Di Mateo was dismissed because of Pep.
Hear me out.
We the fans are the reason he got this years job. Had he not been hired we would all be furious, just as we all are now.
He was hired to prevent us from being mad this summer.
He was fired at the best possible time before he wins any trophies (we're not out of the Champions League or any other competition yet).
Had Di Matteo won any trophies this year he would have been hard to fire and thus Roman misses the chance to bring in Pep.
Now why Benetiz?
He is the only manager that could win EVERY trophy and we the fans would still LOVE to fire him at the end to the year.
Roman is obsessed with Pep and he will hire him after.
Pep better be worth it.

If it were about fan's concerns many things would be different to chelsea. Aklthough i agree with you that pep was the man all along RDM was not appointed because of the fans but because he was the best possible one year stop gap measure until pep comes back

Pep will not come, and if he does, he will fail....but if he doesn't I will petition for the sanctification of Roman by the Vatican...because that is 1-2-3 miracles that Roman would have performed.

i wanted pep....but i dont think he wont join roman circus....because there would be so mucchhh of expetation on him if he becoms chelsea managers....because roman is going mad in doing whatever he can just to appoint him....i dont think he will join chelsea looking at the way things are turning at chelsea...

The first line Di Matteo was dismissed because of Pep sums it up and if Roman does hire him I hope he puts shows faith in him rather then that £50m flop who I hope is gone if he takes over the reigns at SB.

I personally think that it's Mourinho he has been after and not Guardiola all along. Why did they take so long to sign Di Matteo after his UCL victory? Why did Mourinho just renew his contract at Real just after Di Matteo had signed? Obviously I could be barking up the wrong tree but it will be interesting to find out what happens in the summer.
