24/06/12 - Euro 2012 Match Day Moments

Cometh the hour cometh the man!

Or in England`s case, eleven men!

Tonight the nation will be glued to coverage of the fourth quarterfinal as England clash with Italy. For the winners, there`s the daunting task of playing a rampant Germany side in the semi-final, on Wednesday, but that`s a story for another day.

It would appear that expecting your nation to underachieve is the perfect incentive for a side to achieve something and with Roy Hodgson being the most likeable England manager for many a year, things are looking rosy.

Chelsea supporters will be hoping that Ashley Cole, winning his 98th cap, and John Terry will lead the England charge, but we can foresee a tight game which could be settled by a single goal. Anyone care to nominate a hero, or if it all goes wrong, a villain?

Join us tonight as all the action unfolds as a nations sits in its armchairs expecting England to edge home.

That reads like a bad Omen! - JT and AC leading the charge!! especially as they are defenders!! - Maybe its because England pass back to their own Gk so often you`ve confused them with Strikers! ;-)

Its going to be a tight affair today and the key battle will be in the midfield. Gerard/parker vs pirlo/de rossi. Looking forward to cheering for Ash & JT.

Trouty_Killer... Normally an article will appear on the front page a day or two after hitting the public. Someone has to take the initiative to write one. It does look phenomenal, no doubt about that.

Chelz Akamz... I'll be interested to see if De Rossi even plays in the midfield. He has spent most of the tournament in the back three, almost as a sweeper. Marchisio has also been great.

isnt this going the way are UCL journey went.??? ITALY(napoli) then the best teamGermany(bayern muncih) and then the epic clash barcelona.!!!The only differnce is shrek(rooney) or wellback arent even close to the comitment of DD they will need caroll to try and do a drogba like performance

Hmm, any good enough centre forward in the Spanish team to trouble Terry? I reckon that Di Natale may be hard to mark with his movement. But Balotelli and Cassano should be bread and butter for him. As for their defence, Rooney will have to be very well partnered to break down that defence. As for the midfield, that should be interesting. I'm really looking forward to how Parker & Co. will cope with Pirlo. Interesting match, I just hope both will go for the win. It would pi$$ me off if both teams' game plans are defending.

I would play Steve G. behind Rooney with [Milner-Parker] in the pivot and [Baines-Young] on the wings. There is no need to use 2 strikers in this type of game as England will need all the help they can get in midfield. Rooney,Gerrard,Baines,Young, Milner and Parker will compress the midfield and make it hard for Pirlo to spread the ball. Baines is disciplined, skillful and fast, he will put in accurate crosses for Rooney to score. Young will help Johnson in defence and put in crosses for Rooney from the RW.

@samex parker milner in the pivot and walcott on right and chamberlian on the other wing.!!!!but id like to see caroll starting over rooney in cntrefrwrd posn.! young and wellback will be the reason for england losing they dont care and if you see the earlier game rooney only passed the ball to his fellow urinated players

Good talk @samex.... Your line up should be the best bet to do the job against spain or germany but against italy they need to be more adventurous or else but will be down to penalties.
