Wenger Raid On Chelsea??
Reports are rife this morning that following Arsenal's top class display at Old Trafford at the weekend, Arsene Winger is storming into the transfer market as he launches his rebuilding programme. His main target is..... Chelsea.
He has apparently lined up an £8million move for our French midfielder Florent Malouda and has already offered £7m for our Brazilian centre-back Alex. It doesn't stop there - he is also apparently and is keen on his midfield team-mate Yossi Benayoun.
Now I, for one thing, think this is all a bit odd, but I do believe that we will see some departures today and tomorrow. Benayoun seems to be on his way out and I wouldn't be surprised if Kalou could also follow.
Could Kalou be used as part of a make-weight deal for Modric? Would we really sell Alex and Malouda to Arsenal?
The price seems very BAD business if it happened, but watch this space folks - will be an interesting day or two.

I think we'll have problems if alex leaves.
a couple of years ago we had a season with all our centerbacks injured , we had to put essien at the back, don't want this to happen again , so unless we get a new CB , I don't want alex to leave unless there's a possibility to get bruma back from hamburg if we get into problems ?

If we sell Alex we'll be in big trouble when we get a couple of injuries at the back. Selling Kalou or Malouda will be good especially if it's part of the Modric deal, but we shouldn't sell both...squad depth.

Wenger's interest in Alex is a no-brainer. Benayoun, a good player who's been given almost no opportunities at Chelsea, would give Arsenal something they lack in terms of experience and maturity. Malouda--same thing. Chelsea certainly shouldn't sell to make Arsenal stronger--not for those low sums anyway.

Malouda? I see no problem with sending him anywhere except that we will be back to a single left-footed wing. Had we kept Yuri then "adios Flo!". As is stands, and Malouda goes, it would seem that there is a slight disconnect with the Board and their thinking (all of this is predicated on not signing another left-footed wing). Selling Alex- HUGE mistake (recall last November if you need to ask why). Yossi?- I just don't understand why he is not on the pitch. He and Yuri were far and away the most creative offensive players we had during the pre-season. I simply don't get how Lamps and Malouda are retained over Yuri and Yossi. But then again, our offense has been so stellar, creative and overwhelming through the first three matches....

Only player I would sell is Kalou. Others I will keep as long as we dont have the replacement. If we let go 4 experienced players and buy 1 then our squad is terribly thin. Squad depth is required to compete for the full season all fronts. Malouda, Alex and Benayour all are useful players. Benayoun never got the chance he deserved here.

Looks like the last few days of the transfer window is going to be franatic. I for one do not believe Modric will come to Chelsea as Levy is adamant for his ego sake that he will not sell him to Chelsea. It is to the detriment of Tottenham as many players and even Harry has said moving him on is the wisest thing to do, but oh well. As for Meireles, I think that he is an ok buy as long as we don't pay more than 10 million for him. He is Portuguese and I am sure AVB can get the best out of him (like bosingwa). Athought I am not a big fan of Malouda, I do not think selling him without bringing in a replacement is a wise thing with the long season ahead. The only 1 player I think we should sell is Kalou now that we have Sturrdige back. I would love to see Modric come to the Bridge though, but I dont think it will happen, maybe in Jan, but not now

@ ChelseaHeadHunter, I fully agree with you that Meireles was quite decent last season. He was in a lacklustre Liverpool side (for much of last season until Kenny took over) and he still performed decently. He would be a good alternative to have in the middle of the park, is he a worse player then Lamps? I don't think so, t least paying 10 million? for him would be better than over paying 40 million for Modric. It's going to be a long long 2 days. I really hope we sign someone in the AM/CM role so that we have alternatives. Looking at both the Manchester clubs, I don't think we can challenge very strongly if we don't buy anyone else. But, if AVB took this season to bed in the youngsters and phase out the oldies, I would readily accept this season as a transitional phase (maybe win the FA Cup, League Cup and challenge strongly for the EPL and Champs League).

Just a joke anyways before you all jump on me, just wanted to use 8-2 & arsenal in one sentence again lol. Muffdaddy we are the selling club, so don't we get to chose how much we'll sell him for? You have to put his wages & cost of his treatments during his long injury spell into consideration as well. Plus we are kinda lacking creativity in our mf right now & he's one of our most creative players, why should we sell him for a measly £8m?

The Lukaku to Stoke is an intelligent move. He will be there for 6 months, in which he will be able to play continuously and will be able adapt the pace of PL. Once he comes back, he will be a better(in terms of PL) and remember Drogba will be away for ANC. In the mean time, Sturridge will get ample playing time, in all terms excellent move I say.

We shouldn't sell anyone to our rivals. If we improve their teams (yes I know Malouda isn't an improvement) then they could make life harder for us. I would rather we sent Malouda to France or Italy and we brought in another winger. For the present I rate Modric as a better target, but for the future I find a combination of Gotze and McEchran just outstanding and a much better one to the Modric one. The number 31 is free at cfc and he can take the number 8 when Lamps retires. Personally I would preffer Gotze, but still think we are getting Modric.

AVB said they are looking such a young talent like Lukaku and others. We all know Di Matteo was in Stuttgart watching Brazil vs Germany game. and he wasn´t there for watching Neymar. there´s no more any player who could be intersting to CFC. €35M for Götze in this transfer or £50+M in next, which one is cheaper. next summer will be intersted all top clubs like ManU, MCity, Barca, Real. Goetz wont be sold this year. BVB now thinks they are a big club like Tottenham and their director has said that they are not a selling club. but fact is when RM comes calling they will sell for less than 10 M.

When next summer city offers them 45m or real gets him for 25m, then you will be the first one to complain why CFC board did not pay them 30m for gotze. you have to understand that although we are very popular club but we still lags behind RM,Barca and ManU in terms of elite club status, if CFC, RM, MANU, BARCA all are interested in same player what the preference of choice that player will be having ask yourself, u will get the answer m sure.

It doesn't help when Terry's lack of pace is almost non-existent now, that's where we're gonna struggle.

neither malouda not alex shoulw be let go. yossi and kalou should be sold by all means. the former too should not be sold because if we have defensive injuries we would need those backups. remember we are competing on 4 fronts and players need rest. alex and malouda would do well for the FA and League cup games (and i hope we win both). Alex and Malouda can feature, that would give a break to Terry, Ivanovic, and maybe to Cole and def. to Mata. Now regarding the latter 2:Yossi and Kalou-we simply dont need them, especially Kalou. Since we have Lukaku and now Daniel coming back, its time to cash in on Kalou. Though, I hope Kalou moves to France or somewhere else, not England.
