Sturridge - Not Necessarily So!

Sturridge - Not Necessarily So!

I`ve a sneaking suspicion that Daniel Sturridge will get another England cap this Wednesday evening.

With Roy Hodgson using the friendly international, against Sweden, as the chance to give those on the fringe of the national side a chance to show their skills, the withdrawal of Wayne Rooney could see Sturridge let off the leash.

Previously, the red-top press have spouted on about how Daniel (wrongly or rightly) perceives that he might be forced to leave Stamford Bridge to get the regular football that you`d suspect is required t remain part of the England set-up, but that doesn`t now appear to be the case with Sturridge remarking ahead of the fixture,

"The England manager has made it clear that players do not have to start for their clubs to play for England."

"That is a huge leap of faith for players like myself who are not playing regular first team football."

"The manager understands our situation, knows what we are going through and is trying to help us through that. I am getting my head down and focusing on the game on Wednesday. I`m not worrying about the situation at my club."

"I will get my opportunity at some stage and when I do, I will show what I can do."

"I`m playing centre forward now, which is what I`ve wanted since I played for Chelsea."

"I`m glad now that I`m able to stake a claim for the centre forward position and I`m looking forward to doing that."

Am I the only one who finds it strange, or indeed even an indication of how the international set-up has changed, when a player can lead the line for England but can`t make his club team on a regular basis!

Leads me even more down the path that DM has no jurisdiction over the striker that he plays. Would love to see Sturridge get a chance. What have we to lose???

He needs a jolt of confidence. I wish he could score a goal or two, so that RDM would put him as striker this coming weekend. He had to go to Bolton to prove his worth; maybe he'll prove his worth in the English national team and show RDM that he can cut it.

Now, I am not sure if he can cut it, but at the present time - I wouldn't mind giving him a chance. I don't think the Torres-sans Drogba experiment is working out at all like many fans had hoped for. Anyways, we are out of options, so I hope that someone can step up to the plate. Can it be Danny?

If he scores for England do you envisage him starting ahead of Torr-Mented1 vs West Brom, or at the very least playing more than 20 minutes?? *food for thought*

Good if he play well and score. Will put pressure on RDM to consider starting him this Saturday. But note as for his demand, he has no future as a striker in CFC.
