'If It's Football, It's Vital'

One Month

Okay, I want your honest opinion here and I will try and make it short.

It`s been a month since our Legend (I guess you know him)was sacked and a certain coach (guess you know him too) was hired temporary.

Since then we have played 8 matches, and out of the 8 we have won 4, drawn 2 and lost 2 in all competitions.

In these eight matches, we have been knocked out the Champions League (we were on the verge of elimination when he was sacked but don't forget we were still in it), we're 1 3points behind the league leaders (albeit 1 outstanding match), we have missed out on the Club World Cup, but are still in the Capital One Cup.

Now supposing our legend was still in charge would things have different?

Would we be calling ourselves World Champions?

What would have been the point gap between the league leaders and us?

What about the Champions league and Capital One Cup?

Your views would be appreciated.

yaa i dnt knw wether we had won club world cup or not but we would have been in a great position....and we would be happy and more of a cohesive unit....im not fan of rdm but i prefer him anytime over rafa....people are calling rafa a tactician but his tactics is way bad than rdm....rafa subs are the worst than rdm....rafa will take chelsea with him i.e downward....
shlok27
hard call very hard...but i think maybe we'd have been slightly better overall under RDM...it was a tough patch with RDM which i felt was going to pass..but hey i could be worng....but i think we probably would have won the CWC...because being knocked out of the champions league and our our trrible performance at the super cup could have given RDM more motivation to win the CWC...anyways RDM is gone and Tubby is doing his best...i do hope we get some success this season still..and then plan for the long term (hoping against hope) in the summer...we desperately need some stability....
layorh12
Its a tough call, it will be a bias assessment if I say RDM wouldve done a better job, I am not a seer or prophet but what I'll say is that we can't be worse off if rdm is still with us, rdm's team wasn't great defensively and attack wise, but the midfielders were superb, while under rafa we are more defensive and we attack better

A good question. We would certainly be in the Capital One Cup, be it Rafa or RDM. Also when we talk about the champoins league, all fingers too be pointed at RDM, Rafa did what he could and win the final game which was not enough. We would have been in a better postion in the premier league if RDM was in charge and also would have won the CWC... Lets just cross our fingers and hope tubby can get us a top 4 finsh...

We were already as good as out of CL when RDM was sacked, so that shouldn't even come into the discussion..... As for CWC, based on RDM's performance in community shield, super cup and failing to qualify us from the CL group stage, I think it's safe to say there is a high probability we still would have lost the match with RDM as coach... For the capital one cup, I think we still would have won against Leeds but RDM would have started his usual favoured/best starting XI without ample game time for the likes of Marin, Moses, Azpi and Ferreira.... As for EPL.... hmmmm, it's 50/50, it could have been better, worse or same as now....
Latunvic
@latunvic,exactly ma thoughts,i agree with everybit of your comment....judgin by this article,i would love to ask the author if we would have won the Cl and F.a cup last season if avb was still here??
Ken4CFC
I feel that we would have won it, finishing last season's CL legacy on a high.I also think, in that we would have got back to winning ways sooner than we have under Benitez. But oh well, that's Football, time to put our feelings aside and actually support the manager now.
BlueBlaze
@Latunvic, i was about writing down a long text of my opinion, but after reading your comments, i guess i'd have to say you've said my mind. But then, let me add that Corithians play a sit back and counter kind of game, just like AM,and they have a good defence that could have easily stiffled the MaZarCar combo as obtainable under RDM. The COC was always a given under a relatively upped team moral. Lets tell ourselves the truth, the bridge was uncontrollably crumbling down under Robbie, and it is easy to see that we would of lost against Citeh and possibly had a similar result against Fulham, that is why i think we would have been in the tussle for 4th position. So i think we would have been worse of without the change. I hate the managerial merry go round and worststill the treatment of the legend, but i guess an objective analysis could see that the team looks large now with the adequate utilization of options, only lacking in attacking options. Clubs like Cfc require a coach with massive cojones to make those tough and risky decisions which was apparently and conspicuously missing under RDM. I don't like Rafa as a person,i only want the best for my dear club,if he clear isnt by summer, away he goes.

Last season, robbie's Cl form was opposite of our league form..avb left us in 3rd position trailin the top2 by 15points,robbie got us down to 6th trailin 25points(thats for those comparin the league deficit when robbie left to rafa)...if we tel ourselves the truth our season was already crumblin before our very eyes under robbie, rafa has done nothin but steady the sinkin ship and now we are back on track,so keep your 'ifs' to yourselves till the end of the season then we would assess the situation
Ken4CFC
I wont waste my time on this pontification except to say remember RDM had only one transfer season to work with and the one big ticket signing he requested from Roman and Co (Falcao) he was refused and was given no alternative striker either. He was told to make do with Torres and Danny while Lukaku was shipped out. He asked for Moses instead of Hulk and we can compare where the two players are now. Oscar, and Hazard were board buys. He also had no say in who got shipped out on loan or sold. He was handed a team that was half new with just one player he specifically asked for and with just two strikers one of whom was repeatedly injured and the second whose underperformance is now the stuff of legend. For anyone to put the blame of what then transpired entirely on his shoulders and absolve Roman and his three stooges is laughable to me. It will be interesting to see if come January Roman shows a willingness to spend heavily for an interim coach (Rafa) and ends up buying the very same player (now at a higher price) that he refused to get for a former "permanent manager" (RDM)who is also a club legend as a player and had just won him the holy grail champions league and an FA cup to boot. Let us all wait and see what Rafa achieves in half a season with what may well end up being a significantly better and deeper squad and then we can evaluate just how wise Roman and his three stooges were. Also come summer when the usual summer coaching carousel again turns at Chelsea FC depending on who we end up with then we may well go from frying pan to fire.

1) Yes 1) Yes 2) three-five 3) Same fate and won
ForeverChels
hahaha! @GabeU, u only raised excuses for RDM and didn't answer the questions of the article, anyway, it's all good... I'm not faulting the excuses, they are valid ones, but unfortunately in this business, like most other in the world today, there ain't no excuse for failure.....I just feel if we want to start raising excuses, we can raise a lot for the likes of AVB, Carlo Ancelotti and now Rafa as well. And sometimes we make it look like these coaches are controlled with remote controls or are puppets when we say "he has no say". My stand is, as a coach if you know what u are doing and have a mind of yours u wont accept a job u know u have no influence over and wont work out well, or better still, just resign when u see that you are not given the freedom to do your job the way u deem fit, resign before you get fired and people will respect u for your boldness... And yes, very true, majority of our problems stems from the board....
Latunvic
Our problem isnt Rafa - he's got us playing in a more mature way now with a bigger chance of winning the big games. Something RDM didnt appaear to be managing. We could have and probably should have won against Corinthians....you cant say the same thing for the big games under RDM. Sentiments aside (and even though i wasnt supportive at the time) Roman made the right decision. RA seldom gets these big decisions wrong, please lets give the old boy some credit. The only one he's getting wrong is the FT9 debacle but i really cant blame him too much bcos he did spend 50M on FT and at the time we all thought it was an excellent decision. Hindsight is 20:20 and we all know we should perhaps have invested that money elsewhere. oh well on to the next one...I also dont think Radamel F is the way forward....at the cost...we need to be moving away from these high cost purchases, alright when they work e.g. CR7 but calamitous when they dont Kaka, Sheva, FT9 to name a few
