Is it me or did something change the instant John Terry went down with a bad injury?
Was that the moment that things started to swing in the direction of Liverpool as we contemplated being without our leader for a long period of time?
Did the passing of the armband to Petr Cech see us lose that bit of drive and the enthusiasm that seemed to be seeing us take control?
Three questions that might spark a discussion!
But one thing is for certain, this morning we`re left to rue the fact that we didn`t take advantage of the chances we did create or of the sloppy passing that Liverpool were often guilty of and, in the end, we were left to hang on grimly for a point, thankful to Petr Cech for his coolness and ability.
After the final whistle and facing the press, Roberto Di Matteo gave his views of how he thought things had gone, remarking to the media,
"We needed to score a second goal to kill the game off and we had the chances to do that but missed the opportunities."
"A 10 lead is always dangerous and it was a poor goal to concede from a corner because we had our man-marking in place and Suarez pushed Ramires away to create the space to nod the ball in."
"Sometimes the ref spots those little shoves, sometimes they don`t."
"When United won here we had two sent off and they scored an offside winner and that`s a big advantage for the opposition."
"But we`re still playing well and creating chances and we`re in much better shape than in previous years and very close to our best."
"We`re still in the mix but the amount of games we have played in this period has some kind of effect."
It certainly has and one win in our last three Premier League games is cause for concern.
Let`s hope our annual bad moment hasn`t started early!
