Hanging Around

After suffering the pain of defeat out in Japan, the squad now have to sit around twiddling their thumbs.

The intention of starting the long flight back to London, almost immediately after the game, has been kyboshed by the Japanese authorities refusing to lift the late night flying restrictions, meaning that Chelsea cannot start the long journey home until tomorrow.

The result being that they will not get back to London until Tuesday afternoon and with a Capital One Cup quarter-final against Leeds United, at Eland Road, on Wednesday evening, there are fears that Rafa the 'interim` Gaffer will be forced to field a shadow side.

Thanks for nothing should be our departing words when we leave the Land of the Rising Sun!

This is certainly not good news for us. Rafa said he would win the fans over by winning trophies..he should have added that winning trophies is probably the only way he can buy some time knowing roman's trigger happy finger. Realistically speaking the Capitol one (Carling ) cup is our only hope of a trophy this season and now this is in serious danger. Neil Warnock and his players will fancy their chances against us at their place with a badly jet lagged team with little rest and sagging confidence. Rafa must find a way to win this match on wednesday because if we lose that game he may not even last till January.

every time a team presses us with physicality we cant cope we need ballack/old essien to provide some sort of physical presence. we r like fkin arsenal
Humza_96
That not good news.with our thin team,i wont mind giving untested players a chance and resting all of our first team players.so many vital games ahead.

It will be naïve if peeps say we don't need fellaini, we obviously need a midfield steel who can act as a brute

Whats happenin??is our season really crumblin before our eyes??..this certainly a bad news, coupled with the fact that we just lost the world cup(am stil very sad)..the trip to japan was a wasted journey afterall

I am getting a very bad feeling about the whole thing..Spurs are now level with us on points and just behind are everton and West Brom..i look at our final three BPL games for the year; against Aston Villa (who just beat a Liverpool team we could not right in Anfield) an in form Norwich City and bogey team Everton and i have no confidence that we can win any of those three games..We could really be in a bad way by the end of the year..January cannot come some enough..major reinforcements are needed ASAP!!!

does this mean there will be no training session b4 the leeds game? *****

Turnbull; Azpi, Iva, Ake, bertrand; Saville, Luiz; Marin, Oscar, Piazon; Moses... don't care if they're thrown in on wheel chairs, we can't lose this game!

or maybe Paulo @ CB instead of Ake

Rafa i would say just didn't give himself enough flexibility with the team he set out yesterday! but to me i tought he still had options but refused to use it. i tought lampard justified his inclusion in the team until corinthians started pressing us hard and it was at this point i was shouting where i was watching the match that 'where was the balance in the team'. when corinthians started pressing us we were disorganised, giving away the ball and just couldn't regain it back quickly hence balance was needed. i was expecting changes like azpi coming in for moses, then luiz moved into midfield, mata wasn't in the game could have been substituted for Mikel then maybe oscar for hazard as it was clear benitez has no interest removing lamps from the setup. i belive if this subs were made , balance would have been restored into the game and we wouldn't have conceded and maybe we would not score too but will see out the game into penalties. this is why i blame benitez for the defeat because he didn't sort for balance in the game. am not coach and i dont intend to be but benitez has been clamouring about balance for weeks but was dissapointed he didn't sort for it against corinthians
