cazorla is a good player yes, but mata right now is on a different plane completely. Twice we have started Romeu and Mikel and both times we have needed Ramires to come on at half time. We are seriously short of pace in central midfield. If i look at it positively, Romeu has learnt his lesson from last time out and will provide the shield. But, a big but, is that west brom counter and we lack pace. Azpilicueta and Moses on the right should be fine. Sturridge and Bertrand on the left is dangerous.

If RDM shows the same faith in Sturridge as he is doing with Oscar and Hazard I am 100% convinced he will do good things for us

Guys i am getting very afraid here..shane Long has missed two clear chances that on another day he would have put away. We could easily be 3-0 down here..it looks like we will have to bring mata into this game to even save a point from this game. Compare the games of El Nino to Long and you see what it means to have a real center forward on the pitch.

RDM cannot be blamed here. He made the changes to try and save players for the juve match but it is apparent to even salvage a point from this game we need to bring in Mazacar again..our defense hasnt exactly covered themselves in glory other than Cesar. Our DMs have also been rather poor because Morrison has been having his way in the center midfield.

We now run the danger of being hit on the counter attack with all the pressure we are bringing but we have no choice..we have to gamble here as we are down a goal.

Marin........What would Marko Marin have done today? He has 28 goals in 204 appearances in his career. How would that have worked? Demba Ba, Chichi, or a decent striker upfront and we would have won this game.....Don't see how Marko Marin solves that.....

I think defense lost us this game, Luiz and Cech. Gotta say Luiz was so bad today, it amazes me how easily Long got away from him to score the first one and also Petr Cech could've done better in both goals or at least in the 2nd one. Nothing to blame RDM for imo, he made the right subs at the right time but their players let him down today. DEFENSE is putting our offensive players under too much pressure. We always have to come from behind and that eventually wears you off...

You cant say its impossible that we wont win anything with the quality players we got and RDM did the right thing, he changed the team because of the midweek games. Ramires, Oscar, Mata, ivanovic all played in midweek and only had one day to recover and baring in mind juve game he had to make changes orelse MAZACAR who have been tired and we need them for this game. Moses and Hazard werent ineffective, they were creating west brom all sorts off problems especially on the left. I say it again west brom were just lucky, if he had taken our chances we would have won.

Chelsea will win nothing this year if they continue to play Luiz and Torres every week. John Terry brings much needed stability to the team but I'm not having people say 'the Cahill/Luiz' partnership doesn't work. How can you legislate the mistakes that Luiz makes? Awful defending which has gone past a joke for Longs goal. Also what is Ryan Bertrand actually good at? Not particularly great at defending as shown in Odemwengie's goal and distinctly average going forward. Also whilst Sturridge didn't actually have a bad game today there's no way he's good enough to play for a side like Chelsea. Come January I think its time to dump both Torres and Sturridge (won't happen) and get a real quality CF and a goal poacher as well.

I was explaining your idea of resting tired players not that you said anything about him. You learn to reason better and think out of the box. And you and I are entitled to our own individualistic opinions

The second half was better because of the players that came in, how many chances did we have in the first half? We had played like that from the start we would have won, play your strongest team get comfortable and bring in your substitutes. All the players we tried resting eventually still played 25-30mins so why not start them get comfortable lead and remove them for the rest you want.

Painful loss no doubt by our standard as fans and as a club…we could have won the match but truth is we did not..the truth no matter how one looks at Chelsea, we are still a team in transition..yes we had a good start but it does not change the fact that we are a team in transition. Despite this fact, I made some observations: I have watched Bertrand closely this season, he is a decent young player but not an excellent left back or left sided mid field….decent is the word to describe him. As a left back, he was all over the place against Shaktar (to be honest), almost single handedly costing us the match, and was not good today (together with Luiz). I think the path of wisdom is either give Ashley cole a decent 2 year extension so that we can observe how Bertrand evolve, or sign a decent left back that can slot in immediately while Bert remains a squad player…. We are short in central midfield and we need one extra player to compliment Mikel and Ramires..Romeu is still a bit far off…Wish Essien had stayed at least for this season, he has been playing decently well at madrid but that’s history… I will keep the striker bit simple. FT9 no more deserves to be on our payroll and while Sturidge is clearly an upgrade on FT9, he is not good enough to be our first choice striker, he is an able back up at best. Before you argue it, just look at our rivals and check their main strikers..Man U (Van persie), City (Aguero or Tevez), and even outside England, it’s the same. Just to make a point to FT9, we should make Danny the first choice striker till January and by then get in a quality striker, it does not have to be 50 million, but someone that has positional sense and that can actually finish. If Long or Odemwinge was our striker today, I have no boubt that we would have won. By January, Torres should be sold for whatever price before he inflicts the dressing room with a sulking attitude. Lets deal with it, not all investments work out and bear fruit. So while we are still in transition, I think we need two players (if we extend Cole’s contract) or three if we don’t…A quality striker, a central midfielder and a left back (if we choose to release Cole)…Although may be a smart thing to do will be to sign a quality striker, give Cole a two year contract and recall Essien..Whatever we do…truth is we are still 3-4 players short of overall quality and it is so obvious… And RDM need to stop playing Romeu-Mikel, they are both defensive and we are one player short in the attacking third...none of both is a box to box...an appropriate double pivot in my opinion is a DM and a box to box...i hope RDM is learning...even though one has to start thinking if he will realistically finish two years here let alone an extension NB: if Barca comes back with at least 25 million for Luiz, we should sell without much taught.

Guys...I hope its getting clearer that Betrand is not eady to step into Ashley shoes. He was the weekest link asides from Torres though. I however believe he would get bette if he gets starts against smaller teams. This we should have been doing since last year. I feel we were just unlucky not to win.

@pego sama and @sojofjand: Guys, Mata travelled from England to Panama and only got back on thursday, Oscar and Ramires went to the US and only got back on thursday. This trips destroy you mentally and physically because of the time differences and the long hours in the plane. You ever travelled at all? Most people need at least a week to get used to the jet lag. Also, considering that we have a CRUCIAL match against Juventus on TUESDAY it was a very good decision to rotate today imo. It was a no brainer. I think defense lost us the game today, simple as that. They shot twice and scored twice, ridiculous.
