Target Fellaini?

Target Fellaini?

The name of Marouane Fellaini graces the back-pages of two of the Sunday tabloids this morning.

One, the Sunday People, infers that Roman Abramovich is set to sanction a £30 million January move for the Everton star with it also being mentioned that Roberto Di Matteo sees the powerful Belgian as the ideal player to assist / replace Torres - as the situation deems, or add some much needed muscle to what some perceive as a lightweight midfield.

The other, the Sunday Mirror, paints a completely different picture inferring that Arsene Wenger has ear-marked the player as his prime, must-get January transfer target.

Shall we all sit back and see what happens?

Fellaini is a great player, but I feel he is most useful in the CAM position, which is quite frankly overly occupied. However with his power and tehcnique he might be the perfect pivot player for Chelsea. The biggest problems with him are firstly that he will cost 30M and secondly that he will be competition for McEachran, who if he goes on with his brilliant performances should be entitled to a place in the starting eleven in the next season.

As a pivot player, he will just vacate and expose Mikel like Lampard did. By the way, Josh and co are doing very very well.

Fellani is good going forward but he also has the strength, good tackles and passes. That makes him an excellent player to replace Mikel in the DM. We really need Fellani as a better shield for our back four. In times of need we can play him in our band of three as well. Buy fellani plus get Falcao/Bony or Martinez/Bony and we can as well call Lukaku back from loan. My expectations this January. Yeah it is very possible....Let go Sturridge and Torres at any reasonable prize. It will make us a lot of good.

Fellaini for Mikel is a mistake. Fellaini for anyone else just won't happen.

Fellaini is never in defensive coverage. We only need a sharp defensive midfielder and a prolific striker. And fellaini didn't qualify in any.

I admit that Fellaini neglects his defensive duties at times ,but this is because of the position he plays on.As a CM,he will have to stay back and cover his man.His aggression, though, can be very useful when we press the opposition and his body balance and technique make him a good choice for a pivotal player.I have no concrete observations on his passing game .

Fellaini is a player I have so much admiration for, he's such a joy to watch and has excellent goal scoring records. It wouldnt hurt to have such a player in our team.

Fellaini I must say is not what we need, we need a player in the mould of vidal, fernandinho etc, we need a striker first then we can now see what we need and who is available in january for the right price. Off topic, I heard that man city are in poll position to buy falcao for £45m and he is demanding for a salary of £5m annually, which aint too bad. Cos its about £105,000 per week

I admire fellaini though, but if we are to get him, then mikel have to go, as they play similarly, its just that fellaini scores more often. But he is a tad slow too

I really like Fellaini...He is now moved forward playing the #10 (Mata) position at Everton. However, that doesn't mean that he can play a more defensive holding position. That is were he started. He is a far better all around player than Mikel as he does have skill and can pass the ball a little. With that being said, I would still have a passer playmaker play next to him as I would not ask Fellaini to play that position. So for example it could be McEachran and Fellaini. Mikel is not a passes and Ramires is worse than Mikel. The pivot is an area that can clearly improve. That doesn't mean that there would not be a place for either Ramires or Mikel on the team.
