Match Day Moments - (Dirty) Leeds (League Cup - a)
It`s time to put the disappointment of Sunday and the defeat in the FIFA Club World Cup Final behind us as we continue our pursuit of domestic glory.
As I`ve probably mentioned numerous times before, in the build-up, Eland Road is not a place for the faint-hearted and tonight`s fixture has that aura about it that fixtures with a history of rivalry inevitably do.
Rafa takes his tired troops to Elland Road with a trio suspended - Cahill, Ramires and Mikel - whilst Terry and Romeu are out injured. One recent absentee, Daniel Sturridge, is back in full training but won`t, we`re told, be considered (saving him for a January exit I wonder).
As usual, we`re asking you to join us, from 19:15 onwards, whereby we`ll be on hand to discuss the starting eleven, the possible tactics and all the gory action as it unfolds up in darkest Yorkshire.

Saw a tweet about a big fight on a train (or near one) between Chelsea and Leeds supporters. I've always lived in the states and don't know much about Leeds, but in my mind I keep thinking of The Damned United and Green Street Hooligans. Whatever atmosphere I just want to see a committed performance. I hope we're up for the battle.

Nice save from petr cech and nice follow up from luiz, oscar and luiz interplaying well, I shot that went off target from iva over the bar, we are realing attacking at every opportunity but we need to be ruthless or else we'll soon tire out, neil warnock is probably telling his players to press us and sit deep, we need a goal quick and it will come from either moses"s wing or marin, both players have been impressive, and leeds score a very good goal from a counter attack with chelsea losing the ball through david luiz pass, they hit us on the break and we suffer yet again through lack of character and finishing

The goal was not only Luiz's fault. Yes, he took the ball out of position but no one came to him to ask for the ball... and when he ventured forward, there should have been a defensive midfielder to sit back and cover for him. The whole team was at fault for that one.

Nice shot from lampard and torres is a joke of a striker, azpi is wasteful and we need to caution our players to be more calm in front of goal, we have space behind the leeds back 4 but we are not utilizing it at all, manutd will be enjoying that space if they are the one playing! des; its lampard. Mata has no space and has to act as a false 9 because lampard is always in his position. Oscar is playing his balls off cause he is covering for lamps. Its no surprise that when lampard is in the pivot we have no control on the flow of the game via the midfield.

@abzkilla, I am not a fan of lampard playing in the pivot but don't u think he is our only threat at goal? He played 3 shots on target with that nasty free-kick just now, we need mata off for saville, and lampard to be in the no.10 with oscar in the pivot with saville, why I said oscar should stay in the pivot is that he can still make tackles and he his better at it than lamps and he is still clean from cards, if we play mata for 90 mins we'll concede more, he is offering nothing at all in this game, push lamps upfront to CAM, saville and oscar in the pivot and marin and moses should be more incisive with their crosses and commit the defenders for a penalty appeal, we'll need to change early and saville and hazard are my candidates, hazard for marin in the 70th minute, saville for mata are our best options to salvage something from this game in my own opinion

If you guys were paying attention on the goal, Oscar left his man, (the goal scorer) to press the attacker with the ball. This left the man totally unmarked....Oscar's solely to blame on the goal...It has nothing to do with David Luiz...If David brings the ball forward everyone from U-8 on up knows that one of the midfielders has to fall back into the center back position. This of course didn't happen as you have a two ACM in the pivot...Not getting down on anyone but typical for Chelsea as they control the game and can't score...then give up one single change to the opposition and they score...it just shows that Chelsea has a weak midfield with players out of position. Also Torres is invisible...

A very much bigger task for chelsea in the second half. Mata needs to go off and bring in hazard. If we dont equalise in the first 20minutes of the second half then its game over cos our players would tire out faster than theirs with them hitting us on the break.

Leeds can have no complaints in the end. Chelsea deserved the win. Neil Warnock's side worked hard throughout, competed with the Blues in the first half and sensed a shock at the break but ultimately the quality of Mata, Hazard, et al shone through.

Marin did not exactly impress me, he did not look all that fast, but he showed some nice touches so i feel if he gets an extended run that brings him up to speed, he can be very useful on the wing. Moses looked good throughout, so also Oscar. Lamps looked really fired up & some of his attempts on goal (though arguably he could have looked to pass) reminded me of the old Lamps. Luiz was great apart from a 10 minute spell when he ventured too far out every so often & got badly rapped for it by Leeds with their opening goal. Iva was terrific as an attacking threa on corners. Players did not show much jet lag, credit to them & the staff.

Tale of two halves - We looked dreadful in the first! Perhaps Rafa got something right and had a decent team talk at HT. Lamps was MOTM, Moses looked great throughout and Eden was excellent once on.

We had a word with ourselves at half time and the early goal gave us an impetus to go on and win it. Zeenut, I agree about Marin. But in his defense he doesn't have any match fitness/experience at all of late. That pass from Luiz was quite bad, but he really doesn't deserve the blame for the goal. It's not as if he just left his position. He carried the ball forward. It's basic football that a midfielder needs to drop to cover and Oscar did a terrible job of it. Iva coulda done much better as well defending that break.

The one match this season that i wasnt ready to raise my expectations too high turned out to produce the best second half display that chelsea have played this season. Whatever rafa the interim gaffer told them at half time really worked wonders. The only negative in this match was torres. Even tough he finally got a goal, i would still insist that this is his worst display along with his performance against west brom. He was too awful. However i really enjoyed the match and am happy the girlie striker atleast got his goal.

The team was good in the first half, their goalkeeper was doing well. The reaction in the second half was fantastic, especially with travelling back from Japan and having jet lag. We were looking for character and the reaction was so good, we have to consider it for the future. Every competition is important for us and a top side like us has to win every competition. To know the players and spend time with them is important. I was really pleased with the time we spent together in Japan. I was comfortable with the job from the first day and I will try my best until the end."
