The Chance for Wholesale Change?

We are officially out of the running for a top 4 finish in the league and no matter what happens in the coming game, we are confirmed to finishing in position 6th, the worst position we ever finished in a decade now.

That prompts me to want a wholesale change in the first team and give the last game to the reserve and the youth to showcase their ability to fill in when needed, of which many have not seen starts and games in the first team since breaking into the reserve.

The only players I would like to see play would be Cahill and Luiz if they are passed fit to play some part in the game for their fitness for the final of the Champions League next week.

Hope RDM buys the idea or what do you guys think?

The last pl match would be an opportunity to blood some youngsters but wholesale change?? common guys we ve to take it easy with our youngsters. i u turn out a team of youth & reserve players against blackburn on sunday, they will be seriously trashed. & what do u think it will do to their confidence?? i ve to realize that youth & reserve team footy is different from 1st team footy, d pressure & expections re too high.

According to a recent report from dailymail regarding Didier Drogba, it quotes a ‘source’ who infers that “Everyone is keen to keep Didier but the owner won`t be held to ransom. He has to be realistic with his demands if he wants to continue playing at the highest level" and this makes for interesting analysis.........................1) Who’s the ‘source’ behind this information because they seem to be of the opinion that indeed, Drogba has to depart (why else would they bring up such “anti-Drogba” comment)... 2) If “everyone” is keen on Drogba, who is everyone?? (The board??).... 3) If it’s the board then clearly they have been taken by the recent results, showing just how ‘vulnerable’ they are to sentimentalism which basically proves why our club can’t seem to be progressing. There’s no club football “business” brains there... 4) Roman Abramovich (the owner) “won’t be held at Ransom” means he’s refusing to bow to the demands of a part-bit player... 5) Roman Abramovich is clearly not buying the recommendation from the board (point #3) which is s refreshing idea....

and you are analyzing the 'report' from the mail ... We need to be focused on our Final - not be distracted by all this mumbo-jumbo!

@mq i think gourlay said some days back that they (im guessing the board now) are not giving up hope of renewing drogbas contract. So that might be the source the mail was talking about.

Back to d topic.... i think d blackburn match should be an opportunity to give piazon a debut appearance & if possible to kane & chalobah. piazon has do really well & looks like he is ready while kane & chalobah ve been around & ve quite matured. lukaku & hutch should be starting btw.

just watching the youth and reserve team this season we all know we do not have to go out and sign 4-5 top quailty expensive players this summer! these boys are definately good enough to be given some playing time next season and to fill the bench also.barkley wrote a good piece on the youth team in the paper the day of the final and he said these are the most exciting bunch since beckham, giggs, scholes and the nevilles! everyone knows there good we just need the manaer to have some faith(balls i like to call it) and start bloody watching these boys in action. i watched the game but i must admit i didnt see whether RDM,BNewton or any of the first team where at the game,i hope they were especially RDM to see just what his youth have and what they can do for the first team!! how the hell Toddy Kane aint pushing for a call up to replace bosingwa or ferriera i dont know!!! baffling lol

I think the youth needs to see some time on the field for the first team and show what they are capable of.

I really enjoy the idea of players like Chalobah, Lukaku, Hutchinson and Blackman possibly starting and Piazon, Kane coming on off the bench. But RDM is not brave enough to do this. Lukaku and Chalobah are the future and should treated appropriately!!! {Blackman} {Hutchinson, Chalobah, Terry, Bertrand} {Essien, Lampard} {Ramires, Malouda, Sturridge} {Lukaku} {BENCH-Turnbull, Ivanovic, Romeu, Piazon, Mata, Torres}

I want to see Lukaku, Hutch, Piazon, Chalaboah, Hilario and Kane start. only say Hilario cos he never gets a run out and probably should as it could be his last chance too...hopefully Torres comes on and scores late to keep the confidence high

Hutchinson will never be good enough to play for Chelsea his injuries have seen to that. Piazon and Chalobah deserve some camio appearances in the first team though.

Martin Samuel wrote an excellent article ( stating that the problem with Chelsea is this mentality that what we need revolution as opposed to evolution. Its an excellent outside perspective for those that believe we need to see wholesale changes in the senior squad.

According to THE BREEZE, It turns out (imagine this) AVB has a BETTER AVERAGE RECORD this season than RDM....Points per game AVB 1.7 RDM 1.5...Goals for AVB 1.74 RDM 1.6...Goals against AVB 1.18 RDM 1.3...League position when AVB was sacked was 5th, 3 POINTS OFF 4TH place. RDM 6th, 5 POINTS OFF 4TH place..............................................................

naturally I don't want to spoil the party but what makes this SO AMAZING is that...1) AVB didn't have the "unequivocal" backing of the entire squad compared to RDM...2) AVB didn't have RDM's "man management" skills...3) AVB didn't have RDM's "tactical astuteness"...4)AVB didn't have RDM's "astute" team and substitute selections...5) AVB didn't have "as much pressure" as RDM (according to some)...........................They say he's a coaching "legend" here a VC........................LoL

I'd like to see... Blackman; Iva, Hutch, Terry, Bertrand; B.Clifford, Chalobah, C.Clifford; Lalkovic, Lukaku, Piazon. Realize it's a 4-3-3 and won't happen, but many of the players are familiar with that formation in youth and reserve set ups.

@Mq- You seem to be proving the point that statistics can prove any point one would like to make. Well done telling us what we already know. Scolari had an 8% better winning percentage, and won more matches in his 36 match stint than AVB managed to in 40. Scolari did it while receiving: Bosingwa, Deco, Fabio Paim, Mineiro, Tore, a few youth players and Quaresma. AVB received: Romeu, Lukaku, Mata, Mireles, Cahill and a few youth players. Net spending under Scolari- £24.6M. Under AVB- £81.2M. so- AVB spent more and won less than Big Phil. And guess what- Big Phil was crap... See what I've done there? It the exact same thing you did in your argument against RDM, except that AVB didn't get us a trophy or to the CL final. RDM has...
