21/06/12 - Euro 2012 Match Day Moments

It`s back!

After a twenty-four hour break, due to there being a blank fixture day yesterday, we`re all eagerly awaiting the first of the quarter-finals with the Czech Republic taking on Portugal.

With the match having to be settled on the night, the small matter of a penalty shoot-out could rear its ugly head, although something tells me that if the Czech side gets that far they`ll be both delighted and reliant on a certain Petr Cech replicating the heroics of that night in the Allianz Arena on 19th May 2012.

The Czech side trotting out tonight will, courtesy of a pledge not to shave until they exit the tournament, look a right old hairy bunch but it is, of course, Portugal that will start as the favourites to win the fixture.

Any side with Cristiano Ronaldo in their ranks will present a danger and Chelsea fans will also be keeping a close eye out for Raul Meireles who`ll be prominent in the Portuguese midfield.

I get the impression that the longer this one goes on without Portugal edging ahead, the more the Czech side will fancy their chances. But, for me, there is going to be only one winner tonight and I reckon that, sometime this evening, in the sanctuary of his hotel room, Petr Cech will be reaching for that razor and removing the unflattering facial hair that has sprouted up since he left SW6 after our remarkable celebrations that Sunday afternoon.

Feel free to tune in and leave a few comments in our Match Day thread as the competition starts to separate the fortunate from the brave!

Hope Portugal don't score more than 3 goals as the Czech republic defence is just too porous. Hope Cech have a very great game.

Gebre Selassie looks like a class act so far were it not for a good block he could of had an assist. I think I could see us going for either him or Debuchy.

Great ball from Raul, Ronaldo hit the woodwork. Raul's long passes are more accurate than his short passes

Queresma was one talented dude but he just had to fade away. Nani has been quite wasteful

@Josevis, sorry, should of clarified, I meant so far in the tournament, not in the game, in this game he's actually been pretty quiet, but I was writing it just as he put in that cross.
