Those Tears

The tears streaming down the face of David Luiz, after the final whistle, showed just how much the game meant to the Brazilian.

Luiz, along with Ramires, was quite possibly our stand-out player and upon being asked about those tears, he offered a very plausible explanation, commenting,

"I have a heavy heart. I cried I waned to win."

"I dreamed one day of playing in the Club World Cup Final. I play for a big club and big clubs win big games and big titles."

"You can cry one night. Tomorrow is another day. The difference was one goal and we had many chances to score. The difference was details."

"I congratulate Corinthians but I cannot be happy. I wanted to win this title."

"I can run for three hours if I want because physically I want to be able to put my head on my pillow every night and know that I have done my best."

"I think I played well and say thanks to God for my life always, in good moments and bad moments. I have a heavy heart but I have an amazing family. I have a great job and a great life."

Now that's commitment. If only we had 11 players on the field who thought this way, we'd be a pretty formidable force. He sang and danced away when we won, he shed tears when we lost. Talent is one thing, commitment, devotion to the cause and the desire to win are what makes a good team brilliant. Despite his obvious flaws, this is one player I personally can't dislike.
BlueJay25
If you wanted to see how committed this guy was watch Chelsea vs Qpr last year .. the one where we received two red cards !!
slash_blue
I said it earlier today, and will say it again. After this match, the man who rallies the lads and not tears them down in public, shows raw emotion, courage and a will to win will be Chelsea's next Captain. When JT calls time, Luiz will be the one with that armband and rightly so. Vice Captain either Rammy (language issue tho.. when talking to refs) or Cahill. Everyone else is either too nice, quiet or just simply better at given instructions then giving them.
ForeverChels
once JT said "Luiz is a captain in making"......
The Persian
ForeverChels ...And Luiz speaks good english and isn't " too nice " ?? Haha :D

i always forgive him. when ever he does some abysmal challenge or goofy thing. cant help but love his wee face. bet he gets in and outta right trouble with his missus lol. anyone noticed that he has a habbit of being world.class or world clown...often in the same match. good ol luiz :)

There is a reason I have a #4 David Luiz Chelsea sweater....because he gets most everything right...he has passion for his team and club and he cares...he is competitive. I will be breaking out my #4 shirt this Sunday when my son and I travel over the big pond to watch the Aston Villa game in person... If I were to purchase players for Chelsea...the first question would be..."how much heart does he have"...I know the answer to that question regarding David Luiz....
lamarochs
@slash_blue Thats just one of the examples you could state. Fact is, he wears his heart on his sleeve and can never be accused of not giving a 110% every time hes out on the field. Sadly, can't say the same about some others currently wearing the Chelsea jersey.
BlueJay25
This guy frustrates me so much. On the one hand he is careless and reckless and I beg of Chelsea to get him out the Club ASAP. But every now and then he comes out of a performance like yesterday where he was pretty much flawless reminding me of what he is capable when he is up for the challenge. If only he treated every game like a cup final he would no doubt be one of the best defenders in the world.
Ess...DaBison
Well y'all have said what is to say in this article, we got too mych softees in the team and players who's life style are too comfortable, u see chelsea players before the roman era busting their left nuts to win as soon as its kick off!!! We just have too many divas in our club right now and we need to beef up with experience and steel
Desmondadonis
so painful we lost this match but i saw it coming. Rafa i would say just didn't give himself enough flexibility with the team he set out yesterday! but to me i tought he still had options but refused to use it. i tought lampard justified his inclusion in the team until corinthians started pressing us hard and it was at this point i was shouting where i was watching the match that 'where was the balance in the team'. when corinthians started pressing us we were disorganised, giving away the ball and just couldn't regain it back quickly hence balance was needed. i was expecting changes like azpi coming in for moses, then luiz moved into midfield, mata wasn't in the game could have been substituted for Mikel then maybe oscar for hazard as it was clear benitez has no interest removing lamps from the setup. i belive if this subs were made , balance would have been restored into the game and we wouldn't have conceded and maybe we would not score too but will see out the game into penalties. this is why i blame benitez for the defeat because he didn't sort for balance in the game. am not coach and i dont intend to be but benitez has been clamouring about balance for weeks but was dissapointed he didn't sort for it against corinthians

he is a special guy.. a special one.. sorry.. THE special one.. same as mourinho.. alwayss follow the heart and be what they actually are.. rather than trying to show up what actually ther are not... love u luiz...

luiz is my hero
starginga
@bluesinme, bull*****, this is not the hazard of Lille I knw, is like he's having a setback, nt happy at all, even oscar, with the price tag,I expect better from him. in short none of our new signings have impressed me so far
jayb
This right here is why i love this guy...that passion, that commitment to the cause even when his execution is not perfect..it can never be said that this guy does not care and that he has not laid it all out there...as others have said if others (who will go unnamed) had that same commitment we would be a much better team.
GabeU
Piazon has had a go at the rest of the team for not showing enough desire to win the CWC Final... He's said that apart from Luiz & Rammy, nobody else showed the desire to win...

shaf86
Piazon obviously stated the exact problem in the team, none of our players(except luiz and rammy) showed any hunger, zeal to win..they were just complacent and carefree.i dont think they understand what the worldcup meant to cfc and its fans..ffs,on sunday we had a greater % of pedestrans and beauty queens on that pitch than footballers. Oh if only we had half a team as passionate and committed like the brazillians it would have been a different story
Ken4CFC
Pure Passion for the club and football.they were no croc tears that i know.
blue5
David really deserves the captain armband after Terry leaves the club.He is the only one from our current squad, whose passion and dedication are comparable to Big John's.And he is a tough guy,he is ready to give anybody a battle. We need more players like him if we want to be successful. That is why I approve the signings of Fellaini and Falcao, because they will give us that fighting spirit, which we used to have in Essien and Drogba.Players like Mazacar are needed too to add flair and fluidity to our game, but it will be only when they start to give their 110 percent on both ends of the pitch that we will become strong silverware contenders.
Simeon23
I admire his passion 100% and definitely glad he's a Chelsea player but...(sorry lads I have to do this) he must either be moved from CB or be grilled on maintaining his status quo (when playing CB) because for the legend he is, he could be doing a lot more to endearing himself by reducing (ultimately eliminating, if possible) all those defensive errors he is prone to
@Mq
Do you guys notice Piazon (now Luiz) talking about their sadnessd in losing this match, also roping in Ramires (Brazilians all 3)?? I wonder, is it something to do with being "questioned" about their abilities because they play in Europe and the "local" boys believe they actually better?? I'm not sure what experiences some of you had as kids but I recall being "belittled" for going to a boarding school by my playground mates....Damaged pride.....*just wondering*
@Mq
An interesting insight into MQs past......David Luiz is the Juniors Ambassador at Chelsea and already being primed to be our next captain - so wish he would play midfield though

After much careful taught, i sincerely think that the players we should buy in January are Fellanni (25-30m), Demba ba (7-9m) and Walcott(12-15m)...although I am concerned Demba ba might be going to afcon. I am assuming Sturridge is leaving and that will take our net spending (worst case scenario) to 30m + 9m + 15m -15m = 39m....which i dont think is too bad..i think girly FT9 and Ba should get us into top four which appears to be the priority now together with all the talents we've got...espcially Fellani in the midfield and Walcott mostly on the wings and as a back up for the strikers...then we can consider our striking options in the summer...Falcao is fantastic and probably what we need...but the cost implication will be really heavy at a net figure figure of 46m - 15m(amount from Danny's sale)=31m which is just 8m million less than the amount we will need to get three players...except we can do a falcao and FT9 + cash deal which i dont think any team in its right senses will agree to....less importantly, i also think getting Falcao now might affect our spending in the summer especially if it does not work out and we dont make top four...none of Fellani and Walcott will want to come to us then..so the sensible path is to get these players in January and in the summer we can properly sort out our striker issues...there will be good options then i am quite sure even if falcao goes elsewhere: Jovetic, Cavani, Lewandoski just to mention a few...go chelsea.

After i saw him cry.....i forgive him for every mistake he's ever done while wearing a chelsea shirt..This are the kinda players we need..players who would bleed blue..players who would give a 110%..players who value the shirt they are putting on..thumbs up to the David L.. When we lost the community shield and super cup i wasn't that angry cos i knew we've won it before. But losing the club world cup hurts real bad! This is a trophy we've never won before..and it was a very good opportunity to make history.for the past 2days i'v bn moody..anytime i think 'bout how guerrero scored and how we missed a very clear chance 'bout 5mins to go my heart aches..It really hurts you knw. *SMH*

Sorry for the triple post.
Krested Kal-el
@layorh12..Demba ba won't be playing Afcon cos his country senegal failed to qualify.
Krested Kal-el
@Krested..thanks....which even gives some more credence to my taughts...i just hope we get it right cos we obviously need reinforcements in january but it must be done with utmost care....God help us.
layorh12
Demba Ba is too slow.
zosBlue
@Zos I dont think he is too slow, maybe not the fastest but more importantly he can lead the line, he is physical has a great technique, has scored against virtually all the best center backs in the league and he has a really good chance to goal conversion ratio...although my suggestion is not for the long term, its more like a solution that will sustain us till the end of the season while we achieve our critical aim which is to finish top 4..come summer, I am sure we will find strikers deals that will be fantastic for us...i gave some examples above...carefree!!
layorh12
This is my take on this...we need the older players to impact that winning mentality into the younger lads, but the problem is,most of the older players are not guaranteed a stay, and don't have a say in the longer project of the club. Takes you back to the same issue I speak of every time, lack of a solid plan and foundation. Barcelona understand what it means to show loyalty and build on the transition. Puyol signs a new 4 year deal at Barcelona at 34, Xavi renews 2 year deal. They understand that they need this players not just for on the pitch activities but to tutor the new breeds of la masia players about the barcelona way. Some players are born leaders like David, they fight whenever they are up for it,some are pretty young and fragile and need tutorship, and that's where we need the Legends. I would hope we give them a sense of assurance so the likes of Oscar who looks up to lamps and learns from lamps and the likes of Bertrand who looks up to Ashley and learns from Ashley can grow and learn what it means to have a winning mentality.
nelyvanile
May be you're right @layorh12, I'm just desperate for us to start bossing midfield and get more than 60% possession. That's the only way forward I'm afraid, be better than arsenal at their own game or follow them to mediocrity.
zosBlue
Rumours saying Falcao is a done deal again?? Wtf!

At this point,i dont mind if we go for christian benteke, the lad is a brute,he physical, works very hard for the team,he is 22 and most importantly he knows where the back of the net is...he reminds me of a certain ivorian named DROGBA
Ken4CFC
there are certain players over the last 42 years that immediately leave heir mark and you know straight away that they are true blues to the back bone. some just stick out a mile and they are a very rare breed. some are exactly the opposite. just money grabbing mercenaries. mr. luiz, despite your glaring faults you are a true blue indeed and i hope you will be a member of the blue family for a very long time to come
trueblue44
http://hereisthecity.com/2012/12/17/mikel-and-luiz-display-mutiny-or-simply-uncertainty-at-chelsea/ Is RB losing the dressing room?
teepie
Well put @true. @teepie I am not so sure that he 'had' it to begin with. The players know he is interim therefore probably take what he says with a smurf's pinch of salt if you catch my drift.. I don't think it is wise to keep a player such as Luiz confined to a cb position without giving him a proper run in the pivot to see what he can do. He likes to get forward sure but not as much as Frank so I can see it working to our benefit.
ForeverChels
smurf's size* ;)
ForeverChels
@nely, too true m8 although are young guns are showing more heart and courage than the older lot (generally speaking..). That is the only thing that is sounding alarm bells for me; perhaps we will go about leadership roles starting from the younger lads rather than the older ones? Then again, we're not accustomed to doing things the easy way anyways :p
ForeverChels
our* feck sorry guys, my spelling today quite sucks.
