'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Oscar Delights!

I`ve said it before and I will say it again, international football bores me rigid!

I`ll only be paying a passing glance at the goings on at Wembley tonight, preferring to enjoy the company of my wonderful wife, away on an isolated caravan park with nothing but lakes for company for the next few days.

But, it has to be said; international football does have a degree of entertainment value, especially when it comes to our young Brazilian, Oscar

The youngster was the star of the show last night as Brazil trounced a very weak Iraq side with Oscar, scoring twice in the 6-0 rout and picking up the man-of-the-match accolade against a side who are coached by the Brazilian legend Zico.

we've got ourselves something special with this boy, oscar

I Don't Score, But When I Score, I Score In 2s.. Oscar.
chuks09
Chuks09, i love that.
BOTUM
That sounds positively idyllic Merlin! Where abouts are you taking Mrs M?
Hazzabee
I see You..@ Botum
chuks09
Oscar is better than Hazard!good thing they are both ours
Martinez#47
hazabee u got an ideal hangout for them?
morriati
Thank God we won the "OSCAR"
Ken4CFC
C'mmon martinez#47, they are two diff players, and peeps that knows hazard well are saying he is not in form yet, that when he is in form that he is unlayable, that he is still playing about 5% of his potantials, so I am excited..on oscar, he'll only get better and better, chelsea are playing two no.10s in games, there is no way both of em will be off form, so its a win win for us.
Desmondadonis
@martinez,how do u compare oscar and hazard for u to say oscar is better than hazard?i think the two r different in terms of their play and field position.
blue5
They're way different
chuks09
come on guys they are not so different, one thing both their prefferd position is the #10 role.Hazard is great,he can pass(i think people have not noticed how flawless his passing is yet),he can take a man on an beat him with sheer skill etc,but Oscar has got everything else his passing is supreme,he can defend(Pirlo,Arterta being shut down know this better than anyone else),he keeps it simple but when need be he opens his bag of tricks and gets out of the tight situation,In my opinion he is better than Hazard.Good thing they both play for us and are yet to reach their max potentials, but hey Im not saying that Oscar is better than Hazard by a mile its just a small difference like Silva and our own Mata difference.I'll leave you to judge who is better (Mata or Silva0 but one thing is for sure its a very small difference.
Martinez#47
He is truly a special player and on this i will admit i got it all wrong and the board were absolutely right..i could not see the purpose of us signing him when we got hazard but now it is so clear..the lad is so versatile..i really think he can do for us much of what frank used to and more. Great insightful pick up by our board..and his value will only increase in the next few years.

Neymar, 20, started the fixtures with Iraq and China as a 'false-nine' whilst Oscar and Kaká were charges with interchanging roles in attacking areas, whilst Hulk lined up on the right-flank. The system has overseen two emphatic wins over weak opponents, but Neymar believes that the Seleção are improving, as the coach tests the water with some new formations. "Mano is evaluating his options," Neymar told Rede Globo on Thursday night. "It's a good system [with no centre-forward], everyone is moving and always rotating who plays up-front. "Oscar scored twice and, for the most part, I played up front. The interplay was fluid and it's improving each time." The potent duo of Neymar and Oscar continue to impress and their figures for Brazil so far in their early careers are astounding - Neymar has amassed 14 goals and seven assists in his 24 games to date, while Oscar has four goals and four assists in his 10 appearances.

Great guy, loved his style of play from the very first time I saw him play... very intelligent, efficient, hard working and complete midfield player, reminds me of Zidane... I think he is a better midfield or Number 10 player than Hazard while Hazard is better on the wings (based on what I have seen so far)..
Latunvic
@Kaku, is playing with a false number 9 the future of top bracket football. Barca do it, Del Bosque used it in the Euros, now Brazil are trying it. Interesting to see.
Hazzabee
how can anyone say hazard is only playing 5% of his potential? how is that information even calculated?
Humza_96
By checking the Hazardometer3000. I believe Desmond has the only one in existence.
Hazzabee
Compare the performances today of Falcao and Messi against top level opposition in competitive matches that meant something and then compare that to Neymars showing against an abysmal Iraq yesterday. Those who keep saying this guy belongs in the same discussion as those two and other players like Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic are missing the plot. I feel sorry for the Selecao..they are living in self deception and Mano Meneses is pulling a screen over Brazils collective faces. When will he line up the Selecao against top level opposition because they are living in a fools paradise beating up on minnows like China and Iraq who wont even be at the world cup...They better get a dose a reality rather than waiting for the Concacaff tournament in 2014 just before the world cup to discover just how inferior they are compared to the real big boys of world International football.
GabeU
from now on lets make a conscious decision to all ignore @puyolbarca, no matter what he says, it seems our replies are keeping him here!!! we do that and he wont have any reason to come back on our site!
pego sama
Those who were saying here that it was a waste of money buying Oscar are the same ones jumping how chelsea did a good thing buying him. Fans never fail to amaze me. The future of chelsea looks great though.
Kendemsblue
They are the same that are going to change their names to Oscar.
Kendemsblue
@kendem... Don't mind them. I remember them saying no one(top clubs)is going for him. That he's very skinny, small. That we have piazon. That he'll rot on the bench.
chuks09
still surprised @Mq has not said anything about Oscar purchase and performance so far...or did i miss it?...@GabeU...interesting post about Oscar...he is fantastic buy...i liked him once i watched his Utube clip...myopic...but then it worked this time.
layorh12
cos i remember quite vividly @mq was quite outspoken as per how much he taught we did not need Oscar...funny old times!
layorh12
FoR someone to say Oscar is better then Hazard is really out of their wits. No offense to Oscar but Hazard at the moment is better I mean for goodness sake Hazard is the ONLY player along with Messi (not human) to average 15 goals and 15 assists in the TOP FIVE leauges last season. Hazard is the only Player to win back to back player of the year in the French Leaugue I mean This is something Zidane, Ronaldinho couldn't do. He had the highest dribbles Per game in the ENTIRE French Leaugue SECOND most goals the ONLY player In the history of the premier Leaugue to win THREE man of the matches In a row... I can go on. I know Oscar is special but right now you can't compare The two. Is special but right now he can't compare to Hazard.
Oscar10
Didn't do not couldn't sorry of course Dinho and ZIdane could do it if they Stayed there longer
Oscar10
Thank You very much@oscar10.
chuks09
If Oscar is winning over his doubters then am pretty sure he's doing something right. I hope he continues to do that. @chuks09, its ok for fans who tot he was bad biz to change their minds. Besides every new buy has to prove his worth so.....let's hope they continue to.
manzo2k6
@manzo. It's like you were among. But all desame.. You're Right.
chuks09
I knew Oscar was good from the first time i watched him play against Denmark for Brazil as a sub and he convinced me further with good performances in later games when he earned a starting role, especially the one against Argentina(in there world tours before the olympics ) but I got to say he has really been amazing and way better than i expected, but as to who's better that's a tough call, i think only time will tell cause they both have different but strong attributes oscar seems more intelligent than anyone on the field with his movement off the ball and spotting the right pass whilst Harzards close ball control, creativity and version for the game are clearly only second to Messi so i personally cant call it.
pego sama
Nigeria 6-1 Liberia. Moses scored 2goals, while Mikel scored 1 from the Penalty spot.
chuks09
Mikel for Nigeria from the spot and a Victor Moses brace enough to scale Nigeria to the 2013 AFCON @ S/Africa
Ikdaniels
It was great to see Kaka play like his former self. Hopefully he can mentor Oscar in to the Kaka of 2007, where he won Ballon D'Or. Oscar FTW
The Psychic Blue l9l
We are now set to lose mikel and Moses for the AFCON in January. Romeu and marin/piazon will be capable replacements by that time I hope.
manzo2k6
Does anyone know the code for Merlin's Vital Chelsea in fantasy premier league
MCshine
Those that want to see romeu should get ready coz mikel is off to south..
Chuks09
I have never been convinced by Neymar and he has actually been a false number 9 since Robinho was there. Its just that now he is playing poor opposition. To me his case is not any different to that of Robinho....talented, does wonders for Brazil and Santos but I am not convinced he has what it takes to ever reach heights of Messi, Ronaldo. Time will tell whether the talent will just be another one like Pato, Nani, Robinho or he can develop like Ronaldo. And recently there have been a chorus of alarm bells telling Neymar to move....and thats because he has stagnated. In 2 yrs we will be talking Oscar not Neymar. It was Ganso and co but you can see there is a gap between Ganso and Oscar.
OCBlues
Spot-on@ocblues.. Europe is the only place he'll/can prove himself. I remember when we're all screaming Ganso! Ganso!! Oscar is now the next big thing in Brazil, which is..in next years to come he might over shadow both neymar and ganso.
chuks09
Well done to the kid. It had always made sense in my opinion for RDM to ease him in, and give him a chance to climitize, not only to prem league, but to his new surroundings and team mates. @Desmond, I think it is far fetched to say Hazard is only using 5% of his talent. @Oscar10 - big difference going from Ligue1 to Prem league or spanish league for that matter.. If Hazard continues the form and stats that he showed in Ligue1, then I think we could maybe starting putting him on the pedestal. Until he has done it in the best leagues though I personally dont think we can (yet) put him in the Messi/Ronaldo brackets. Ligue1 is the 5th best league after Prem, Spanish, German, Italian IMO
BlueKiwi
when Sturridge scores 'similar' goals he's called a goal poacher (nothing outstanding they say) but when Oscar scores similar goals he's a genius...*just saying*
@Mq
Oscar's still a brilliant nonetheless and although I called him a vanity purchase (at the time) his signing is proving to be a genius :)
@Mq
It is just that someone saw what we never saw in this kid and I realized that he is a good tackler too. Really fights to harass the opposing team and fight back for possession
Kendemsblue
There are also the unsung heros at chelsea which really concerns the manager.
Kendemsblue
Just hope Oscar matures with chelsea
