Target Fellaini?

I've been calling for this one a while now. Whilst many on here are calling for a deeplying play maker, I feel the balance wouldn't be right with Hazard, Mata, Hulk and Torres in the same starting line up. There's enough attacking threat from those 4 to not need another play maker, albeit deeper. I think in the system Di Matteo uses you have to have solidity behind the flair. I feel that the energy of Ramires with the power and presence of Fellaini, or Mikel as back-up, we'd have perfect balance in the middle. The other good thing is that he is powerful in the air, the formation could be changed easily as Ramires is as much an attacking threat as he is good at closing the opposition down, so if we did have to change system in a game and not have an AM, the addition of Fellaini would help us execute that. What we need is not another play maker, but someone who can allow those further up to stay forward and hit teams on the break. This would be an immense signing. Only one other player I'd go for in the mould of Fellaini and that's Tiote. My dream team? Cech, Ivanovic, Luiz, Terry, Cole, Ramires, Fellaini, Hulk, Mata, Hazard, Torres. Great flexibility!

This rumor just confuses me. Arent Romeu/ Mikel similar players. Agreed Fellainiis probably better in the air but his passing ability is hardly anything to write home about. Oh well in the board i trust for now.

I have to say, that this spending splurge seems to be getting a little out of hand. We seem to be linked with almost every Belgian which is fine, but we already have the best of them. Only Mertens (if we can forgive him for his push on Cahill) meets the standard that we should be aspiring to. I'd rather have Tiote simply because of his mobility as it seems that next season our team, in any formation, would be based on mobility and speed of thought. Fellaini, whilst good, could not cover our backs while our superb midfield and front lines go marauding towards the opposition goal. Now here is a moot point, that I had very little time for the negative play of Mikel but his improvement over the latter parts of last season was very apparent. Why not give him a chance alonside Frank, Ramires and possibly Modric. We also have Romeu, Josh, Hutchinson, Bertrand, Piazon, Feruz and other up and coming youngsters to integrate. If we carry on buying a new team when will they get their chance. I fear for their futures at CFC. Also I thought that there was a need to meet the FFP regulations and we seem determined all the cash received from our Champions League success without putting anything asise for a "rainy day". I say that because we are suppposed to be self financing and no longer dependent on Roman. There is also need to ensure that there is a fair share of home grown talent in the squad. If the buying goes unabated, the youngsters will fall further behind. In my opinion, we do not need Hulk or Fellaini but a right back (even though I still believe that Hutchinson could easily cover this position). I also think that a Goetze/Modric/Kagawa type player as the link between the defence and forwar lines is required especially as I do not think that Frank could meet the rigours of a full season and in the longer term he will need to be replaced. In any case I cannot wait for the next season to start and the real football to begin.

I remain to be convinced by him but from what Everton fans have said on here, he'd be a great signing, a snip at £20m!

@aslaram i 100% agree that is my dream team as well tbh. Fellaini is a top quality player and im a massive fan of his. In a 4-2-3-1 he would be great sitting with ramires while the others get on with the job. Also he is a good passer of the ball and really is an all round midfielder. Im also a fan of javi martinez and him and fellaini sitting would be UNREAL!! Cech,VDW,Terry,Luiz,Cole, Fellaini , Martinez, Hulk Hazard, Mata, Torres. With a bench of Marin,Lamps, Iva,Piazon,Ramires,Mikel,sturridge,miereles,oriol what a squad that is. 7 competition next season were gonna need this kinda of big strong squad

CFC will never buy Felliani cos we don't need him he's just an average player not better than what we have, what CFC is looking for is what we don't av, what will add quality to the team, check out the signings so far all what we don't av last season. So the Felliani thing is just media gossip.

If we to buy every player that is linked with chelsea then by d end of d transfer window we will ve a squad of 50 players. there re some rummors that we shouldnt bother discussing. fellaini when we still ve essien, mikel, romeu, ramires.... except maybe we planning on moving anyone of d above but then fellaini is so much an improvement to any one of them.

point of correction when arsenal scored 5 it was bosingwa who was always out of postition for some of them i cant remember ivanovic in that match

Need someone faster in the middle, Ramires will do the box-to-box the role, but someone has to do the 'fast paced' passing in the middle, Mikel is poor in this. He passes mostly sideways, though the last few months he was excellent. Still think we need replacement in the middle, Fellaini, Javi Martinez, Modric, someone who will play with Ramires.

martinez himself he follows chelsea because of fernando torres. so why not get the benefit of this situation and get him? i heard man city were planning to buy him any how. but if we get martinez then we can have another one over machester. and its clear that if there are two bids. one from the WHOLE manchester and one from us, then he is goint to choose us because of the spanish contingent here. and national team mates like to play at same club.

what happens to romeu

We dont need FELLAINI,and whoever thinks ROMEU is overrated bcos he got injured and lost confidence when the coach that bought him was fired is highly deluded.

Desmondadonis, I understand your concern about Romeu. My point is that after his injury he was not the same player. He looked real slow and out of shape. The reason I like Fellaini is that he is BIG and skillful. He just runs over people and there are few like him. Furthermore, he has skill. He has multiple skills to play multiple positions well. Romeu is like Mikel, a one position player. Its not that I don't like Romeu if he gets in shape, its just that Fallaini can play multiple position very well, is better and an upgrade. He is just a man amoungst children in the midfield and can dominate the mid-field with his physical play. I'll take big and skillful any day. Chels needs to get bigger with all of the new smurfs on the team...ha....

I like him but i think we need someone with more creativity and speed of play. Martinez should be our priority as he is very sound defensively, creative, fast and skillful. If city gets him and pair him with Toure in their Double pivot they will form a wicked combo and it will be hard to penetrate them. We should get him and pair him with Ramirez/Mikel depending on the game

Romeu will come good, he will be one of the top DM's in the world, he has the potential but his injuries affected him somehow

Desmondadonis i have nothing against mikel i just think the game has evolved now to the point where it's not enough as a defensive midfielder to to just defend and mikel for me just does not offer anything going forward while fellaini does,when essien was at the top of his game he dominated the midfield drove forward and scored goals we need to return to this, but the problem then occurs what happens to romeu.

@traykidd-- You remember r the age when Maka came to Chelsea, don't you?? He was small in size but yet he was tough, really tough. Can you say the same about Josh?? See, encouraging the talent is fine, but then Over-hyping the player is not, Josh needs time and also needs to bulk up before he can play in the position perfectly.
