For One Man's Glory

For One Man's Glory

Either it is the owner (Roman Abramovich) or a fading legend or an interim manager looking to gain some popularity.

The pressing question I ask all of you is - are the affairs of this great club of ours being managed to suit individual glory?

CASE NUMBER ONE: Let's take a look at our benevolent owner who rescued the club from a fate most fans shudder to even think about and an owner who has generously spent on world-class talents thereby making a world class team.

However, some would say, his flaws are there for all to see, which most of us agree started with the sacking of 'The Special One' who allegedly wouldn't stand for the interference of the owner.

And most obvious of all is the intro of 'tiki taka' at the reported insistence of Roman, although beautiful in its origins it has brought the club more negatives than positives. But the most vivid flaw of all is the ruthless sacking of a club legend who won us the most coveted trophy the owner and the fans have wished for, whether it was deserved or not I guess that argument is for another day.

However can you really blame him to seek his way or glory to some extent after investing over a billion dollars in a club he has grown to love and cherish?

CASE NUMBER TWO: Here we take a look at a player who in all senses has given his all to a club which he has adopted as home over a period of 10 years. Frank Lampard has sweated and shed tears and has also had to overcome the painful loss of his mother to take to the field to represent his dear club.

In spite of all this, it increasingly seems our once esteem legend has fallen from his mantle (in some fans eyes - not mine - editor) for his recent poor performances which seemingly comes from a lack of discipline or not being fully acquainted with his new role.

Or as most of us have rightly pointed out, is his neglect of his basic duties as a Defensive Midfielder as he constantly bombs forward to seek personal glory as he inches close to Bobby Tambling's record of the most goals scored by a player for this fine club of ours.

However it is his recent behavior which has lost him some die-hard Lampard fans which is his cunning way of getting his own way by running to the media or causing unrest in the camp by his posture if things are not going his way (are you sure? - editor). Has the once darling boy of CFC put his own glory ahead of that of the club?

But even with all this in mind can you really blame him, with so much passion and desire to play for his beloved club, yet there is an increasing sense that he is not wanted at where he craves most to be. So why not devise a way to still put him in the limelight even if it means for his own (glory) to that of the club.

CASE NUMBER THREE: Lastly, we have an interim manager who is being booed by the fans of the club he is tirelessly working for. A manager whom, from day one of his tenure; the fans have made it known to that he is not wanted at the club, albeit for good reasons in their view.

So he gets an opportunity to win a trophy and shut the 'boo boys' up for a while and probably thought to himself, what if I play the fans favourite and out of favour legend who is clearly craving for attention and win the trophy I bet that will get the fans off my back for a while longer.

This we all know backfired greatly and further made us a ridicule of most of the pundits and opposition fans who continue to say our heroic efforts at the Nou Camp and Allianz Arena were a damn fluke.

So I ask you all if all these people are seemingly seeking for self-glorification, what does the future of our club hold and who is seeking the good welfare of the club and the fans to an extent?

My personal opinion is that only Roman (despite his flaws) currently has the club interest at heart and him seeking self glorification has seen the club enjoy its most successful era since it was established.

And for the two cases I respectfully hold my comments back.

Your opinions would be most welcome!

in roman case he was the creator with his huge investment he made chelsea one of the the dominating force in world which no one can deny...he has a huge passion for chelsea he is like us who want chelsea to play beautiful footaball and win trophies also.. .but his passion is also the main problem for today what our club has gone through...the passion along with his big ambition has taken chelsea into a dangerous situation today...his craziness for seeing chelsea playing like barcelona has today made chelsea into a laughing stock....i hope if he had followed how barcelona has been managed by their board rather than how they are playing then today i think today chelsea would have been in great situation...but not the case today....our board sucks big time...and they are not helping roman either.....2) on lampard situation he was good player no doubt about it but that was in the PAST....people should understand that now he is no longer the lamps which we used to see....he should move on to find new challange and chelsea should also move on with it....and about saying that he shouldnt go because he is a legend if that was the case then all the so call our exlegend like zola rdm wise poyet.etc would have been still playing with chelsea...lamps time has gone....Move on with it....3) and about rafa if the club soul i.e fan doesnt like you dont want you here then there is no point in debating....now he has been given some duty let him do it......its not his fault that he got the job its our board fault who gave him that job....no point in blaming him now......because our season is already feckedd big time....just some how qualify for cl next season and i hope till then roman get some sense back...

While Roman might truly have clubs best interests at heart, he is the ultimate decision maker! Thus, his decisions that undermine all his investment, he is playing football manager with the club and it will ruin the roman empire and ultimately cfc! This kind of interference from an owner into fc matters is really embarasing and dissapointing to witness at the very least. All the change inpersonnel were his calls or at least mostly his, so as far as all the sakings, sheva torres, saking of jm so on and so fourth were direct result of romans tinckering with the club like a play toy! As far as lampard is concerned, agree eith the statement that you cant really blame him, he is a senior member of the squad and has his influence in the team, so is he doesnt perform on the pitch its up to the manager to make required adjustments, but how can it be done if he knows that anything bad that happens on the pitch will get the manager saked in no time and this cannont command the reapect and loyalty of the players. How can it be achieved? Only through stability and right structure with in the club pulling in the same direction. We can all se that all of the managers are just using the tools at their disposal, some trust experience, some pick ob reputation because all the managers we had except jm could not make the team his and puck based on performance and tactics. Torres has been our worst player for 2 yrs now, but even then the club saw him as our deadly 9 lmfao and is being picked no matter what he does on the pitch! I dont blame torres for playing or lamps for that matter its up to the manager to manage the team and di gis job, imo the only person that we should take responsibility for this mess is non other then mr RA himself, as he is undoing all the great work he already did!

Roman should just get rid of the 3 amigos(gourlay, buck, emenalo) and get proper football people to run the affairs of cfc,why would they let go of meireless, kdb, essien, kalou and drogba without adequate replacements??they made ridiculous decisions that left us thin.goin into the season with torres spearheadin the attack was our worse mistake

Just got back from Japan, embarrased by yet another lack lustre performance. Benitez was slow in making substitutions, but the players that have been purchased by Roman via Emenalo`s advice are simply not strong enough or good enough. If Roman does not realize that his close football advisers are incompetent pretty soon, he will be viewed as a rich laughing stock. Speaking to most CFC fans that made the expensive trip, that is the concencus of opinion already.
