Drogba`s Swan Song?

Against Blackburn, Drogba came on as a sub today for young Lukaku, who was having himself a good game I'm pleased to write.

But the sub itself was noteworthy for a reason that I'm sure is obvious to all of you: in all likelihood, it was a final goodbye gesture from arguably our greatest striker ever at Chelsea.

I don`t want to be too presumptuous, but the idea of no Drogba next season—well, I'm really sad about it.

Drogba's age and the presence of Torres give ammunition to those who want him gone. I'm not interested in starting that debate because there`s really nothing to add that hasn`t already been expressed ten times over.

I simply want to applaud Drogba for an absolutely unbelievable Chelsea career.

Watching him play over the years has brought me great joy.

It has been a privilege, Didier!

Think @Mq might be happy to see the back of him, but I think he's proved this season that he can still cut it at the highest level. If its your last game at the bridge then good luck on the final part of your playing career. As FrLamp said L.E.G.E.N.D

I'll really miss his Wembley goals, his goals against Arsenal and more and more of those important goals he's scored for us. I'll also miss the time-wasting and bullying of opposition defences. LEGEND. You will be really missed. I want to see him sign off with a bang by scoring in the UCL final.

The Champions League gold medal will be a fitting high-point for Drogba's career. He deserves nothing less especially in view of previous heartaches and controversies in the Champions League. Hope that negotiations between the club and him will result in an extension to his contract.

I've got nothing to add, everyone has covered it. What a man, what a player, what a legend. The best striker we've ever had, the spearhead and cornerstone behind all our success under abramovich, now let's send him out with the biggest prize of them all next week. God bless you didier drogba, should this indeed be your final hour in a Chelsea all I can say is thank you with all my heart.

What a complete stupidity it would be to let Drogba go. He should get a one year extension right now! He's still got it and with Torres still in bad form it is very risky. He's a big game player and a true legend.

As has been said by all above if this was Drogs final competitive game at Stamford Bridge he will be sorely missed. He is one of those Larger than life characters. When he is up for it even now he is virtually unplayable and is one of the most complete strikers in the modern game, one of the best back to goal strikers, deadly in the air, able to use both feet, great ball crosser and decent defensive presence especially on aerial balls. One can only imagine what other heights Drogs would have reached if his career had taken of sooner..by todays standards he was really a late bloomer.

The Drog ain't going on the evidence of today's sub appearance. RDM wanted to see how Drogs and Torres play together in a different system with neither of them having to play on the wings a probable 4-4-2 formation. But I still think, RDM shall go only with Drogs all alone, then try to bring in Torres after 70 mins. Its a joke of a poll out here which says 70% Torres #Deluded

I'd rather see how we go on the 19th, Didier hopefully plays a huge part in us winning it, then announce he is leaving the Club gracefully, organise a goodbye Charity match at SB all proceeds to his Foundation. He would have no problem getting the worlds' top players to participate. And I bet the ground would be close to full capacity. A fitting end and send off for a huge Chelsea LEGEND.

Did u guys see Abramovich stood and applauded when he came as a substitute for Lukaku. What a fantastic Owner. We are lucky to have both Abra and Drogs at our club at the same time. Drogs has been giving his 100 % even though he is not sure of staying here. To me he is the best centre forward. Torres may have been class but at 34 , I hardly doubt there will be any one can play like Drogs. he has probvided important goals when we needed the most. I would be happy if he is associated to our club by one way or the other forever. Lets win this CL for us Drogs. That will fulfill your career as player in club who has won everything. Make us proud as always you do. If we win CL , he can leave for a bigger payday.

It will be real tough to replace Drogba....But i think it wont be a necessary to replace drogba as the owner wants out style to be changed....So, to suit our new style, we need strikers like torres....anyway,If he leaves (which is almost 95% sure) I will miss Drogba for his wembley goals, hold-up plays & him bullying the best PL defenders , his play-actings in the field, and of course his PRESENCE in the team....

We will always remember one of our own, didi was the best striker in the premier league, all those times he's terrorised arsenal, goals at wembley and may more, and yes didier should retire hire, but the club has stuck to its policy of offering 1 year extensions to players over 30, if it backs down now then it plays into the hands of other players of that age. We've offered didier what we feel to be correct, he wants more than that. All good things have to come to an end.

Radio - I have no doubt that your intentions were ALL GOOD. I think has been so important to us that the last 30mins of the last game at the Bridge, when no announcement has yet been made by him, that he deserves a better send off if we part company. He may have been waving goodbye, I hope not, well not just yet. I for one, would like it to be a ceremonial occasion when we know his decision.

A great player who still has something to offer and a great man, we will miss him but we are right not to offer him a 2 year deal, shame he won't take the one year on offer but that's his choice and his decision should be respected. SB, I had almost exactly the same experience. It's possible I misread the moment, but between the abruptness of pulling Lukaku, who was playing well, and Roman standing up to applaud Drogba, it felt like a goodbye. It happened quickly, but I immediately felt sadness. I really have loved watching Drogba over the years.
