Off course we damn well did and now it`s the time to enjoy the occasion. I haven`t a clue how it will turn out but the way things have gone in our favour so far tin the Champions League, we could all be doing silly dances tonight, or if luck deserts us, drowning our sorrows, that`s how football goes isn`t it?

No sources i'm afraid I've heard from a few reliable people that apparently Bertrand is going to start in front of Cole on Left wing..... That would be a tremendous and bold move from Robbie. People are saying that it's because Malouda hasn't shaken off his knock but in honesty, i would prefer Bertrand playing instead of a fully fit Malouda. He is quick, skillfull and has a great cross, everything that we need and Malouda lacks. He is also obviously defensive so he would come back to help out Cole against Robben or Ribery. Could be a great move!

@Radio it is a huge risk but who 'd you rather malouda or ryan? I think despite being inexperienced in the champions league, ryan will have the mettle to stick to to bayern, he's unselfish and crosses better too! Plus he's naturally a defender so that helps cole even more.

Decisions like selecting Bertrand are the sort of decisions that can be the difference between winning and losing.Obviously,it could go the other way,but if we do pull this off and Ryan has a good game,no one can say RDM is tactically inept.

To answer your question: I'd rather Ryan play than Malouda, of course; but I was honestly expecting Torres to start. It would signal attacking intent but starting Ryan is smarter tactically.

Bertand does put in good crosses and he's trained as a defender; it's smart in the sense that it will help to stop Bayern's width but also if Ashley bombs forward, Ryan can drop back to help. If done properly it is a quite ingenious move.

Karma can be such an intriguing thing..Steve Kean played the weasel and undermined his Boss Sam Allardyce in Blackburn and got him fired by the Venkys so he could take over as boss when the club was doing decently in the mid table of the BPL a season ago. In his first season as boss he went through hell literally, got blackburn relegated and looks set to be sacked. The man he knifed in the back to get what he thought was the plum job moves to Westham and has now led them back to the BPL..Justice is served!!!.

Ryan can offer protection to cole as Lahm is expected to play at rb and bomb down the wing with robben. Because of bertrand's ability to tactically defend, I feel this will be crucial in containing those dangerous cut insides from robben. Starting Bertrand means that if we are chasing the game, torres is on the bench to provide more attacking threat and the ability to put in a quality cross. Contento is expected to start at lb to replace the suspended alaba, gotta admit that I don't know a lot about the lad, if anyone could provide me with information of what he's like as a player I'd gratefully appreciate it. So I can only focus on Ribery vs Bosingwa/Ferreira (I hope it's ferreira but fear it's bosingwa.) It's important that our right back stas as tight to Ribery as possible, because give Ribery space, and he can easily make you pay. And, like Robben, will be cutting inside onto his stronger foot. Kalou may not have the energy or pace of Ramires, but he does have the work ethic to keep going for the full 90, and I think that with Bayern's makeshift defence, Kalou may pop up with an oppurtunity just like Benfica away.

If true and Ryan is starting ill back the move as it might prove to be a decent one...but what it does mean is that we start the game already thinking on the back foot with what some might call a negative tactic. I feel we have the sqaud to at least selvage 45-50% possesion in the game so I wouldnt mind us thinking a bit more positively. But anyhow lets see how it pans out.
