Kakuta - Decision Time?

Kakuta - Decision Time?

Whether Gael Kakuta ever makes that crucial breakthrough into the Chelsea first team is one of the universes greatest teasers.

Touted as an outstanding prospect, in his teenage years, Kakuta has failed to live up to his billing and spent last season, back in his homeland, with Dijon.

This morning, it`s being mentioned in dispatches that the Spanish club, Espanyol, are looking to take Kakuta on a similar deal next season.

Therefore, would it be churlish to suggest that if the club agree to such a deal then should we view it as an admission that he`s never going to cut the mustard at Chelsea and that he`ll join the long list of youngsters that sparkled in our academy but never bridged what appears to be an enormous gap.

Considering FFP and no of players who may leave this summer, think its a good idea for him to be atleast a squad player next year. But i guess it will be his make or break year for sure for cfc

loan him out for one year! he is simply not good enough for pl football....saw him a couple of games for dijon! nice to watch but not that effective in his passing and game reading...one year to go!

his ship has sailed im affriad. he not even the dijon starting 11 no more! he will not make it at chelsea simple. not because we dont give youth a chance but just because he doesnt seem good enough. how many managers at chelsea have had him there? and none have brought him up to stay. he flirted with the first team then bang off you go on loan or into reserves.

So much talent, but once again that gap appears just too huge!

I think that once the CL final is out of the way a few players will start moving.

I personally think he needs to still show it at another club. Espanyol are a good team. Let's see how he develops.

He was a regular starter at Dijon, although he did't participate in their last 2 games. But you never know what happens there, because ,you have to admit,Dijon is not a major factor in France and the media is not really interested in their players. He might have been injured or something, you can never say with absolute certainty, canu you?

dtr1977: He has started 14 games and came on as a sub 3 games since he moved to Dijon. He has only missed 3 games (1 as a unused sub and the last 2 from injury).

He's amazing. Don't let him go...although both Piazon and Feruz are better...

I still maintain he has not been given a fair chance to try and fail at his parent club chelsea. Lets have him at home, available to use in Carling cup and early FA cup games, have him start a few home games in the BPL against bottom fooder clubs and actually see how he does before deciding..If we are going to loan him out for another year then we may as well sell him and be done with it..he is not going to learn what he needs to on these pointless loans..let us for a change show some trust in our youth prospects and at least give them a decent chance to sink or swim where it matters at their home club.

I think CFC would be looking to offload. quite a pity but it would will be d right thing for all party. CFC had high hopes of him being star talent & not squad player. of d 5 of our academy graduate (bruma, josh, bertrand, PVA & kakuta) that were offered pro contract last year, he has d best package but so hasnt look like a chelsea first team material. Among those five, i would say its only josh & bertrand that stands a chance.

How can someone not live to expectation without being given a chance in the first place?

@GabeU opportunities for grooming youths & young talents at a club like chelsea are rare as it is in other big clubs that compete for honours(well except arsenal). u ve to make d best use of it when u grab it.... its now d turn of piazon, kane, chalobah, feruz, bamford to be offered theirs not kakuta. if he still believe he has a future at CFC, then his agent should hold out for a full season loan out at a club where he would for spots & prove himself.

Do people actually realize this is exactly where Mata was with Real a few years ago? You can replace experience, but you can't replace talent. At the very least, Kakuta will be a Marin/Malouda/Kalou/Meireles/Zhirkov. And all it takes for him to get there are 15-20 games per season for the next two seasons.

@OC blues and Foriegn viewer..i concur with you..this young man is being dubbed a failure and reject when i can say for certain he has not had 10 first team starts to his name since he joined us..come on now..this fellow has not been given a valid opportunity in the first team to sink or swim....more loans wont help us make an informed decision on this..giving him some quality chances with the experienced quality players in the first team will. We want to move on the Piazon and co now and just chuck PVA, Josh and Kakuta in the dustbin..even Bertrand i dont think has had a dozen starts this season..the problem is that we as a club have no system or plan/procedure for blooding our youths into the first team..we think we can out source that most hallowed and important duty of the parent teams to some other team out there...sorry folks..it doesnt work that way..it wont surprise me if these boys end up like Stoch, Sinclair, Borini etc..sad and wasteful.

Can't we just use Kakuta as back up to Mata and Josh as back up to Lampard? Let's face it, it is clear none of these guys will get game time anywhere in the premiership unless they are outright sold. I am sure some of you may not agree, but I will more than have Sinclair as backup to Kalou than Malouda although I won't trade him for Marin though.....
