Target Fellaini?

The name of Marouane Fellaini graces the back-pages of two of the Sunday tabloids this morning.

One, the Sunday People, infers that Roman Abramovich is set to sanction a 30 million January move for the Everton star with it also being mentioned that Roberto Di Matteo sees the powerful Belgian as the ideal player to assist / replace Torres - as the situation deems, or add some much needed muscle to what some perceive as a lightweight midfield.

The other, the Sunday Mirror, paints a completely different picture inferring that Arsene Wenger has ear-marked the player as his prime, must-get January transfer target.

Shall we all sit back and see what happens?

Funny... Assist/Replace Torres???
Fellaini is a great player, but I feel he is most useful in the CAM position, which is quite frankly overly occupied. However with his power and tehcnique he might be the perfect pivot player for Chelsea. The biggest problems with him are firstly that he will cost 30M and secondly that he will be competition for McEachran, who if he goes on with his brilliant performances should be entitled to a place in the starting eleven in the next season.
As a pivot player, he will just vacate and expose Mikel like Lampard did. By the way, Josh and co are doing very very well.
he was amazing dis week...:) i think he is an attacking version of mikel...
Fellani is good going forward but he also has the strength, good tackles and passes. That makes him an excellent player to replace Mikel in the DM. We really need Fellani as a better shield for our back four. In times of need we can play him in our band of three as well. Buy fellani plus get Falcao/Bony or Martinez/Bony and we can as well call Lukaku back from loan. My expectations this January. Yeah it is very possible....Let go Sturridge and Torres at any reasonable prize. It will make us a lot of good.
Fellaini for Mikel is a mistake. Fellaini for anyone else just won't happen.
Fellaini is never in defensive coverage. We only need a sharp defensive midfielder and a prolific striker. And fellaini didn't qualify in any.
Most Chelsea buy every player in the market?
I admit that Fellaini neglects his defensive duties at times ,but this is because of the position he plays on.As a CM,he will have to stay back and cover his man.His aggression, though, can be very useful when we press the opposition and his body balance and technique make him a good choice for a pivotal player.I have no concrete observations on his passing game .
Fellaini is a player I have so much admiration for, he's such a joy to watch and has excellent goal scoring records. It wouldnt hurt to have such a player in our team.
Fellaini I must say is not what we need, we need a player in the mould of vidal, fernandinho etc, we need a striker first then we can now see what we need and who is available in january for the right price. Off topic, I heard that man city are in poll position to buy falcao for 45m and he is demanding for a salary of 5m annually, which aint too bad. Cos its about 105,000 per week
I admire fellaini though, but if we are to get him, then mikel have to go, as they play similarly, its just that fellaini scores more often. But he is a tad slow too
We need him only for one month to replace mikel when he travels to play africa cup of nation
Replacement for Lampard! - I hope. I also hope Falcao to replace Torres! Sorted.
Good player, but not needed....
I really like Fellaini...He is now moved forward playing the #10 (Mata) position at Everton. However, that doesn't mean that he can play a more defensive holding position. That is were he started. He is a far better all around player than Mikel as he does have skill and can pass the ball a little. With that being said, I would still have a passer playmaker play next to him as I would not ask Fellaini to play that position. So for example it could be McEachran and Fellaini. Mikel is not a passes and Ramires is worse than Mikel. The pivot is an area that can clearly improve. That doesn't mean that there would not be a place for either Ramires or Mikel on the team.
Fellaini is a good player and i really admire him and i think he is enjoyin his new role behind the striker(SS) this season which i dont think we are lackin at the moment
finally we'll have a stronger DM to complement Ramires, Mikel is a waste
finally we'll have a stronger DM to complement Ramires, Mikel is a waste
Needless to say @mq to say Mikel is a waste is laughable..he is one of the virtual sure starters in the side for so long now despite being only 25. That said i like Fellaini..if we went for him Everton would charge us heavily but there are few players in the BPL today who are more versatile than this guy. He has competently played at least 4 different poisitions; DM, CM, CAM and CF. Hie height and physical strength would also be a welcome addition for us as our front line is looking more and more like a platoon of midgets other than El nino.
we shd try De Rossi....Fellani can be used in the hole...can help us play a false 9....good options...but 30m shd be the limit...not more than that.
best thing is that he is very high on confidence now just like falcao...we dont want players to bought when they are low on confidence...hope we already learnt that lesson with our striker
I'll clarify...when you play some1 as a starting player in a position where you know there are numerous better players for that same position are you not wasting the chance to use that position effectively GABEU??
Mikel is nowhere close to being a starter for team with ambitions such as Chelsea FC. He is a squad player at best. We haven't won a single Cup when Mikel has been the starting DM and, having seen how this season is going with him virtually guaranteed that starting position, it's broad as daylight the guy isn't good enough. It's no wonder we getting linked to players like Fellaini because truth or not, there are people that see Mikel is not good enough for a top club. Dare I say we release him (sell or contract run out) and he'll be like Kalou, going to an average club. He's not good enough, simply put
Only that price!
@Mq quoting 'We haven't won a single Cup when Mikel has been the starting DM'....hahaha...i think he forgot the most elusive cup with big ears last year....heigh of hipocrisy from him...just bad-wording everyone he doesnt like...(started with Lampard, RDM, Mikel)
I think Fellaini will be a direct replacement for Lampard...(If the rumours of fellaini are true)...welcome news on Lampard & Cole...both will be gone for good in the summer at the max...
we had 5 DM's and 4 defenders in those matches BLU_RUN there hasn't been a Cup we've won playing 'decent' football with Mikel as the starting DM
how you choose the Cup when we played defensive garbage as an example beats me...*smh*
I think the reason we r linked with Fellani is bcos we let 2 players go (Essien,RM) and lampard might leave so we look light in dat area come the end of the season. But i think Josh is progressing well. I love Fellani but would support buying him only if we let either Mikel or Romeu go.
Quite a decent player to be precise
We actually need another workaholic in that mid.
