'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Who`d Be Roy Hodgson?

With our opening game, against France, a matter of days away, Roy Hodgson doesn`t appear to be having much luck.

Having already seen his squad decimated by injury, he`s now having to conduct training with one of his key players, Ashley Cole laid up with a stomach bug.

It seems that the Chelsea quartet, originally selected, are not having the best of luck when it comes to fitness and health!

At least it's not long term and we have a good replacement in Leighton Baines.

Terry has declared himself fit but if for some reason both he and Cole are not available in the coming weeks, I will find it very hard to get behind England. Call me unpatriotic but there are too many players i despise from the Premier League in our squad, I was gutted that Lampard and Cahill couldn't make it and the only thing keeping my interest is the fortunes of the two Chelsea boys. If they don't play, I can't see myself getting behind England quite frankly, I just dislike too much of the squad. Luckily, both guys are fecking warriors and im sure won't miss a second of the tournament.

Terry & cole have to be howitzered not to play for england, the men are just fcking patriotic and almost indestructible!!

What I don't understand, pretty unrelated to the article but nonetheless, is that every single man in the squad is in the english leagues (excluding Scott Carson, though, he isn't going to the Euros). Are our players really so bad that they can't play in any other leagues??
GhostWriter
Or is the attraction of the premier league just far greater than that of any other leagues? (Or maybe are our players not built in the style required in other leagues?)

Henderson <3

@GhostWriter - it's not that, it's just that there is so much money and competition in the PL that English players have no reason to leave. Back in the day we had players going abroad all the time, Gascgoine to Lazio, Lineker to Barca, Hoddle to Monaco, Greaves to AC Milan etc (strangely all of them are spurs players - that wasn't my intention..) anyway, the point is, the Premier League is the the most competitve - high standard league in the world and so unless Barca/Madrid want you, english players have no reason to leave. The standard of our footballers has decreased recently, but foreign countries can no longer supply the money/glamour they once did for English players as they can get all that playing for United or Chelsea these days.

I'd go to the German league but what is the point in going to Spain unless it's one of the big two?
DeathByImpalement
Cole will make it and become the best in the tournament again.

Losing Ash will be a massive blow Baines would be a very good replacement.
Elbowz
Roy's biggest problem is not the injuries but the "play like Chelsea" media garbage he's being advised. Should England not play like Chelsea and lose, he's in big trouble. Should they emulate Chelsea and still lose (highly likely) the Rio issue will rear it's head...*pity him*
@Mq
He is in the middle of crisis if he do not make the right decisions now and games to come.
Kendemsblue
And the way they played shows it all.
