Deep Lying Playmaker - Keisuke Honda

We have been linked with Hulk but there is a missing puzzle in what will be our main formation next year.

The deep-lying playmaker position in the pivot!

Last season Mata, most of the time, had to drop deep to get the ball from Lampard or Mikel to distribute the ball to Ramires and the left winger.

We have acquired Hazard and Marin they are very good wingers but even if we have these players on our team sheet our attack won't be as good as it could be with a Modric type player.

We need a link from defence to attack, a person who can calculate complex passes within a second and execute them perfectly from the pivot.

Many people are saying we should bid for Javi Martinez, Mvilla and Modric who is the favourite among our fans.

We should not go for Modric we should go for Keisuke Honda.

He is 24 very good technically, an excellent set piece taker; has excellent vision, is adaptable, has good dribbling skills and frightening pace.

He can play in a holding role, a central midfield position and wing position. He is very cheap and wants to leave CSKA Moscow.

He publicly stated it in January when he handed a transfer request when Lazio enquired about him.

He brings revenue from Japan and the Asian continent which will help with FFP.

There are more benefits to this guy than Modric. He will cost around £15-20 million pounds and we can get him for around £15 million.

I would like to know what you think about this proposal.

Not sure his build is ideal for him to be a holding midfielder. But then again neither was makelele but he was awesome. As for his attributes, I think he's far more suited to a slightly more attacking role, a position where Chelsea already have many players for.

Kaiser Keisuke is an awesome player. Spotted him since 2008 at VVV Venlo. He is more of a Frank Lampard type midfielder with a better skill set. will he be able to play as a regista? Maybe. I think we should go for a certain Jordy Classy at Feyernord. He is currently referred to as the Dutch Xavi. Excellent skills, marking and positional awareness. Near perfect passer of the ball and heres the best part, he"ll cost no more than 12mill tops.

I think Romeu will eventually become this player... next season he should grown into a much better player
pancake
Hmm not quite sure. I think he's more of an attacking midfielder than a passer in the pivot. Great player but not required for 20 million.
addictedtoblue
All we need is Hulk and a right back. We have Mikel, Lampard, Romeu and Meireles who can all play there. Josh McEachran should also get more opportunities. This coming season may be the end of Sturridge at Chelsea, I believe we should sell him now instead of wasting one more season. He will eventually be sold: Marin, Hazard, De Bruyne, Hulk and Mata can all play in his position. We also have Kakuta and Piazon who seem better than him. For the centre forward position we have Torres and Lukaku and Hulk can also play there (if we sign him, that is).
Drog of War
Drog of war I‘ll bet if Hulk, Marin or Hazzard struggles to adapt to the EPL you‘ll be calling for their heads. Let Studge be he isnt going anywhere & has plenty of time to improve. This perform right now mentality is why the youth are having a near impossible time breaking into the first team.

i will rather have Iker Munian than hulk or keisuke. While keisuke is a player i love, sadly his preferred position has been taken by a 32 million purchase and he is not good enough in the deep lying playmaker role for Chelsea.

If we can integrate josh into the squad, I think we'll be settled, this boy has an eye for a pass before he gets it. Remember what Lamps said about him, he is always a few steps ahead of others. Can cut the ball through defenders, He can be our own Keisuke Honda if thats what you want...
shaf86
Bastian Schweinsteiger !!! the man is class. iv said this on more than one occasion. he can dictate tempo, tackle, pass, score goals, has a long shot, play deep, push forward, great work rate. isn't he just perfect ? we should ask ballack to persuade him to come to us.
Blue Boy
Don't think Honda is a deep lying midfielder to me he's more of an attacking midfielder/winger which we don't need.
sojofjand
Erm Blueboy... Schweinsteiger is Mr Bayern Munich. That would be like Terry leaving us for another team. Also, he's one of the best players in the world and won't come any cheaper than £45m. It can happen in video games but not in reality.
blu4life
Bastian would be lovely. BUt the question is..... will he come. especially after the munich heartache. I learnt we are asking for Mueller. Is he really goood??!!?!?!?! anyone please

Everyone other than Chelsea fans already say that we hardly have a scouting system and we feed off other's scouting reports. If we sign Honda so s0on after ManU captured Kagawa, I can see these ppl having a field day saying that we are only replicating what ManU is doing. Now is not a good time to reach into the Asian market.
luv_FB
Yes he is a quality player and can bring something anew to chelsea since we are going to attacking football, we will need players who can link play from back and orchestrate our attack.
Kendemsblue
Nice suggestion. yes we seriously need a regista but i dont think Honda is one of them. for merchandising sake, yes! BUT he's an attacking midfielder.

Sir i luv your proposal I wanted him 2 years now.. (around world cup) the guy plays well in a att mid role, he has a wicked freekick (super dead ball specialist), pens. very creative. he can also play as a second stiker, I have not seem him much as a deep laying mid, but he is very intelligent, thus i rate him highly. !! oh he is actually 25 will be 26 soon, but thats fine. if we want to go for him as a squad man.. he is much better than raul. We have taken too long to get into the Asian market!
denverblue
An obvious answer to this is Newcastle's gem in my opinion Yohan Cabaye, cost roughly 20-25 million, passes like a god, can take beautiful freekicks and already has epl experience. Nuff said.
OneJuanMata
Why need a creative midfielder? Isn't that mata I think mikel is capable of getting the ball to him getting a creative midfielder will just make the midfield defensively vunerable and we want it to be solid so the 4 players ufront get as much freedom as they can
lukamolski
what is this, has Vital Chelsea now been occupied by dailymail journo's?? Can we get better and REALISTIC articles plz
@Mq
??? Honda is not even remotely a deep-lying playmaker-just cos hes asian u think hes hard working? hes a cam but 4 japan hes a CF. also we dnt need a deeplying playmaker-we gt lamps and meireles even romeu. Lamps has an excellent array of passing, and meireles provides creativity. Also mceahran can play there like he did under ancelotti. WE DONT NEED any more cm,cdm or cam.
Humza_96
@mq,Ur reasoning on here is the skewed one ...95% dislike ur input in here,u have never posted a reasonable comment, neither have u gone out of ur way to post a reasonable or educating article worthy of a good debate, yet u slate the intelligent people that do it with perfection. How can a man's life be this miserable peepz?
Desmondadonis
I see no reason why we should not go for an Asian player as a matter of principle. May be there are some good players in Japan that will cost a fraction of the price for some European ones? Plus, I like Japan as a country. Would like to visit one day. :)
DeathByimpalement
Honda is not a deeplying playmaker, he is an attacking mid/Winger/CF, he is creative and fast but is not strong enough and defensively sound enough to play as a deeplying playmaker.
SameX
I like him but i think he has dropped form and is no longer as good as he used to be, but he is a fine player and will add to any team on his day though we don't need him
SameX
Josh is our man!! Thats why we need RDM at the helm, the only mananger out there who's truly interwoven in the club. The Hutchinson cameo was testament to that.No other manager wouldve gambled on Bertrand except for him.He truly trusts the youth.Given a longer term he'll bed them in.For now Lamps/Ramires & Mikel will be the midfield duo with Josh & Romeu as extremely good alternatives.Good to hear Romeu is hungry to fight for his place. There oppotunity is there for these young lads, they must just keep faith.
Chelsea24/7
Chelsea24/7 totally agree Josh is such a natural passer of the ball probably the best I've seen emerge from this country since Hoddle, AVB said he's so naturally talented his brain is 5 seconds quicker than anyone he's seen, he just needs to bulk up a bit and he's ready.
Splint1976
I rate josh and i love him,he can do well in the cm role....He and romeu/mikel would be great...Where would rammy play?..I dont know.
Desmondadonis
Interesting how, with everyone assuming Hulk is coming, that Ramires position is now hard to pin down. He can only really take Mikel or Lamps out of the team, and pinning him back to that double pivot role kind of takes a lot of his running out of the game. As one of the Players of the Year I assume he plays most games, he is too good not to, but where and how remains a question mark (if Hulk comes)?
BlueABS
We need to buy and sell also.
Kendemsblue
Honda is like a offensive playmaker
