Wonder Kid Chase!

Whilst we all contemplate which star names will be heading our way this summer, as always appears to be the case Chelsea are always looking towards the future to bring through talented youngsters.

Although the number of youngsters that complete the journey can be counted on the fingers of one hand, the necessity to bring through home grown players is to be intensified when the Financial Fair Play rules come into play.

The latest youngster to be linked with a move to Chelsea is Foday Nobay

Nobay is a mere thirteen years of age and has already played for the England U16 side and his standing in the game is such that as well as Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are also chasing the teenager who is, currently, on the books of Birmingham City.

dtr1977 HaHaHa lol Its true,Mceachran may come good eventually. Most managers won't trust kids when their jobs on the line. It would be a lot fairer if kids stayed with the club they are scouted by until they were twenty because that would mean a club could build teams with there own identity but that won't happen. If my son was given the choice and my allegience was put aside then he wouldn't come to Chelsea because its over ten years since a youth player made it here(JT)

There's no point in us even taking notice, if anyone does sign him we won't see him in the premier league for 7-8 years.
AMLang
For God's sake, what's the point in this? Aren't we genetically engineering our own superstars in tubes in the Chelsea lab (deep in a bunker in a mountain somewhere) yet? By the time this lad's ready to play he won't get in the side as we'll have made a whole team of Messis, Maldinis, Makeleles and ... Lampards!
SpanishBlue
lol @ dtr. @AMlang, we will never see him in a chelsea jersey.
Dwonder
ha i give him credit just for his name alone....i agree though clubs should not be allowed snatch youngsters from other clubs
heart_of_blue
another "wonder kid"?? The way we targeting these kids makes me think we building a La Masia academy I see
@Mq
Nice to know but truly irrelevant for us now..we need to focus on now and ensuring that next year we are not once again struggling to remain in the top 3. The euphoria of being the Champions league champions this year should not create selective amnesia that makes us forget we just pulled the ultimate of great escapes..we were 6th in the BPL and that position is not a lie..We already have a glut of youngsters and we have essentially done squat with the ones we have already other than mostly ill conceived loan deals..we have no Chelsea raised youngster in the first team ranks since JT..we dont need to be adding more, we need to get mature reinforcements that will help this team now (meaning next season) and then develop a coherent, rational plan to develop and transition the youngsters we have now so they are all given a fair chance and exposure to ascend to the first team. Those should be the priorities not buying every 13-15 yr old hailed as the next Rooney or Messi.

all we need is a pro-youth Manager...Pep c'mon now, the "seeds" are ripe for planting & tending and you are THE MASTER at this business
@Mq
There are so many wonder kids....If we get him great..If not get another...They pop up almost in all streets
Desmondadonis
He looks more older in the pics than the noted 13years old boy.
Kendemsblue
Are we really up-to him?
