'If It's Football, It's Vital'

No Longer an Untouchable!

Well that told it as it is didn`t it!

At the pre-match press conference, ahead of the clash with Liverpool this Sunday, Roberto Di Matteo laid it on the line as far as John Terry goes.

Those expecting our club captain to be an automatic inclusion in the first team were left reeling in their seats when Di Matteo remarked,

"John is a fantastic player and a great defender. He will continue to be our captain and leader when he plays"

"I am aware of what he means. I know the history of the club and the players, and I`ve known JT since he was a very young man."

"He will be a big asset for us, on and off the pitch and I`m glad he`s back. Now we can focus on football. That`s good for us."

"But I don`t think anybody is guaranteed a starting place. All the players have to work and fight for their place in the team."

Now I wonder if a certain Andre Villas-Boas is watching, listening and learning!

It seems there`s a way of doing things and a way of not doing things.

Hahahahahahahahahaha @ that penultimate sentence. Lesson learnt: Stubborness will only harm
Ibidayo
He is just taking advantage for the fact that JT has been suspended for allegedly racism and he is speaking onbehalf of those 2 men who we wear suits usually see s lot when we re losing. We need a strong CB before he can declare that or he's playing mind game's with the media.
shaka09
That was just a by the way. Terry is one of the finest defenders in the world and RDM knows it. Without him Chelsea play crap in defence. Luiz is not a defender at all. In fact i am relieved he's back and we'll begin playing with some sane defending. CAPTAIN, LEADER, LEGEND.
BOTUM
We need JT in that team ASAP, we need to keep luiz away from important games for awhile, he needs to work his brashness out of his game.
Desmondadonis
Lets see what he'll do tomorrow.. But i believe RDM woun't bench a fully fit JT
chuks09
I agree with BOTUM that JT is one of the best defenders in world football, however even the greatest need managing & that's surely what RDM is doing. Sometime in the next 2 to 3 years there will be 2 center backs at Chelsea who are better than John, they may actually already be at the club but need to improve as John declines, as he surely will. The CL win has given Robbie the right to make big calls & even if he eventually fails, as almost all football managers do, at least he will fail doing it his way, not being influenced by reputation or history, but by what he believes to be best for our club on any given matchday.

changing times at the bridge... Drogs has left, Essien was loaned and might be out soon, Lamps, Cole could leave us in the summer and Terry and Cech now are the only ones left as our spine players of the last decade. All we can do is evolve with the time, but Terry is not done yet with cfc
Tiraspol
still our leader and legend, most successful captain of CFC.
darilngblue
Terry is the slow. Strikers are fast. Bad combination.

The 2 players looking for 2yrs contracts are out injured.. Meaning the Board knows what they were / are doing.
chuks09
Good to hear rdm also acknowledge the fact that every player must fight 4 their shirt
Ken4CFC
JT Chelsea's achievements speak for itself, whatever happens now, he's done his bit and would forever be remembered as a legend.
objectivekritic
That is good and let these players know that the manager calls the shot
Kendemsblue
Hope he is given the freedom to choose his team.
