New Right Back Coming?

Reports are rife this morning that Chelsea are expected to finalise the £4.5m signing of Brazilian right back Wallace, 18, over the weekend.

His agent Frederico Moraes said: 'There are very advanced negotiations with Chelsea and the signature is almost certain.'

There had been rumours around that Roma could take the player on a temporary basis but this was also ruled out.

'If Wallace goes to Chelsea, he will be playing there,' Moraes added. 'I had contact with Roma and many other Italian clubs, but that was a long time ago.

'I rule out the possibility of a loan [from Chelsea to Roma]. If he joins Chelsea he will play for the Blues.'

I don't know much about this kid, but apparently he's quite exciting for his age!

If he makes it to the first team now, or even the bench for that matter, that would signal the end of Brana's days as a right-back is for sure. He'll get his wish too, to play in the center. Then Azpi gets promoted to a starter, which based on how he's done recently, is pretty good for us. Though I still think he might go out on loan. 18's too tender an age even for the Chelsea bench.

Carefre_1990 got the words exactly out of my mind, I really don't know much about this kid's playing ability, but for the fact that he is an integral part of their team which won the brasiliero, then he might be worth a punt, but I am more interested with the others who we have at fluminense, ronan and a certain pernao. Hope we get a good player in wallace and ivanovic can move back to CB and we can recall kalas to understudy both terry and cahill as a CB and we'll be sorted there next season.

@carefree_1990 18's too young 4 d chelsea bench? How come powell is in man u's first team (even with scholes, cleverley, anderson, rooney, giggs, kagawa all in his position), how come varane plays 4 d madrid first team (with carvalho, pepe, ramos all in d same pos), how come rooney bcame a star player at man u when he was 18. Why do some chelsea fans act like hypocrites, they said we shuld blood in youth into dis team and flush out d old guard 2 plan 4 d future now they say a promising youth (who is a starter at his club) is nt good enough 4 our bench? We shuld just move ivanovic 2 d centre and cesar 2 right back cos ivanovic does nt really offer much going forward and he his better in the center of d defence. Now d question shuld b who partners him, cahill or luiz?

This is Chelsea, don delsy, if we did stick our neck out and give the kids a proper chance, right now we wouldn't have been fresh out of strikers with the likes of Feruz and Bamford in our youth squad. The managers are under way too much pressure to put their faiths in kids. It's only very recently that is changing, and who knows what our plans for Wallace are? I'll be chuffed if I see Azpi starting every game for us, after I saw him vs United and LFC I was thinking "here's a proper right back after a long while, perhaps the first since Petrescu". So if Wallace can prove he's good enough to make the bench right away, it totally works for me.

Looks a nice buy since Ferreira is closing on retiring and Iva coming to that age they say a year rolling that is not certain

I agree with others that this signing may see the end of Iva at RB and his return to CB where frankly he has looked better than in the past. Cesar would certainly be our staring RB in that case and the boy is think just last season we had Bosingwa oft playing in that position for us...I do wonder though as far as the potenttial 4th CB for us when JT hangs it up..i would have preferred Bruma but i see some are considering Kalas is nice to see the board planning many steps ahead as regards our back if they could just do the same with our forwards/strikers.

Carefree_1990 - Iva always wanted to play as a right back...... he said "I see myself as a right back.. but I can play in CB if my manager wants"..........

Hopefully we groom his defensive abilities....we all know what brazilian full backs are like!

the persian...I agree, he's always wanted to play full back and has mentioned it on many occasions. I don't know where people seem to get the idea that he is a centre back. He played full back for Lokomotiv and he plays full back for Serbia. Just because he happens to be good at CB too doesnt mean he is a centre back

Ess...DaBison - he made many mistakes at CB last season... but yeah, sometimes he plays good at CB............... Wallace and groom-it :)... hope he turns out to be a good buy coz these days , good full backs are rare
