him over Malouda?

I like him and great profiling rslack the only thing i wouldnt agree with is comparing De Bruyne with Malouda, i would but him more in the bracket of Adam Johnson.

Was in Brussels this past week, and the people there, praise the guy like he is a God. I asked one fella what he thinks about Lukaku and De Bruyne joining Chelsea(if they do), he replied,"You are stealing amazing treasure from Belgium". They all say, Lukaku is a beast and will only get better. Apparently he's a level headed guy. On De Bruyne-"he's capable of so much more, he holds back too much" but ya, they believe in those two nd Hazard and some bloke called Kevin Mirallas.

We buy these youngsters but they never become anything at Chelsea! I'm exhausted...We're talking abt Genk now, didnt we just acquire Lucas Piazon who will be joining us in February and theres no more word on him. Sturridge, Kalou, McEachran, Mancienne, Van Aanholt, Bruma, The italian midfielder..and on and on. Itsreally frustrating that we cant develop and integrate young players the way other teams do. Also should we not be looking at a young keeper with considerable talent to understudy and also be a good sub for other competitions. I'm really worried for this club and the direction we're headed

I've seen around 15 games of him this season ( belgian ) , and all I can say is Debruyne is a huge talent. I think Debruyne , Lukaku and Hazard will eventually play for one of the best clubs in the world. and I'm not saying this only cause I'm belgian ! about debruyne , he has a great pass , a great shot , good pace and like lukaku he knows how to handle everything in the footballworld. anyway he would definetely adapt in england! wisey and zola were small as well you know !!

He sounds good so let's go ahead and sign him. We need a decent winger anyway. Now we just need to get a manager who will actually give him the chance to show what he can do.

De bruyne, harzard etc no better then kakuta, the only difference is they are playing for their clubs. If kakuta was at lens or genk no doubt chelsea will be linked with him and there will be a ridicolous figure involved.
