Maybe Rafa is the Right Choice?

Ok, ok, so I know lots of people here don't want Rafa as our 'interim' manager. But, let's face the face, he is. Want him or not, it's irrelevant, because we don't decide these things. But, everyone is entitled to an opinion, so you're welcome to vent your anger at this appointment - that's why this site is here.

RDM was clearly not the man for the job long term. The board took a fair while to appoint him, and even then, he was only given a two year contract. Yes, I will never forget what he did for us - I was there in Munich - but RDM's experience and his tactical abilities were only going to get us so far.

When anyone is appointed a new manager, there is usually a lift in results as players tend to get motivated by the new appointment and they play better to impress the new man. That happened when RDM took over and, of course, we won the CL. No one can deny the gods were smiling in our favour towards the end of last season either, so RDM did bring a certain element of luck with him as well.

But, should we congratulate the board for acting now, as opposed to later in the season when results continued to deteriorate? Looked what happened last year - it all started well, and then went rapidly downhill. It seems to be happening again, at roughly the same time, and with RDM's limited experience, maybe the board have done the right thing in acting now to prevent it all getting worse.

So what about Rafa? Yes, he said we lack passion. Many Chelsea fans will never back him purely for that comment. But at the time, he was employed by Liverpool and Chelsea were the enemy. It's just a job - he was doing and saying the right thing to help Liverpool Football Club and their fans. It's just words, mind games - Old Red Nose is the master of this.

'Rafa Benítez has been the most important coach in my career. He has been the only one who knew how to help me improve. His priority is the team but he adapts the conditions to make everyone fit in the team. That's his secret. He taught me a lot and thanks to him I matured as a professional.'

These are the words of Fernando Torres, a man Benitez plucked from Atlético Madrid for a little more than £20m in July 2007. Benitez turned him into one of the world's most feared centre-forwards. I don't need to remind you that same centre forward plays for us, and if anyone can get the best out of Torres, it is our new interim manager.

That having been said, it would be slightly ambitious to believe that Benitez can get the same out of Torres now than what he did at Liverpool, but after spending £50m in luring Torres to Chelsea, and no one can deny that given his ability Torres could still deliver for us, don't you think Roman Abramovich has the right to roll the dice one more time and try? It's his club, his money, if he wants to try to bring in Rafa to get Torres back to his best, then who's to argue?

I, for one, will be very happy if Torres finds the same form for Chelsea as he did for Liverpool. And there won't be one genuine Chelsea fan who disagrees with me. Torres banging them in left right and centre for Chelsea would be a lovely sight.

As any Liverpool or Valencia supporter will happily point out, Benítez's skills stretch far beyond his ability to get the best out of Torres. Rafa Benitez is a man who over nine years won the Uefa Cup, two La Liga titles, the Champions League and the FA Cup. He also came within four points of winning the Premier League. For those of you wanting Harry or Avram - can we say the same about them? No, clearly, Rafa is a good manager with vast experience. We're in the sh*t, we need someone with experience to help us. Not many managers available who have the same resume as Benitez!!

Transfers? Oh yeah, and people are also raving on about how poor Benitez is in the transfer market. Well, you seem to also conveniently forget the successes. He bought top class players such as Xabi Alonso, Pepe Reina, Daniel Agger, Martin Skrtel, Javier Mascherano and Fernando Torres. Get your blinkers off lads, Rafa isn't that bad. Quite the opposite in fact.

So before you all get on your high horses and slam Benitez before he's even set foot on the training ground, just take a note of the above will you. We're in the crap, we've got a man with an impressive resume, vast experience, he's willing to join only until the end of the season, he knows the Premiership inside out, he knows Torres like no one else, the board have acted at a time when things can be fixed (eg the league), and more importantly, let's give the man a chance before you all turn on him.

with the article, not the guy saying 'no'.
arbor9
yea but sacking avb and getting rdm in march won us the CL/FA cup. hiddink in feb would have won the CL/FA cup double if it werent 4 that prik ovrebo. avram grant gt knocked out of 2 finals unluckily and was lvl on points wiv manu until the 38th game. history shows our interims do well
Humza_96
Oh and Fernando Torres can ****k off. He's actually making Shevchenko look good. Shevchenko was 30 when he signed for us, and he was still faster, and more technical than Torres.
k.chelski
Rafa the right choice? please
TafChels
I fully support the authors' opinion....Robbie has done his shift...i feel rafa will do well given his tactical acumen...pls let us give him time to work with the team. Robbie was out of his depth tactically...its sad but true and players are no slouches they can tell when the coach is not up to scratch! After the 4-1 rout by athletico, the 2-2 draw with juventus, the writing was on the wall
dozzy
you make great points , rafa might not be my first choice interim but i dont hate him , i honestly dont give a s*** about what he said about our passion , why should we care ha , anyways torres has little over a month to make an impact , if he scores 5-8 goals by the end of december ill jump with joy , same if we regain 1st position and smash the citizens , I hope the fans dont boo him , that affects the entire team , i hope for the best for cfc.
CFCTalal
feck torres and feck the fat waiter well not happy
trouty_killer
nice article u said it all thanks
habbo
I am sorry that this is happening. Roman gets Rafa to help Torres regain his form? I have been supportive of every manager in the Roman era (well maybe not Phil), but I am not supportive of Rafa Benitez.
ddrogba
and to the people slamming him , hes not even in cobham yet you fools , give him time , thats all we can do , just jumped with joy to see the citizens out:)
CFCTalal
You don't get it do you? Benitez has always shown contempt for our club, our fans, and our legendary manager. Now he's sucking russian dick to get a chance to manage our club. He's a feckin fat whore who only cares about publicity and the money. We let a great manager go, who cares about this club, to be replaced by this fat piece of *****.
k.chelski
agree weather we like him or not benitez is a pretty decent coach i am not happy about the treatment of rdm but what can you do if benitez brings sucess we will get over it so might as well just get behind rafa
superfreakyjay
Good article and points noted - Still not happy we have the fat waiter over RDM. Fat waiter is the oppisite in tactics to what Roman wants too. Surely RDM deserved more time given what he was able to do last season and the beginning of this season. I would have thought at least the Man City game at least.
BlueKiwi
Rafa is our manager now..that is the reality. What i think about it is irrelevant really. The bigger problem however is that his appointment is interim....that troublesome word again. What that means is that the board really did not want him either..we all know who they want. Rafa must really be desperate now to accept an interim position from anyone..We tried this with Capello after the AVB sacking and Capello told Roman of for even daring to think he would accept an interim position. An interim tag means what we have is a glorified "hired gun". The board has shown him no commitment and trust and you can be certain that will demonstrated in how affairs are handled in the January transfer window and how Rafa himself handles things. This is a marriage of convinience by both parties with both having ulterior motives. It is akin to those celebrity trophy weddings where both parties have lengthy pre nups signed- love is the last thing on the couples's minds in those unions. Anyone knows that there is big difference between the mindsets of a temp and a full time employee. The players will see and know this. Rafa accepted this because he hasnt had a job in ~ 2yrs now and is desperate to get back in the coaching world. Chelsea is a stepping stone for him to get the permanent job he seeks elsewhere. The board got him to mark time till they can get Pep in the summer. Questions to be asked; What happens come Summer when Pep decides to pick someone else? Will Rafa even last that long if the result go plummeting? What happens if we cannot secure a top 4 finish by seasons end? Who is plan C for us when Pep goes elsewhere and Rafa walks out on us at seasons end having secured a permanent deal elsewhere? There will certainly be no dull moment here at Chelsea FC for the rest of this season. The soap opera begins when we take on city this weekend.
GabeU
Bring out the best in Torres? What of the other players, We need a coach to bring out the best out of all our player. Torres can't win us anything alone
BluesArmy
This sacking is a disgrace. We aren't even out of the UCL yet.. We lost to United we all know how, Swansea tied at the 88th minute, we had infinite chances vs liverpool, and we played bad vs westbrom and juventus. Is that all we need to fire a manager? And to replace him with Rafa Benitez on top of it?? I would accept this if Guardiola or Mourinho took charge but not for Benitez for *****s sake...
Carloss86
"He bought top class players such as Xabi Alonso, Pepe Reina, Daniel Agger, Martin Skrtel, Javier Mascherano and Fernando Torres." That's 7 players in his how many reigns as Liverpool manager? Andrea Dossena, Robbie Keane, Riera, David N;Gog, Babel, Aquilani? Don't get me wrong, he signs world class players, but flops as well. I hope he is still interest in Stefan Jovetic as he was at Pool before he left before Torres will fail him. If you are also using the same Fernando Torres quotes as support for him, may I remind you about this from the same Torres and Gerrard: "Steven Gerrard, having produced a performance in an FA Cup final comparable to Stanley Matthews, joked that he still failed to get a 'well done' from Benitez. Fernando Torres wrote that a day after the birth of his first daughter he received belated congratulations from Benitez, only to realise the praise was for attacking the post at a corner rather than for his new fatherhood." For the Alonso he signed, see what Rafa said about him in public in this link: http://www.liverpool-kop.com/2009/07/alienation-of-xabi-alonso-by_14.html. ALSO See from the horses mouth why he left Liverpool: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/liverpool/8535368/Real-Madrid-midfielder-Xabi-Alonso-admits-he-left-Liverpool-after-feeling-unwanted-by-Rafael-Benitez.html

Drogba could be back on loan, yes!!!

RAFA THE TORRES WHISPERER LOL
ten men
How on earth should a manager be employ to help build the confidence of a fecking £50 million pound flop when we've got 10 other players on the pitch and some in the bench rafa and torres should feck off they are disgusting.
sunnymakcres
@DjDutts. There are several things u still ignore. How would Lads like JT,Lamps,Cech,Ashley react to Rafa? who they were totally disgusted with...Yes Nando will be excited but will the lads who are the core of the team be pleased as well.
nelyvanile
Sell Torres in January. Sack Benitez in December!!!
ddrogba
James Olley ‏@JamesOlley Wenger says RDM departure is "surprising and sad". Says its a surprise Benitez appointed until end of season & "surprised he accepted that." Echos GabeU's point.
KAKUfrank
Rafa is going to be sack before May. Count my words...
ddrogba
Hope he won't change the colour of our shirt to red!

I don't have much to say not my ideal choice but as a supporter I have to throw the support to any coach we bring in.

Torres is such an useless piece of *****e...
ddrogba
Only for Torres fan, and Im not for now. Things may change if he starts bang in the goals though. Haha
Gaban
BBC Sport ‏@BBCSport Chelsea are in talks about a deal that could see former striker Didier Drogba return to Stamford Bridge on loan #bbcfootball.......@nelyvanile - Add Drogba to those player list - Cole, Lamps, JT, Cech and Drogba. Drogba and Torres with Rafa. Imagine Rafa sticking to poor form Torres with Drogba on the bench. Jesus......
KAKUfrank
haha i can't wait to see torres play against city since his father has been appointed with those is sloppy body movement and being afraid to find himself in the 18 yard box.Rafa will fail likewise torres.
sunnymakcres
KAKUfrank - You'll find negatives and positives about EVERY coach on the planet. There is no perfect individual, and it is true that Benitez was solely doing PR when he said what he said about us, albeit not very smart in the long term. RDM has more attachments to Chelsea, true, but it's also true that he made many mistakes and did not quite achieve what could be expected. If we are honest, it was a miracle that we drew in two and won one of our final three CL games last season. Fact is that Barca and Bayern played much better and that in 19 out of 20 cases one of them would have achieved the better outcome. Our pre season this season was horrible, and we lost against City, Atletico, United, Juve, Donezk and WBA (6 defeats in a little more than 3 months is too many) in a way that was unacceptable. This team has a lot of potential and being almost out of the CL and third in the League does not meet the expectations that can be set. I do agree with the board's decision to part company with RDM and I do think that Benitez is, given his track record, a good interim choice.
ElMagicoNino
if we smack city by destroying them by 3 goals and torres gets a hatrick , I'm a dreamer
CFCTalal
@ElMagicoNino, not disputing that, see my article addressing that potential positives and negatives: http://www.chelsea.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=531871. In the interim, I hope he turns it around till summer. But I have my doubts as his capability as our long term manager.
KAKUfrank
If Mata, Oscar or Hazard start to look unhappy, this will be the biggest disaster in our modern history.
londonfc
@ ElMagicNino - same can be said with the losses to United, First Juve game, Liverpool and West Brom that we were so unlucky not to win all of these games, and a miracle in some that the other team got points out of it. Luck rides both ways mate. Last season we drew with Barca one game and won the other so your 19/20 case argument is defunct. Look at previous games with Barca and the terrible luck we have had with refs etc also. On balance RDM was doing well, 4 points off the pace in the league and only 2 weeks ago sitting at 1st.
BlueKiwi
You're going to some ridiculous lengths to ensure Torres fires. Stealing the shankley gates (or whatever it was you stole from anfield), stealing liverpools chant for him, building a team around him, playing a style football that provides him with plenty of service, hiring his old manager. Next it will be playing Europa league football ;) if that doesn't work what will be next? Wearing a red strip?Relocating near Liverpool? Changing your crest to something similar to Liverpools? Signing Gerrard? What I do know is your ruthless streak with managers is making you a laughing stock. Abramovic is deluded if he thinks he can buy a Barcelona style of football and philosophy. The look on his face when he fires Pep (it's an inevitability), assuming he gets him in the first place, and still can't work out why his Chelsea can't emulate Barca and play beautiful football will be priceless. Patience and stability brings long term success, then again you can't expect a man who stole his fortune from his own country to understand that.
TheFamousNo7
That's a bit ridiculous to think we recruited Benitez to get Torres firing. That's an embarrassing thought.
KAKUfrank
Nice article@djdutt,We all have the tangible reasons to feel the way we feel about the condition of our darlin chelsea but the board have made a decision,we have to accept it and hope for the best,RDM would always have a place in our hearts but he is gone now lets get behind benitez and give him all the support he needs to succeed with us..
Ken4CFC
Idiotic article, why was rdm never going to get you there? Because he's lost 3 games all season with a new squad and one very ***** striker? How do you know this? Another double winning coach sacked for no reason.
spurticus87
Ps united have lost 1 more game, I wonder if they will sack fergie?
spurticus87
Tubbs was appointed on Torres' say so. Would the editors kindly remove all these unpleasant photos of the man...they're making me sick already. Ta.

This particular pics just made me rage...
nelyvanile
What a stupid decision again by our useless board. Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti and now Roberto Di Matteo.
Drog of War
This article should have been written by Mq. He is a Rafa apologist. The only good news about this whole debacle is that from now on, I ll watch chelsea games just like a neutral. I hv lost the passion for this club.
Dwonder
mq must be havin a laugh right now at last roman sees things from his point of view...comon mates dont lose your passion for chelsea because of one man..we support chelsea not individuals,therefore every chelsea official should enjoy our support includin the manager,lets hope we got this one right..KTBFFH
Ken4CFC
of course he isnt the right choice but i truly truly hope that i am wrong. There is nothin more chelsea fans would love than sucess whtether it is with rafa or otherwise. I donot believe in him now and it would take a lot for me to belive in him. However i do believe in Chelsea and that we can get someone better in the summer.
ktm_blues
yes... good one DJDUTTS.... I need more positives...... I'm still in shock...... why oh why Rafa ? :(........ wish my Chels all the best :(
The Persian
He is a fill gap, pure and simple. Will be gone in the summer. DiMatteo was never here for long anyway. He would have been let go this summer if Guardiola had agreed to the ludicrous 15M a year he will receive. The owner is a complete and utter idiot. 80M for two of the most useless players ever to don the Chelsea shirt, who must play per Owner's mandate or the coach is fodder. Falcao will be bought in January or the summer after lighting Chelsea up - this is how the Owner makes his personnel decisions. I hope he is worth it.
Drogstark
why should we care what he said............. honestly???.... a new banner for the Matthew Harding end then? Sad day
parker26
Although I am disappointed with sacking of RDM, I feel it is relatively normal for CFC, and I will back Rafa completely to succeed. All I can add to this is, Thank you Roberto Di Mateo, you have been a great manager for CFC, and one who delivered a trophy "bigger" managers in their time couldn't. Thank you and good luck in your future management or whatever you decide to do. And now, gogogogogo Rafa !
zg2000fs
Rafa is a good tactictian who brought Liverpool to the Champions League and second placing. He could bring the best out of Torres and we should be looking forward for the World Club Championship in Tokyo as the privelleges to play there only given to the winner of Champions League. We need to take this chances and we could only do it with the current set of players and including Torres. To me, this would be a logical move and hope for the best....
DrWatsons
Oh this is just clutching at straws. You know as well as anyone else this is so not going to end well, Rom's a top bloke but looks like he finally lost his marbles. As for transfers, for the first time I'm deeply thankful that it's the board that brings players in with the manager's role hardly extending beyond a recommendation.
Carefree_1990
We could've been challenging for actual honors this season, and now our chances of a top 4 finish have been cast into doubt. Freaking A!
Carefree_1990
Torres is finished. Is that so hard to see? Benitez, Mourinho, God, noone can get him scoring again, he's down the crapper, period. RDM recommended Falcao in the summer, and was told he had a 'top class finisher' already, says the Dailymail. I blame RDM, he should never have played lackey to these looney-tunes. He should never have taken this job.
Carefree_1990
Give Benitez a chance the man hasn't even set foot at Cobham yet, I agree it's a bit of a knee jerk reaction, but look at the facts, RDM is an absolute club legend, but this season he has failed to win any of the key matches.. Charity Shield, Euro Super cup, Man Utd, Shaktar away, Juve away, and in most of these games we were made to look stupid. We were clearly not getting the best out of the team and had absolutely no defensive solidarity... Which is alarming, to concede 20 goals in 10 games is not good enough, to not beat the likes of Swansea, West Brom or QPR shows we are in no better position, yes they are good teams but ones we should be beating comfortably. We are dropping points all over the place and things needed to change, yes RDM will forever hold a special place in our hearts for winning the big one, but this season has been diabolical.
Splint1976
We better pray that his tactics are spot-on, because if it's not, Rafa doesn't have the flexibility to change. He will advocate bringing in new faces to suit his strategy, but the simpler strategy to tweak his current strategy to accommodate the talent he's been provided with passes him by. Fat feck.
Carefree_1990
agree with you, he will bring a new style...he knows Torres very well..and if he field 4-4-2 ..he can since we have wingers..the only problem we dont have Gerrard type player who can deliver to torres ..lampard is out for now...lets wait and see.

Get behind the manager for feck's sake.You can't do anything.If you want to create more trouble and havoc,then proteest outside the Bridge,which will affect our performances.So please for feck's sake,ge behind him.What he said about us in the past is a part and parcel of football.So,please behave like adults.Rafa is a good manager,whether people like it or not.I can hardly remember any manager in the last decade winning at the Nou Camp as well as the Bernabeu.

No matter what anyone says, Its a BIG FAT TO THE "FAT SPANISH WAITER".
shaf86
As far as 'temporary' managers go, there is nobody who will be temporarily better than Benitez.
djdutts
Laurent Blanc could be temporarily better. I am sure people thought they were coaches temporarily better than RDM, but RDM won a UCL and FA Cup.
KAKUfrank
I also don't think you can tell the fans what to do. This move is completely out of touch with the fans and they have the right not to get behind or get behind Rafa. For some fans, it is Rafa, for some it is another. If Wenger is ever hired at Chelsea, I WILL NEVER EVER SUPPORT OR BACK HIM.
KAKUfrank
Hopefully Oscar could deliver those killing passes like Gerard did for Torres. We need to revive him for getting a chance to shine in the World club championship... Give Rafa a chance...
DrWatsons
am praying hard now for him to fail miserably and get the sack asap.
valachi
i always respected roman decesion...but this time he has completly lost it....it would be a foolish decesion to appoint rafa for what so that he can help him start his 50 million toy....which is completly useless and should be thrown in the garbage....for the sake of one player roman is fecking the whole squad....if pep was not available now then why sack rdm and bring on another liverpool reject....he is turning chelsea into chelseapool with the appointment of rafa.....hope our supporter boo both of them at the stadium...
shlok27
Roman and the board are simply ruining my dear club!...That excitement of going to watch chelsea play, has bn assasinated by Rafa's appointment.
Krested Kal-el
just can't wait for that false striker to be sold.the whole media is calling us a circus and we know where that comes from
blueskywalker
Torres/Benitez two sides of the same washer ~ This time Roman you have fahrked up big time. grant/scolari/AVB/Ancelotti and even losing RDM I can understand, but to cow tow to the little maggot boy Torres and appoint Beneathus, this is just plain wrong on so many levels. I pray the bridge boos and hisses at the sight of the pair.
Pantisocrates
Looks like Roman will never stop playing Manager Mode in real life.LOL.This is getting funny now.When will Benitez be sacked now?
cfc250
Here in lies my gripes and discontent with his antecedents, with benitez, his league perfromance save for his 2nd place in the league once is detestable, the only good thing about this man is that when it comes to UCL he knows his stuff. His transfer policy is way below average........riera,degen,dossena,babel,poulsen,ngog,diouf,aquilani,el zhar,voronin etc, those are the players rafa bought!!! With untold millions and they are such a waste! We are in for a stormy transfer come january, I am sure.
Desmondadonis
Get behind the team and stop predictin doom,rafa is here for the short term..if rafa fails,chelsea fails so lets give him all the support he needs to succeed
Ken4CFC
May be rafa is a good choice but the underlying theme here is RA and the board back stabbed and tied RDM's hand and send him to a gun fight with providing a knife..RDM clearly asked for a good striker to be signed first and foremost in the summer after departure of dd.It increasingly looks like the board and RA wanted RDM to FAIL..That way they can shift the blame on him not good enough..My only hope in all this is it doesnt blow up in the face of cfc.
LifeIsWonderful
Desmond.Every managers has a bunch of players who succeed and fail.I can give you examples if you want.
cfc250
i'm not fussed about rafa te gaffa coming i as it is onl temp till the sumer, so for the club it is a win/win situation really. if he hits the grund running he can win the club world championships(which he is currently) maybe win the capital one cup(only arsenal really to beat) could finish in the top for champions league qualification next seaon, and you never know he might,just might get el nino to start playing for chelsea like we all want him to! ifthis happens then the club look like they did a great job hiring him and everyone is happy. if he messe up and wins sod all but scrapes us through the rst of the season then at least at he end of the season he can be releaed and we dont have to pay out a huge amountin contract fee's yet again and roman can go his pet love pep guardiola.

Bluesa101
Well said DJDUTTS. Chelsea fans need to get behind him or you're no better than the players and owner who have undermined previous appointments.
The Bagman
In the time Abramovich has been at Chelsea, the club have had eight managers. Manchester United, obviously, have had one. And in that time United, the most convincing argument for patience and loyalty there has been in English football, have won nine trophies (one Champions League, four Premier League, three League Cup, one FA Cup). But Chelsea have won 10 (one Champions League, three Premier League, four FA Cup, two League Cup). So random has accrued more than continuity. Indeed, in United’s single Champions League win, they played Chelsea, who lost on a penalty shoot-out having been marginally the better side. So, a method in the madness?? HELL YES :)
@Mq
LifeIsWonderful, yes that is the thing. Our club (owner and board) back stabbed Robbie. They never wanted Robbie in charge. Roman's fantasy lies with Pep. It will be a sight to see Roman's face once he hires Pep in a 15 million a year deal and Pep fails. By that time Mourinho would have gone to another PL club for long term. I don't see any positives from the way our board and owner handle the football matters.
Keyser Soze
I wouldn't say it's ridiculous kakufrank that the reason above all else as to why Benitez was hired was to get Torres firing again. He's the only manager who has ever even got Torres to fire at all, what else has he got going for him? Par an early stint in his managerial career his résumé is awful, he destroys morale, chops and changes his squad like something out of fifa and stands there cluelessly talking about 'facts' and jotting down notes onto a piece of paper. I not saying its the sole reason as to why Benitez got the post but I certainly believe it played a massive part in it for him, even moreso considering how the fans feel about him. To get hired over Redknapp, Blanc and the numerous other better managers out there is peculiar no? If you wanted top four and attractive football Redknapp despite his deficiencies in the squad rotation and tactical department would've given you that. If you want to scrap for top four and play a measured, calculated game you hire Benitez.
TheFamousNo7
@Keyser Soze The way we are treating our own past player and a legend like RDM will tell more than enough for Pep to stay away from the mad russian's plaything that is CFC.Pep is a idiot to the core to take the job of cfc even if RA offer him 20M a season and severance pay of 50M.No manager who has some diginity wont accept the job after this..Only guys we can go for now is the ones who wants money nothing else or guys like Rafa who is out of work and want to get back in the game..Gone are the days respect flowed even we are good cup team and even opp fans showed respect for what Chelsea is what a club it stands for..Now like lot of opp fans taunts us WE ARE THE PLAY THING OF A MAD RUSSIAN FAN. Nothing else. The classless way we sacked RDM lost all the respect CFC has won over neutrals this season..CLASSLESS..Sacking carlo in the corridor sacking RDM even before he knows in 3.00am before his flight from turin come to london..God what become of my beloved club..
BlueAndWhiteArmy
Yeah lets give the man a chance....New Chant at tha Bridge: "I'm Fat, I'm Mean, I'm Dope, I'm...Rafa....just kidding. I hated the man because he was my enemy, now he is here and he is no longer an enemy and really, apart from Mourinho, has Roman ever steered us wrong, on the balance, his trigger happy demeanor has ensured that we have a bulging trophy cabinet. I wish RDM well as he is my hero and a CFC legend. We have to move on, we are CFC...there will be no lack of passion for CFC in the following matches. I really hope Rafa wins EVERYTHING so it will be impossible for Pep's shadow to darken the shadows in the Stamford Bridge tunnel. Rafa is our man now...and I hope he does well. All old grudges are gone and I will support him as much as any other manager...because his job is to make me happy and make CFC win, and I know we will win the league, the Capitol Cup and god willing the UCL...Willian, if ever there was a game where you needed to show us why we need to buy you, it is against Juve.

One scary thought crept into my mind: What if Rafa wins the Capital One Cup and/or Premier League title and/or FA Cup and/or Club World Cup for us this season? Would that mean a contract extension?
Blue Day
RDM's mistake was to take this job (It was clear he was never wanted), but his love for CFC is what prompted him to do so...look the players who are problematic are Torres (inability to score, but generally decent but not worth 50 mill pound play) and Luiz (erratic defending) but everthing else is in place and Rafa has experience and will have had a lot of time to reflect on how big a douche he was and change his ways...I think he will be good here. Much better than Pep who knows only Barca...heck Rafa beat Barca with Valencia to the La Liga...I rate that better than all of Pep's achievements coz Villanova is looking to replicate Pep's success as we speak. If Pep comes though, I will support him too...it is what being a fan is all about...support who is in your team currently. I know that privately I wish that Mourinho was never fired...we'd be BEASTS now, but it happened and he is not coming back...I've moved on. But there are those bottom dwellers out there who are delighting in the demise of RDM, calling him names, he does not deserve that guys, not a player legend, nor a coaching legend at CFC....
Gian-Franco/Luca
Gutted for Robbie however Rafa is here and has my full support; if for nothing else he is our coach and I will always respect that title if not the man.

Sorry MQ. Stop punting Martin Samuel's Idea like yours. Being selective as usual. Martin Samuel also wrote this in the same article: "Abramovich’s success as an owner is just further evidence of the overwhelming influence of money: throw enough cash at a problem in football and however crass the executive behaviour, chances are results will come your way eventually. Abramovich’s actions defy convention and therefore conventional analysis. These constant rounds of hirings and firings shouldn’t work. Often they don’t. But given Chelsea’s level of investment, sometimes they will." - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2236623/Roberto-Di-Matteo-latest-victim-Roman-Abramovichs-random-Chelsea-reign-Martin-Samuel.html

@Blue Day, if Rafa really win those especially PL and Club World Championship by getting the best out of Torres and the team, he deserved to stay. But we need to assess if he deploy those defensive tactics or playing with the strengths that Chelsea currently have. He is a good tactictian to me and we hope he could deployed different tactics with different sets of player to confuse our opponnets. RDM is too predictable and SAF came to SB knowing what to do to stop Chelsea and he did it... All other teams just follow suit and they managed to get points from us...
DrWatsons
Lol @Mq....I think most Chelsea fans are fickle... Rafa will win against city and he'll be hailed a hero on this site!! Its plain to see why RDM was sacked.. He lost every important game and against Atletico, Shaktar and Juve it was embarrassing to watch... Will always be a legend but Roman has made the right decision at the right time... Rafa will do well in the interim..I'm not sure Pep is the long term answer though!
Splint1976

I really can't wait for sunday, let's be clear on what rafa would bring, since he has 3 days to train with an already talented squad which is already oozing with quality, a fixture like city will tell me if this toady guy is worth my respect and we'll see what he'll bring to the table and how he'll keep carlos tevez at bay.

Did anyone read Pat Nevin's column yet...Well you will know that fans have the right to feel disgusted because they don't have short memories like many new breeds of Chelsea fans. This is reality and not some Fifa Manager...peoples emotions are involved,certain players grow attached to certain managers,and it becomes more of a job to some rather than playing their hearts. Youth development stalls,for another season...Rafa is interim,so he will get the boot...Another Manager comes in and youth development stalls for another season. You can argue that the sacking of managers has given us trophies,but in true sense,its a quick fix...We keep going through the same thing every season,that should give u some common sense that its not entirely the right thing to do. What is Chelsea's Identity?

You sack a manager so one works hard and brings you a trophy for that present season to try and make a case for himself...that sounds great at present we win trophies and everybody is happy. So what's the future? What does the future hold for our young talent,who don't have the same emotional strength to deal with managerial changes like the JT's,Cech,Ashley,Lamps,Mikel...and co who are used to seeing such. How do the young lads grow some certain amount of attachment to the club,when the managerial ins and outs makes it more of a job for them...To top it off and add insult to injury,My brother who is a leeds fans,sent me a text to wake me up(more of mockery)...Saying...'Oi...you are probably out of pints by now,ur owner decides to replace a Club Legend with a scouser reject...Take Skrtel to solve your defensive issues as well' how pathetic...was hoping ill be calm by this morning but it still doesn't sink in.

I agree 100% SPLINT but 1 thing I can be sure of, personal feelings aside, Rafa is an upgrade on RDM because of what he's done with 'lesser' talent. He made the fools almost a force to be reckoned with, reached the Champs League final twice while playing WAY BETTER football than what we saw last season. Rafa was the most notable reason Mourinho never won the Champs League with Chelsea, and you look what he did with Valencia on lesser financial clout. Hell I even read somewhere (I'll get the link shortly) that he was the proponent of 4-2-3-1 in the EPL....A misunderstood genius :)

@Mq
Accusations of failure at Liverpool are a falsehood worth dispelling with alacrity. Without the Reds ever matching the financial power of Europe’s biggest clubs during his five-year spell on Merseyside, Benitez led them to two Champions League finals - winning one - and mounted Liverpool’s closest challenge for the Premier League title in history. These inarguable truths, or "facts" as the Madrid-born boss knows them, cannot be tempered with caveats; they sit proudly on Benitez’s CV alongside two La Liga titles won with Valencia - another team who overcame their rivals with greater financial might. So much of his teams' ability to punch above their weight came from his innovative methods, the aforementioned tactics are now commonplace in the Premier League but they were widely used as a stick with which to beat Benitez at the time. And it was not just the first team who were exposed to his revolutionary approach. Liverpool’s academy has rightly attracted praise this season due to the success of its graduates to the starting XI, but the foundations for that influx were laid solely by Benitez. The unpopular decision to axe Steve Heighway and his staff for their failure to provide a follow-up act to Steven Gerrard was heavily criticised, and yet only now the dividends are being reaped. "But what about his awful transfer record," the doubters often chime in once other outright lies have been exposed, and yet that is another aspect which stands up favourably to the test of time. Daniel Agger, Martin Skrtel, Glen Johnson, Lucas Leiva, Pepe Reina, Raheem Sterling and Suso all go immediately into Brendan Rodgers' team when fit even now, and all were Benitez buys. Fernando Torres, Xabi Alonso, Javier Mascherano and Xabi Alonso represent further purchases who would go straight back into the XI had they not left whilst the likes of Dirk Kuyt, Maxi Rodriguez, Peter Crouch, Momo Sissoko and Craig Bellamy were shrewd buys whose contributions cannot be understated.....................Read More: http://www.goal.com/en-sg/news/3877/england/2012/11/22/3546978/chelsea-fans-dont-deserve-misunderstood-genius-benitez

Need I remind u the 4-2-3-1 was ***** at inter.

One Positive i cherished now is that David Luiz is no more a starter. You think Rafa is dumb,huh??

Because he took over the same 11 his nemesis managed NELY would you have played whole-heartedly for Benitez knowing Mourinho hated him, especially When you had Mourinho on speed dial??
@Mq
I thought we all "loved" the 4-2-3-1 or has that changed because Rafa basically brought it to the EPL?? *smh* at fickleness
@Mq
why Torres? why always about this guy seriously? this is chelsea fc for crying out loud not torres fc, i'm still gobsmacked by this decision, it's a completely joke decision by the board, but can't do anything really so i will support him
chelsea44
@11bandwagon. Ill hold you to your words about David Luiz being a starter.
nelyvanile
Torres was not the main reason he was appointed,was largely based on the gaffers experience,torres is going to be booted if Rafa senses hes gonna cost him his job like he did with RDM, AVB and Carlo(Ramires was also instrumental in Carlos demise,he keep playing him knowing he's not in form, anybody remeber the mancity game?) i now feel sorry for David Luiz the destroyer, Rafa is going for skrtel in January. Those January 2011aquisitions(Torres and Luiz) have been ****ing us hard till now.
11bandwagon
Some fans started watching chelsea from 2008, it shows in most comments, how can such know club ethics? Its history or the history of our rivals and the bad blood between? So we'll just hope the younger fans won't be mislead and be fickle or hypocritical in future. Chelsea identity matters, our youths and loanees will surely suffer if they are not properly managed, and oh who do u think rafa's no.2 will be?
Desmondadonis
Another thing am SURE is that Rafa would go through all our games so far this season including the supercup so that it will enlighten him clearly of what he is working with,am very sure of that.he works hard and likes to innovates tactics that hungs in pari passu with his team strengths. He was the one that started using 3 at the back against tough opposition and always comes out with good results.

I'm also pretty sure we won't complain about predictability 11BAND and we will see what a true, widely acknowledged tactician does. I'm also sure the players will respond better knowing the Manager has ball$ and can change earlier than the 79th minute. Pretty sure we'll also see the right players in their right positions (RB @ RW, LB @ LW will be done away with thank goodness) and funny that whenever a Manager comes "against the desire of majority of fans" he succeeds. Remember Mourinho coming when Ranieri was sacked?? May not have been the same level of hostility but the pain and anguish was there. I just wonder what the articles and comments from Rafa's doubters will be if and when he starts winning without sacrificing good football, will they disappear or come in new monikers as we've seen in the past?? I wonder....

What I cannot understand why is Torres Roman's top adviser? The press go on about Terry running Chelsea, or Lampard, or previously Drogba running Chelsea. Maybe they did, maybe they didn't, but at least these guys had achieved something at Chelsea. They had, it could be argued, earned the right to at least be listened to. Torres has achieved absolutely nothing at Chelsea and has in fact destroyed a top 2 team and turned them into also rans. Yet this players seems to believe he has the right to be angry at RDM for substituting him against Liverpool & WBA, games in which he contributed NOTHING. Chelsea have been playing with 10 men these past 2 months the fact we are still 3rd is a miracle. He shouldn't have been sent off against Man Utd as he was fouled but it is also true he always chooses the easy option. It's easier to go down than fight to get a shot away. It's easier to stray offside than have to worry about a shot at goal. It's easier to try to beat 4 players, and always eventually lose the ball, than shoot. I think he has only scored ONE winning goal since he joined us - Reading? - and that was offside. When Chelsea signed Torres it was supposed to be the end of Drogba. Basically Drogba was kicked out the team to make way for him. Did Drogba sit on the bench and spit the dummy? No. Despite being 34 years old and having a very average season in the league, Drogba saved himself for the Cups and scored in the must win group game against Valencia, scored in the must win game against Napoli, scored in the must win game against Barcelona, scored in the must win game against Spurs, scored in the must win game against Liverpool and scored in the must win game against Bayern Munich and finally scored the 5th penalty in the must win game against Bayern Munich. And as a thank you for all that Chelsea felt he could not stay on as an impact player because he was crushing Torres's spirit. Torres has seen off Hodgson (at Liverpool), Carlo, AVB (thank god!), RDM and now he's got the manager he campaigned for. How can a £50m striker only play for one manager? Our defense, especially without Terry and with Luiz, is shaky, our midfielders don't do enough to help the defense but all that could be over come if we had a striker who could actually score regularly. Draws against Liverpool & Swansea would be victories. Defeat to WBA would be a draw. We may not win the league but at least we would be up there challenging until the end. We have kicked out everyone who was "hindering" Torres and now what are we left with? Like him or loath him but I cannot see RB giving Torres much more than a few weeks before he realizes Torres is done. The worst case scenario is Torres scores 3 or 4 goals over the next few weeks, everyone thinks the problem is solved, we don't sign a replacement in January and then Torres slumps again.
CobhamBlue
too many things that RDM got wrong although i dont wanna see him sacked so soon,neither am i his advocate,i will never support fully a manager that was stubborn to the core of playing Ramires on the wings untill Roman questions the folly, Bertrand on the wings ohh my God even Azpi.whereas you were provided with adequate provisions necessary and he is busy CONVERTING RAMMY,BERTRAND AND CESAR !!!. No sane manager would do that.
11bandwagon
is like RDM wanted the sack ! AVB will be salivating with our current squad,he would do better if he forgets his incessant media rants and team disbowelling.
11bandwagon
Cobhamblue that's one hell of a thought, why didn't RA sign rafa for the 2 years he gave to RDM in the summer? Some fans pointed out that RDM won't get the job as Roman aint a sentimental owner, why he wasn't given the job is a suprise, if u think mourinho hoofed the ball then u are in for a rude awakening as the master of hoof the ball tactics were pool under this man, for those that have been watching the EPL before the decline of pool will remember.
Desmondadonis
@Desmond you are wrong to say that Rafa hoofs the ball ferociously like in Mourinho days, ball hoofing is one of mourinhos tactical game plan ! Remeber the fa cup game against tottenham,we were trailing 3 - 1 and Kalou scored two goals to tie it and setup an eye watering replay @ stamfor bridge which we emphaticallly beat the 2 - 0. Kalous equalizers was as a result of ball hoofing,you can youtube it. Rafa like telling his players to switch long balls across the wings which Xabi alonso was central to,i believe switching longballs to the wings when the other was conjested would help us a lot as we have talented players that can take people one on one like Kalou does.
11bandwagon
Rafa was desperate to get on to a coaching role. Chelsea wanted someone who can bring out something from Torres. Chelsea cannot afford to buy another 50m Falcao and sell Torres for peanuts. This is a marriage made of convenience. I really hope that Rafa gets the best of this chelsea squad and ensure we finish in Top 3 and atleast 2 tropies.
Blu_run
11bandwagon, if u have noticed my input, being bias is not my thing, I'll say it as I see it, its true that rafa uses the wing, dirk kuyt and riera were his wingers at a time, but he hoofs the ball, not the pattern we are playing under rdm which everybody applauded, my point is if he brings the hoof the ball pattern to chelsea, then he have undone what AVB and RDM sweated for and that is good passing football, as I said earlier I am not going to rage at his appointment anymore till he wins us over with good footie and nice wins, so I am just stating what I recollect from his time at pool, though I'll add that his pool side were one of the fittest and had the fiercest in front of goal
Desmondadonis
LoL @ those who still think/ believe AVB was a bad Manager, let's see which club will take RDM now?? and I thought AVB would be sacked first (according to some) well how did that turn out?? AVB with this squad would have done better than what RDM has done and I'm pretty sure Roman knew this hence sacking him immediately yet trying to bid his time with AVB.
@Mq
Come to think of it, the players we bought were the kind AVB wanted, perhaps he left the dossier behind and Roman went about the business of getting the players. can you imagine AVB saying we buy Moses?? LoL @ those "experts" who said Moses was a "steal" because you were right, a steal for Wigan on Chelsea's money. Same goes for Marin, what "Messi" have you seen cheaper than Lukaku (half the price)....why did RDM undermine Sturridge (our highest scoring forward last season)?? Boy am I glad we saved ourselves the humiliation of sinking under a man with no idea how to set-up a Championship winning team
@Mq
if Rafa played "hoof ball" why did Torr-Mented1 score that many goals, from "holding up play" (ala Drogba) or from through passes (which is hardly hoof ball) ?? *smh*
@Mq
The fiercest shots on target in front goal* so as I said, its fingers crossed till he wins us over or gets fired. And he shouldn't be allowed to buy players in january, emenalo should do that with the board, it will be madness if he sells mata and get ambrosini or something similar
Desmondadonis
failing to plan is planning to fail. Warped planning is tantamount to planning to fail, who the hell decided to "sacrifice" attacking options in a team that already has 6 defensive players?? Rafa is a better gamble because come the next game (if we qualified) when we'd face even stiffer competition we'd be talking "sacrificing" even more attacking options till we ended up with 2 forwards and the rest on the bench. Roman would see this coming and acted swiftly, didn't wait till the "79th minute" to make changes, made em early when he saw the team lose control of the game (1st quarter of the game) and that's what I call being a winner, knowing when and how quickly to cut your losses :)
@Mq
Its so hard u @mq is difficult to ignore, so through balls can only be played from the ground? How many games did u watch when rafa was pool's manager, yea, u'll run to daily mail and bring riddiculous stories, so now moses is a bad player right? Many will attest to the fact that u advocated for him to be played, as far as cfc is concerned moses is earning his price tag and salary with the amount of game played so far. Hulk haven't played as a player that is worth 5m so far. So know ur limits lad.

I for one like many am sure that this decision is not a popular one. But, having said that I could never bring myself to say that , " I hope he fails " !!!! What sort of Chelsea fan would make a comment like that. The decision has been made , now let's get behind the manager and the team. You will probably slaughter me for saying this, but it is just my opinion. KTBFFH.

Just absolutely annoying...We scent of scousers right now.
nelyvanile
@mq marin was nearing the end of his contract at bremen.becoz of that his market price went down to 7 which originally was near 20.rdm was forced to play torres as striker so he couldn't give that spot to sturridge.that leaves the attacking midfielders.could sturridge really take the starting spot from hazard/oscar/mata?
blueskywalker
I believe Mq makes some valid points guys. At the very least we have a very experienced manager for the rest of the season. The only problem we have here is Roman appointing RDM when he didnt really want him. He should have gone with his instincts and said thank you to him for winning the CL and cutting him looose at the end of the season. Remember Avram almost won the CL for us too - does that make him a great manager? I will be supporting Rafa and hope for the best. Roman has been good for us so lets support him!
eddy_theeel
@zolander, a rational true chelsea fan will never hope his team fails so he could prove a point, its plastics that does that, nelyvanile, don't u know zenden? I thought he played for us once didn't he? If he is a fifa licensed coach, then it will be good for us to have a dutch and spanish mix.
Desmondadonis

the whole thing is a bit of a fiasco i have been supporting the club for years and im never going to stop whoever the manager is but all i crave for is a bit of stability we need to appoint a long term manager someone who can build teams and become mr chelsea like old red nose did with the mancs
herefordchelsea
so why not play 4-1-4-1, 4-3-2 or something that increases his goal scoring options as he saw Torr-Mented1 was flopping BLUESKY why persist with the same formation when the man ain't scoring?? Doesn't look like genius to me, its actually insanity according to Einstein. There's always another way, you either have to find it or make 1 yourself lad, and unfortunately RDM didn't have that ability hence his sacking. And wtf was Newton doing, never heard or saw him in action, I only recall him giving his first interview
@Mq
Breaking news: Zenden appointed as rafa's assistanct
josevis
Yes he played for us for 3 years...I know him...just highlighting the ties to the scousers...@des
nelyvanile
How many Liverpool games did you watch yourself DESMOND?? I'm speaking from #1 the games we played against them, and #2 that Torr-Mented1 doesn't have the build nor ability to suit a hoofball team. As for Moses I did attest for him to be played, but you will recall I used to include "for lack of better options" initially and beside, why did we buy him then if we not going to play him int position we need to be played?? Hulk hasn't played like a 5mil player you say, how many goals has he scored compared to games played?? KAKU only gave th league stats, where's the totals?? And if I checked right, his team are through to the last 16 and we aren't, so what's your point there??...Calling me an attention seeker is tantamount to rhetoric, which you always resort to when you have nothing worthwhile to say. Go hide as you did when I got proven right by Roman's decision to sack an evident failure
@Mq
Just highlighting that he played under Benitez at the scousers and has strong ties with the scousers...had bust up with lamps during the playing days a few times.
nelyvanile
If u are not blind, u'll notice I was posting as usual without hiding away as u said dumbo, as for ur hulk comment, how did hulk qualify his club? Kaku tore ur wikipedia fact find to shred for all to see, so I won't bother with small fries like u, u are the one that doesn't acknowledge that ur football knowledge is limited to the dailymail and wikipedia, so why bother with u huh? Sorry that roman thought of hulk as a thrash buy, nor ur luca moura, so stop moaning about players that are not playing for chelsea and concentrate on a kid that is delivering when called upon, this kid goal alone is the only reason chelsea have a glimmer of hope to qualify for the round of 16

In regards to youth Steve Holland will hopefully provide that continuity of assimilating youth into our first team. If you look at it under RDM only Piazon managed a debut in the first team the only manager to really give youth a chance was Carlo Ancelotti.
Anarchy
Hope you read it and also face Terry
chuks09
I believe RDM scripted his own sacking...nothing else...I dont hate Rafa...he is a good tactician, sets his team well, change his players if something is not working...I hope his appointment will boost torres automatically, we can see him putting little more efforts to shoot in the goal (atleast to impress him..otherwise, he is going to get benched). But surely the sacking of RDM was a good one by Roman and I believe that the appointment of Rafa will also be good
Blu_run
Don't believe everything u see in the media, try to double check from other sites. http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/hulk/profil/spieler_80562.html

You lot are a crazy bunch of retards! I'm no fan of Rafa but still waiting for the day when he succeeds so that more than 90% idiots (Who are dumb enough to consider themselves having more knowledge than Jose Mourinho) will shut up. Stick it up your arses losers!
Pep.Guardiola
I think RDM sack is a good decision taken at the right time. Rafa is the best option we had now (I doubt Blanc, others) would have accepted the short term deal till summer. Pep is the Roman's choice. It is clear. Rafa's main objective will be keep the Top 3 position. Win 1 or 2 tropies (If possible). Improve Torres. He will be assesed based on these points only.
Blu_run
@Mq...why you always try to degrade players to prove your point. It is nonsense....Moses is still a good buy for us (young, skilful both technically & physically, and more importantly a home-grown)....Marin (yet to play a PL match. maybe RDM doesnt like him, but you criticize him for his low transfer fee). You can question the RDMs tactics, but not these players when they are barely used.
Blu_run
Step 2) Benitez get's the team disciplined and focused in defence. He works on getting the players back into their natural positions. No RB at RW and certainly no AM at CF. He drills the team into playing the 4-2-3-1 system with proper pivoting players (chance for Romeu maybe?) with proper wingbacks providing midfield width. Cole loves that role and so will bertrand. Aspi seems to suit on the right too. In the AM area he gives Hazard, Mata and Oscar/Moses freedom to move and to play a quick-tempo style, but it is their job to close down any first wave of attacks, and if they can't steal the ball then they need to fall back to the halfway line and form a barrier to the opposition midfield coming forward. Note that this is EXACTLY what Pep would do with these players! Finally Torres/Sturridge will be expected to play on the should of the last defender and to get shifting as soon as MAZACAR get the ball and begin the attack. Quick counters and shoot on sight. The back stays compact until the break when we move with pace on the width and skills in the middle
Bizarre_Blue
Posted on another thread: Simple.... Step 1) Benitez gives his first press conference.... "Before I begin I just want to say I am very sorry for anything insulting I once said against the Chelsea fans. In my time at Liverpool you were the competition and I said and did things to motivate the Liverpool fans and players. Now I am here at Chelsea and I want to make sure the team and results are something for the fans to be proud of. I want this team to perform at the highest levels like we all know they can. My aim here is to make sure the team is focused on winning and to turn around the recent run of bad form. I do not ask for patience or time from the fans, only that they continue to support their players and this club through the transition that is to come from now to the end of the season". Would this fix his wrongs? NO. Would it go some way to building a little bit of a bridge with teh fans? YES. At least then it would show he's acknowledging that the fans don't like him, but he's going to do his best for us during his time at the club
Bizarre_Blue
Step 3) If someone isn't capable of playing in their natural position then it's time for them to pack a bag. Sorry but this is not a manager who will take it softly on a fan favourite player. If someone doesn't cut it in their natural position then why are they in the team??? I'm a big fan of managers who put people into their natural positions (assuming they are good enough to play there!), and at this club we have some of the best talent in the world in their natural positions. We spend too much time pu$$y-footing around players who want to play where they aren't good enough (Sturridge!). I see this next few months as being a huge reality check which will make or break this club. Personally I don't like Benitez. I despise the man for his comments about this club; but I will not turn my back and criticise him for something he hasn't yet done. He will get my backing until he screws up. Otherwise from me it's welcome aboard Rafa.... You have a lot of work to do and A LOT of things to prove here!
Bizarre_Blue
Chelsea are trying too hard to make this man acceptable to the fans, if this guy is any good, then he'll win us over effortlessly by his brand of football and sucess, why is everybody trying to be rafa benitez apologist? The club buttered him up in his fact profile without highlighting his negatives, he was trailing milan 3-0 from the 1st half and thru his tactical stuff and a bit of luck, he won it, the club clarified that, in 2007 when he was outplayed for the entire 90minutes, nobody mentioned how boring that final was, everyone keep buttering him up and are saying he won't cut it say let's wait and see what he has to offer before we talk, he is very good on his day and can be as cold and bad as he wants too, let's see what he'll bring to chelsea, one thing his clear with his first interview, he has good PR people working for him.
Desmondadonis
Press conference rather* sunday please come quick, let's see how it will be. If we win, we might move 2nd on the log, if we lose, we might be out of top 4 soon.
Desmondadonis
'Chelsea are trying too hard to make him popular'. WTF?? When did such a thing happen??? Club knows that these moronic bunch won't accept anything under the sun, just like you lot call board and roman clowns and idiots.. Just shut the ***** up and keep booing Rafa, you bunch of Tossers! Demise any new managers as much you can before even they start their work.

.....u are the one that doesn't acknowledge that ur football knowledge is limited to the dailymail and wikipedia, so why bother with u huh...LoL we all know the response to that.............all I asked is for alink with all stats for the season not just in the league, did you hear or seem mention wikepidia??

I feel sorry for people like DESMOND I really do.You are feeble minded so you go about celebrating minimal 'victories' but when it matters, you have nothing worthwhile and practical and when some1 with better knowledge than you tries to educate you, you resort to rhetoric. If VC responses are any reflection on your personalities and the lifestyle you live based on how you respond to situations and how you forecast then I feel sorry for you because success evades you, maybe small time success you can attain but the major stuff is just not going to happen. Learn to be humble, admit you wrong then move forward, acknowledging the education of those who are clearly smarter than you and learn from them, don't insult or resort to populism-seeking rhetoric because to an intelligent person you appear an idiot *smh*
@Mq
by the way, thanks for the link DESMOND because it shows in 19 matches Hulk has scored 8 goals and made 3 assists. If that's being a "flop" from a winger then you are as delusion is beyond astounding, it's eye-gouging....http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/hulk/profil/spieler_80562.html....just incase you've forgotten, this is the link you sent me. Had Hulk been at Chelsea and performing as such we'd be stronger than we are right now, and I'm sure goals wouldn't be a problem given the stats you sent me :)
@Mq
Guys we all think that Roman doesn't care about fans and their feelings and old legends. But he was the guy who brought Peter Osgood (the greatest Chelsea Legend) back to Stamford Bridge. Ossie was banned by Ken Bates. The fact is that Roman doesn't care much about stupid sentiments of fans (like Rafa the fat waiter or his criticism) when it comes against his obsession i.e. Chelsea and Chelsea as spectacle. We all want Chelsea to be respected as the 'greatest club' beacuse of its football and trophies. RA wants the same. I know he lacks patience. But guess, he is trying to be proactive. He wants Guardiola at any cost as he believes in Guardiola and his style. If we aren't in top 4 it will be difficult to persuade Pep. Rafa Benitez is not his choice, the thing is that only an experienced coach like Rafa can help as an interim manager. His preferred Hiddink is with Anzhi. So it's our thought that Rafa has been hired to help Torres. Torres is just another whom Roman trusts as a big player. Still he wants Falcao. So Torres isn't his obsession.
kunthechelseafan
I sent the link because I knew u'll take the bait, other fans that look at the link will see, he scored one league goal, one champions league goal and he scored 3" in friendlies, if u are as smart as u tout urself u'll understand we run a different calender from russian league, which I am sure ur brain could not grab, he scored 5 goals as a starter in "competitive games" while moses haven't played 19 games and playing for 90 minutes, and u say u are a manager and u don't understand simple profit maximization, between hulk's performance and moses who has the better prospect of maximization? A 45m flop or a 9m prospect.. Sorry mate u are too dumb to even see a bait.
Desmondadonis
And as u say u and roman think alike, I wonder why u didn't think along the line that he won't buy hulk or lucas moura, or did u think alike that he'll get rafa too?

just heard drogba could be back at cfc.if that happens then he'll be coached by benitez.

Carefree_1990
Actually it's 1 League, 1 Champs League, 2 in SuperLiga, 1 in the Cup and 3 in friendlies, now for a winger does that look like a flop to you?? Only Mata & Torr-Mented1 (in the league only) at Chelsea has better stats, so were he a Chelsea player he'd be among our highest goal scorers right?? LoL...as for the calender inference, when did Hulk join Zenit?? Oh yeah that's right, in October, so upon a joining a new team in a new league he has basically scored 3 goals and 2 assists in 11 matches, what "new" winger has done that??...LoL you really aren't foolish intentionally are you, it's natural...*smh*
@Mq
in the 2 (TWO) months Hulk has joined Zenit he's played 11 games, scored 3 and assisted 2, in just 2 MONTHS. Oscar has played 15 games, scored 4 and made 4 assists, who has a better goals & assists/ games ratio between the 2 based on the stats?? LoL
@Mq
MQ, 4real ar u a Banker and if yes how on earth do u do it, i mean time spent to respond to every comment posted and whats ur cabl (as a banker i no u understand the term cabl) No offence i just really want to be like you when i grow up.
Hardtackle
Hazard has been with us 4 months, played 21 games, scored 4 goals and made 10 assists when he's been with us since the season started. Compare that to Hulk who been with Zenit for 2 months, played 11 games scoring 4 goals and making 3 assists. Goals+assists /games ratio, who is better?? *smh* if you aren't smart atleast pretend to be DESMOND
@Mq
I don't like to discuss my career HARD but let's just say if other people are doing their jobs effectively I have minimal work to do :)
@Mq
Smh, u don't learn, just re-read the trash u just wrote, ur ignorance know no limit , he scored one league goal and one ucl goal, and 2 goals playing in coc equivalent (superliga), that's 5 goals in all for a 45m player, compared to a player that started only twice and scored four goals who we bought for 9m, and u say u are a banker? Will u give us a break from ur lying self?
Desmondadonis
..it's so easy to call some1 a flop without comparison statistics...
@Mq
We are comparing hulk and moses @mq, stop deviating :-) hulk £45, moses £9, hulk scored 5 in competitive games and moses scored 3, as a banker who would u chose considering cost and ur goal to attain profit maximization? Considering the material? Smh* u are no banker mate, a clerk or desk jockey is more like it. Lol
Desmondadonis
......he scored one league goal and one ucl goal, and 2 goals playing in coc equivalent (superliga), that's 5 goals in all for a 45m player.........Didn't you just make reference to Zenit having a different calender DESMOND?? Given the time all 3 players have been at their clubs, have had to adjust to the team set-up and the games played, only Oscar is having about the same stats as Hulk, Hazard would be called a flop according to your definition...*smh* keep them coming, I want to debate the foolishness out of you today. It's like demons and needs an exorcist, luckily for you I'm available :)
@Mq
....as a banker who would u chose considering cost and ur goal to attain profit maximization? Considering the material?.....Moses to Hulk?? LoL Moses can't even start for Chelsea, he was even benched for a RB so to come and spout about his abilities is idiotic, a RWinger can't start and is benched for a RB in a RW position you call that "better"?? Even Hazard hasn't "out-shown" Hulk, actually if we used your definition of a flop then we'd be saying Hazard is a flop, which isn't so. Get Real DESMOND Moses is a Wigan type player, Hulk is a Champions League type player
@Mq
Hulk started and played 19 games in all competitions for zenit scored 8 goals (played 90mins almost in all), moses played 12 (started only 2) he got 3 goals and u can still come here to argue? £45m and £9. Its a no brainer. I'll pick moses and use the fund to get another player as chelsea rightly did. Shows we still have people with brains on our board afterall
Desmondadonis
.........hulk £45, moses £9, hulk scored 5 in competitive games and moses scored 3, as a banker who would u chose considering cost and ur goal to attain profit maximization?................................just to prove how flawed you reasoning is, Hazard 35Mil scored 4 goals, Moses 9Mil scored 3 goals, are you then saying Moses is even better than Hazard?? LoL boy your natural foolishness is unprecedented
@Mq
Well we can kiss goodbye to Falcao in January.
MeadowMower
when the two of you starts this trademark regular arguement, other VC members stop posting !
11bandwagon
Desmond @Mq is the kind of guy who will make a statement eg to his daughter: "Do not marry that Guy, he is bad news?" and then proceed to rejoice should his daughter get abused coz HE WAS RIGHT... is he really the guy you think you can have a solid debate with????? He is also a new CFC fan and never witnessed the heroics of RDM as a player...also you will remember during our UCL run he was waiting with glee, hoping we'd lose so that he'd be right...He isn't worth callouses on your finger tips man...Moses is all of 21 years of age, if he cannot see the promise in him, you can never convince him, the man hated Drogba lol...
Gian-Franco/Luca
You are lying, Hulk has played 14 games for Zenit and 5 for Brazil, get your facts right DESMOND. and in those 14 games he has scored 5 goals with 2 assists which, for a winger, is pretty much equal to what Hazard has done playing 21 games, 4 goals with 10 assists. Are you saying Moses is actually better than these 2 then, given his goals/games ratio is evidently better?? LoL *pity you*
@Mq
We are arguing moses and hulk, hulk scored one league goal, one UCL goal, moses scored one league goal and one UCL goal and u dare argue that hulk is a champions league player and moses isn't? 45m and 9m having the same goals in the 2 competitions that matters in europe, without considering moses lack of game time and hulk's first choice role in zenit, anybody with an ounce of brain will go for moses. Admit u don't know what u are talking about and get back to ur security boot.
Desmondadonis
@MQ- Minimal what?? at this time of the year, you wish... Tell me u ar nt a Banker and i'll understand...
Hardtackle
@11bandwagon, sorry mate, I tried ignoring the kid who has a brain akin to that of a neonate, but he keeps mentioning my name to get attention or at his convenience kaku's, so I thought, hell let me educate him so he'll stop embarassing himself publicly. Its only a fool that will pay 45m for hulk.
Desmondadonis
Why are you being selective with your stats DESMOND why should they apply to Hulk and not Hazard, as they play the same positions?? Don't be biased lad, when you call a player a flop justify it, don't be myopic. If we used Moses as the benchmark then even Hazard is a flop, which isn't so, now why Hulk be called the flop and not Hazard if we use your stats??
@Mq
@hardtackle and gian-franco zola, all I say to ur comments is lol, thank God u know he is a lying****!!!
Desmondadonis
m y daughter would never marry an idiot GIAN she'd be raised right :)
@Mq
I won't discuss my career with you HARD sorry :)
@Mq
Who uses1 standard to measure a players effectiveness then declines to use the same for another similar player unless they are desperate to try appear right,
@Mq
We are arguing hulk as it was either of them chelsea wanted to buy, its either they buy hulk or they get a cheap and efficient moses, the board had brains and bought moses, hulk killed his chance with his poor performance with brazil at the olympics, moses better than hulk. The board and cfc says so, not DESMOND, are u going to debate with the board now?
Desmondadonis
Pheew! That was the easiest debate ever to make u look like the harebrain u are lad, sorry to blow ur secret and ur lying arse open, but u asked for it, now ur lying demon have been exorcised!! (Now who is bad?) *guffawing.
Desmondadonis
In didn't hear or see the board call Hulk a flop DESMOND but you did, so I'm asking you to justify this and you evidently cant' do so. Your "cheap" Moses can't even start a competitive game for us, he was even benched for a RB in his natural position so under no circumstances is he better than, equal to or even slightly less than Hulk, he is MILES BELOW. NEVER mention Moses & Hulk in the same sentence, it's an insult to football.
@Mq
And next time you decide to use a standard or benchmark as an addendum to your theory or reasoning, learn to use a standard 1 applicable everywhere okay :)
@Mq
@MQ never knew the russian league was as good as the premier league. Btw you were saying RDM was so much worse than AVB why are chelsea above sours. Why did your precious AVB lose 4-2 to chelsea. Also compared to how AVB did against these teams last season we were much better off. But I guess that doesn't matter to you. How long have you even been a chelsea fan
Minip12qss
Is that all u'll say? I don't see the board calling hulk a flop? What a moron u are lad!! Must the board print it on our website that we bought moses bcos we realized that hulk is a flop and won't justify his price tag? Delusion or dementia is what ur doctor diagnosed, find a cure before it cost u ur security job! A real banker won't even argue at all, cos its a no brainer, u can't even answer hardtackle's question! Don't know feck about profit maximization, so what is in it for shareholders huh? Smh* u don't know anything! And yet u call rdm an imbecile, that describes u and sums u up pretty well.
Desmondadonis
More fans are asking u out @mq, won't u reply? Or are u scurrying back to ur container? Or is it a cave? I don't know when the russian league become a place where competition is as thick as the EPL either? Yet hulk aint tearing it apart as expected, atleast we all saw what a 35m falcao did for athleti
Desmondadonis
As for Benitez being a good manager i have no doubt, even better than RDM, yes. But for him helping Torres to score again that i know will not happen cos torres is past it,for those with some faith in him still admire your passion but pls wake up to reality. From the start of season, i had worries over RDM's pedigree even for winning us the CL, that was seen in some matches. I know he had little say over transfer's but why accept a job you know you have no control over? If forcing Torres on you meant your work will suffer, then reject the offer. come on he had other places to choose better still accept to remain as assistant to whoever
jim shimfe
Desmondadonis Why you are wasting your energy on that banker with out any BANK? Just leave him be.He is just lying and everybody in the site knows it.They just dont want to point it just bcz it will look rude.He can even say in a year he owns a bank like BARCLAY'S.
BlueAndWhiteArmy
@Desmond.... That "press conference" was what I think Rafa SHOULD say. Not something that he actually has said. I think if he's a bit open and addresses the problemn then it might go some way to people giving him a bit more patience instead of blindly being critical

It's beyond my understanding that you guys are paying attention to @Mq? Don't you see that He/she is more interseted to prove his/her point rather than sharing thoughts/opinions about Chelsea. Just ignore his/her comments. ***dy attention seeker.
kunthechelseafan
@desmond. Thanks for the compliment. I work in Brand Management and have become quite adept at using PR (for good or bad!!). Let's hope that Rafa does say something like this and it isn't just hollow sentiment. If he genuinely comes here to try and make changes to benefit the club and us as fans, then I hardly see how that can be a bad thing. We are in a very bad place, and if it takes a deal with the devil to bring us out of this slump then so be it. One thing I would add, and I've said on other threads.... Rafa is one manager that I actually despise. He was the last on the list of managers that I wanted at our club, but the simple fact is that we're stuck with him for now and as I love this club more than I hate anyone manager, he'll get my backing whilst he's in charge. One thing he won't get though is the same patience I gave to others in his position. If he can't effect a change by Xmas then I'll be the first person saying "isn't enough enough?".
Bizarre_Blue
Hulk is overrated. The Brazilian Kalou.
foreign_viewer
@bizarre_blue, that is pure skill in the job u are doing, it shows u know what u are talking about and frany it will earn him a few more support if he tries that, I heard on twitter that he called lamps overated and drogba a diving coward!!! Drogba responded with a goal and sweet celebration after the game. So he needs to swallow his pride and apologize.

I think it's important for Chelsea Football Club to honour the true fans. Roman owns the club, but Chelsea is ours. RDM was going to be fired at some point this season, be it the end or the beginning, at least now he leaves with his reputation intact. Thank you for everything Mr.DiMatteo. Benitez was not the best possible man for the job. That said I'll be perfectly happy if this means Mourinho comes back to the club next year. Wouldn't all of you too? Let's get behind the side and fat useless spanish dude(no not Torres). ***** the colour is blue... #ChelseaBlues

Most true and important thing to be said about Benitez's appointment = "If Mata, Oscar or Hazard start to look unhappy, this will be the biggest disaster in our modern history." londonfc
Warney23
...@Mq - why do you keep calling Chelsea players derogatory names all the time????? Please stop it.....show me the time and place I called anyone by thaty, apart from DESMOND for obvious reasons
@Mq
...@MQ never knew the russian league was as good as the premier league....so that's no reason to say Hulk is a flop, is it MINIP12?? As for AVB being better than RDM, the situation speaks for itself. AVB got a 3 year deal after being sacked by Chelsea, RDM got a 2 year deal after winning the 'coveted' Champions League and FA Cup. Tell me again, who is jobless now??
@Mq
Profit Maximization by choosing Moses over Hulk?? LoL don't name stuff you can't explain DESMOND who do you think would best give you instant returns between the 2?? As for Falcao 'tearing up' La Liga, he's been there for longer than Hulk has been at Zenit, Hulk's been there 2 months only lad and he's already scoring + assisting, and he's a winger while Falcao is a forward so why you comparing ghe 2?? Give it a rest lad, you have nothing worthwhile to say, every 'neutral' observer can see that....
@Mq
......He is just lying and everybody in the site knows it.They just dont want to point it just bcz it will look rude......why thank you for pointing that out BLUEANDWHITE I feel sooooooo much better now :)
@Mq
@mq, its so painful right? That fans found u out, u got nothing to ur argument, it seem the board and fans are on the same wavelength except u who for reasons unknown think with ur mouth rather than ur brain, hulk is a flop!! Even if its for a month, falcao hitted the ground running, hazard did too in a tougher league lad, but it seem as if ur hulk hit the ground and begin to crawl!! Get over it sonny boy, u know zilch about football, study and learn, its not necessary u post at all times, just reading comments will educate u.
Desmondadonis
I told u that u are schizophrenic, u thought it was a jibe, u call ashley cole "cashley, lampard lumpyard and torres "tormentor and tormented. Why are u so versed in the art of lying? Ur integrity as an honest man is questionable :-)
Desmondadonis
@MQ when have i said that hulk was a flop, i'm just arguing the point that moses isn't doing as bad as you think he is. The premier league is much tougher than the russian league. Your second point who has a champions league and fa cup on their CV and who doesn't. Di matteo will be back in a job quicker than AVB ever was.
Minip12qss
Rafa is also going to make us the hated club in England again. He never got on with any of the other managers and some of the stuff he use to come up with in his press conferences were laughable. For instance saying that Lpoo couldn't win the league even though they were top at the turn of the year (only finished 3 point off utd in the end) and promising that they will qualify for the CL ending up finishing 7th. Just some of evidence to show he doesn't really know what he is on about!
Ess...DaBison
rafa will never be the right choice
Ess...DaBison
Desmond - MQ is a Bank Manager, how the hell can anyone expect honesty from a Bank Manager. It's only about the money for them, no matter who they burn or p**s upon. A bit like RA some would say.
BlueABS
DJDUTTS is correct in all he says & to use a phrase that I actually hate, it being much over used in business, we are where we are. It is still my club, my love, my passion & the reason I look forward to weekends. I will support whatever 11 players take the field for us & will always hope that our manager has made the correct decisions, whoever he is. Football is different you know, in almost any other occupation a manager sacks the workers under him for failure but in our sport the worst they get is a lucrative transfer, while the manager is the one sacked. I have no doubt that some of our 1st team squad need to have a good look at their recent performances.
analooish
The reality is that I do not have to accept what is going on at Chelsea and will not anymore. I like the success but hate the way the club is run so I'm out. I never wanted RDM but if you give someone a job you give them a fair crack at it! This aint the effing gulag!
unclezillion
...we have a chance to win 5 Cups and that motivated me to accept the position....talk about #ambition this is just brilliant. Finally some1 who isn't 'shy' or timid to discuss wanting to win :)
@Mq
...@mq, its so painful right? That fans found u out, u got nothing to ur argument, it seem the board and fans are on the same wavelength except u....LoL I don't need to emphasize what's evident from our debate DESMOND :)
@Mq
and calling me a schizo I mean LoL quit the rhetoric, it's not working :)
@Mq
... Di matteo will be back in a job quicker than AVB ever was....I'll quote you on this MINI12 and we'll see the stature of the club too :)
@Mq
Maybe it is the time for Torres at chelsea or it will never be. He is to prove his worth or he will never repay Roman for the trust he ut in him and paid all the much just to bring him from the pools

There comes that time that chelsea players are going to respond to the new anager and the moment they do, the slump period will be over and the league in sight. Just hope it happens.
