I started writing this post for a different thread before Benitez was confirmed as interim coach so have added this intro & left the rest. I know that his appointment has divided opinion & in all honesty I imagine most would have preferred just about anyone else, given our recent battles with the scousers, but maybe he got up our nose because he was actually quite good at his job? Regardless, the future is what matters & for now lets hope Benitez becomes a club legend in a short space of time, I personally would sup with the Devil himself if it brought success to my beloved blues. I agree with all the good things others have said about Robbie & he will forever have the accolade of being the first Chelsea manager to win the big one, though I hope he's not destined to be the only one, at least not for very long. If I'm honest I'm not surprised, Gardiola's sabbatical coupled with RDM's CL win backed our owner into a corner where he really only could appoint Robbie, & I guess Roman doesn't enjoy not feeling 100% in control. That we have under performed in recent weeks is undeniable though who is mostly responsible is debatable; RDM getting selection/ tactics/ substitutions wrong or players not carrying out instructions? I'd definitely rule out the players not being good enough, albeit with a couple of exceptions. But the person I blame the most is whoever decided that we could operate till at least January with only 2 strikers, meaning we were only ever an injury or suspension or loss of form away from disaster, and the person who decided we could manage without the proven experience of both Essien & Mirielles in center midfield, making it difficult for the coach to change shape during a game. The trouble is I don't know who this person (or people) is/ are. It might be Robbie, or Michael Emeleano, or Bruce Buck, it might just be Roman; I hope I live long enough to find out.

I have to say that as much as I loved Robbie I saw this coming - he was never really wanted by the board because (IMO) they did not think tactically he was up to the job - an opinion I shared - despite this I really hoped he would prove them (and me) wrong but it was not to be. If I can't have Jose back (and lets face it there is still a chance for that) - then I will take someone who has experience, has crossed swords with the likes of Big Red Nose and is not afraid of players with big reputations! Managerial drama season/episode 9 is just about to begin. Of the first eight episodes, the second(jose), five(hindink) and six(carlo) episodes were best and most enjoyed series.... But the last episode(robbie) was the classic that will out live the rest. Roman has gambled once more....will this be the one that will backfire terribly right back on our faces.... Only time will tell. I'm not optimist for once and wont want my emotions toll with again for now. Roman has spent 10% of his gross wealth on cfc. Which is for him is huge and we thank him. However i have 50 quid in my savings account and have spent untold amounts on strips. He gave JM a really tough time, he made stars out of players like Alonso, Arbeloa, Gerrard, Macherano, Torres. He got to 2CL finals and a semi-Final in 6 seasons. The Liverpool board refused to give him enough cash so he had to go for crapy cheap players like Babel, Aquilani etc to replace sold players. Imagine the kind of stars he will bring in with Romans cash. He has even gotten better since then and may end up surprising everyone.
