Spurs and a Half Test

Spurs and a Half Test

After the boring international games and friendlies, we all hope at vital here that our players remain fit and injury free.

Injuries are a cause for concern and sincerely I for one wait with trepidation and anxiety till the break is over to access the squad and what damage control would be needed if any of our first teamers are unfortunately injured.

Alas guys, let us be optimistic and not filled with despair as our players don't get usually injured on the international stage.

Spurs are a team that are on form and are among a few of us playing good football presently in the league, they have good players in Dembele, Dempsey, Sigurdsson, Sandro, Vertoghen and a dangerous Defoe, to ignore their attacking threat would be suicidal, but a weakness we can explore will be their defence, which is nothing to write home about if not for the brilliance of Brad Friedel.

AVB will definitely be out for a revenge mission, but we can easily peg him back if we remain focused and use the right player selection.

Spurs is a team that thrive on pace and I envisage a highly entertaining game and bookings as usual, if RDM wins this game, it will announce us as firm title contenders and if we end up coming with a point which is more likely since the teams are always competitive between themselves.

Another line of worry will be that most Spurs players won't be participating as much as our players internationally, so RDM needs to be careful and wary of spurs abundant energy.

Moreover, we have a game that is as fierce as Spurs game in the Champions League against a Shaktar Donestk side which have not been beaten in 30 games in all competitions, a team that drew with a high flying Juve team in their home ground and was just unlucky not to have bagged the 3 points at stake. They have players who won't be going to any international games too and will have two weeks of more training and rest, players like William, Texeira, Costa and whoever they have there are fantastic players that don't have international commitments yet, so we need to be careful both in their home and away game to us, after which we'll host Man Utd in a double header both in the Premier League and Capital One Cup.

I think it is safe to say that the honeymoon is over for both RDM and Chelsea, now is the time for all Chelsea players to earn their pay and show the quality in face of stiff oppositions.

What is your take guys?

Can we triumph in this game rush?

Be afraid, be very very afraid. You are correct, we are in form but so are you. By the way.....we have TEN people on International duty be it full or otherwise. I see a close game at WHL but a 2 - 1 win for us will do very nicely. I think Mr Hate will be sitting this one out due to the start of his suspension.

Chuks lineup can do a decent job, we can beat spurs with that team or atleast a draw, Mix26 u are already scared of our threat aint u? I admit that its a lazy writeup, but my friends will have something to have a healthy debate on....andre's crouching, u have a good point by saying u guys are in form and both teams are fired up, I disagree that u guys will win, worst case scenario will be a draw, I can bet on it, we have over 14 first teamers on international duty.

Desmondadonis....14 team members on International duty is a huge amount I must say. Still you can only play 11 at any one time the same as us. If we can keep Mata quite then we home and hosed, I hope. Dembele will have a field day along with Ade, who I expect to play instead of Defoe.

Point of correction @desmond.. Worst result 4, poor result should be chelsea winning 2-1. But normal result 3-1, 2-0, good result. 'Ll be the repeat of fa.cup semi final. Remember that??? Chelsea 5 - 1 Spurs.

Chuks09, seriously mate, let's not be cocky right now, we all know spurs have almost the same talents as we do, when u look at bale, lennon, defoe, dembele, clint dempsey (who scores against us) and a couple of other players not to forget that obstinate and determined keeper friedel, it won't be a walk in the park, I'll be over joyous if we win, but I have a hunch that it might be a tie

Are u spurs guys really serious? So based on avb's revenge mission, u guys are going to win? U had better come debate ur points with pure proper football debate....aint u guys worried that RDM might know all his gimmicks and methods?

I think revenge will be the furthest thing in AVB's mind if I'm truthful. I think the media (all forms) have tried to discredit and unsttle him after what happened with you guys. As long as his players stick to his game plan and not get involved in anything untoward, he will be pleased. As long as the game goes without malice and everbody conducts themselves with in the laws, then we should have a good match. Although you have started the season very well, congrats on that, I think this will be your toughest game so far.

I can't/don't see us (chelsea) losing this match. At worst, we'll score one goal than spurs.

cant wait, will be a cracking game, ive really enjoyed watching chelsea so far this season which HAS NOT BEEN THE CASE for the last few seasons. some really exciting players on the ball in Hazard, Oscar and Mata. i read a stat somewhere yesterday that chelsea had created more chances than any other side from counter attacks this season in the prem and Spurs are 2nd with regards to that stat. got me thinking this will either be like a basketball game end to end or a very caget affair with no side looking to over commit bodies forward. will be very interesting. may the best team on the day win.

why do people sound so sacred of spurs. Avb was ***** for us. We are top of the league. We have the best defence and we are scoring for fun. Lets be positive people

@Spurs fans. Don't start telling me AVB doesn't want swift revenge! In his very first interview as Spurs manager he took more snide swipes at Chelsea than I could count. That's what he wants more than anything, a win against Chelsea.

I can't call the game to be honest, both sides are due a loss. I think we're the better side, with better players, but WHL does get rather emotional when we come to town and always gets the Spurs players fired up. I really can't call it. Both managers know a lot about each other, but both teams are drastically different from last year. Ones things for certain though, Spurs are a lot more bothered about this game than we are, and if we do end up losing it, boy will we know it. Every VS member will flood over here and stay until Christmas. You have been warned. But we are the better side and if we play like we have done in the last few games, we should get the 3 points.

The FA has issued a statement on Ashley Cole and a misconduct charge, plus there is further news on Ryan Bertrand 's illness. The statement on Cole reads: ' Ashley Cole has admitted an FA charge in relation to a Twitter comment which was improper and/or brought the game into disrepute. 'Cole has requested a non-personal hearing, the date of which has yet to be set' Cole is currently with the England squad ahead of Friday evening's match against San Marino however Bertrand withdrew on Thursday morning and returned to Chelsea. He will be reassessed on Sunday ahead of England's World Cup qualifier against Poland on Tuesday. The news of Bertrand's condition is he has a systemic viral infection.
