Up Against Your Heroes

On Sunday morning, David Luiz will be amongst the eleven selected by Rafa Benitez when we take on Corinthians in the Club World Cup Final.

For Luiz the fixture will hold a degree of poignancy as Corinthians were the team that he supported during his childhood and the fixture has captivated the attention of his family, all of whom will be back in London watching the game, prompting Luiz to admit to the media,

"I`m anxious to go back and see them - with the title."

"I said it would be a dream to play Corinthians but for that dream to come true, I need to win the final."

"I know Corinthians were there to watch us against Monterrey. When you win against one team,, playing well, scoring three goals, all the people look at it as a great thing."

"I can`t remember the last time I started in midfield. When Rafa said I was in midfield I was happy because I love playing and work hard to have an opportunity to be in the 11 starters."

"We are playing with more confidence again but that`s natural. When you win, you take more confidence."

"Football moves quickly. Sometimes, you take bad moments and sometimes good moments. Now the team is on its way to good moments. We need to enjoy it."

Can Luiz score against the team that he supported as a boy ad win us the World Club Cup? Well stranger things have happened!
