No New Contract for JT?

With Frank Lampard set to be, if reports are correct, booted out of the door as opposed to being quietly ushered out of it, what about the future of John Terry?

Last weekend rumours were rife that JT was in contract talks that would see his stay extended but today the inference is there that a whole new scenario could be developing.

Our friends over at the Daily Star, are running with the inference that there will be no new contract for JT with the boss man himself, Roman Abramovich, reticent that the manner in which JT, seemingly, failed to back Andre Villas-Boas still angering our Russian owner.

Personally, I wouldn`t be so sure about that, but what are your thoughts?

It could be true. You must not forget that Roman paid 13 million quid to acquire the services of AVB and if the reports are to be true, he was directly involved in the appointment. Personally i'd be gutted to see Terry leave.

just like i said on the Lampard thread, it the JT rumour is also true..then it certainly does confirm that Roman is making his promise of dealing with the players he felt contributed to the demise of AVB....Hmm...i dont support this at all, all i can do is hope that this peice of news is also not true....the AVB case is quite complex in my opinion and AVB not doing well cant be attributed to the senior players...God have mercy!!

Why are u people jumping to believe this piece of crap paper? If ash,JT, and lamp goes then the club will lose a part of its identity, there is no way its gonna happen and roman is not that crazy to sell the soul of the club at a go, a gradual phasing out will be a pleasant approach than this tsunami approach which will have severe repercussions.

It's all about money and negotiations, nothing more.. I personally will love JT and Lampard to stay at least one more year but the problem is, will they accept the club's offer? and lets not forget JT is beginning yo battle with recurring knee injuries which may be a concern for the club...

Both Terry and Lampard earn crazy money that is totally disproportioned to their respective age and level of performance. I am sure they are the ones who reject the club's offer of a short contract at significantly lower wages. Don't make the club look worse than it is.

if we treat our legends this way, believe me that the talks of hazard, moses, and other players leaving for a bigger club in barca and the likes should be encouraged, barca offered puyol, who is half a player JT is, and xavi who we can name in the same breath as lampard a contract extension and we are trying to pawn off our own legends!!!!! Then players won't have any attachment or loyalty to the club whatsoever when they see the way our legends who sweated for the club are treated!! Its SICKENING!!, stop the FFP bull, bcos barca's legendary duo are getting the same salary/wages as ours and I'll rather pay JT and lamps than continue to pay torres 175k for doing nothing spectacular, can torres play with a broken rib for chelsea? No he can't as he doesn't care if we are losing or winning as per his own admission, where u see terry come back from the hospital to celebrate with his team mates in that cup game where he was stretchered off, can fernando score the goals lampard score for chelsea? Can he ever be immense as lampard in high profile games? I don't think so, *i am not slatting torres this time, the point I am trying to prove is since we are paying an average player like torres the highest salary at chelseafc when club servants are earning less and are being eased off

I dont believe that crap, the media would always have their way of twistin and turnin stories to suit their audience not withstandin the negative implication it would have on the character(s) involved..JT contract is up by 2014 so there is stil enough time to negotiate,am not disturbed one bit i would rather wait til then

@Desmondadonis would you have us pay Terry and Lampard the same as Torres for another 3 or 4 years? From a financial standpoint would be a worse decision than signing Torres especially with FFP. We are not in the same league as Barca they generate twice as much revenue as we do and since we cant rely on Romans money without falling foul of FFP it means the club will have to make cuts somewhere and frankly the money we save from axing the legends outweighs the so called leadership skills we are supposedly keeping them for.

It goes both ways. The ''legends'' love the club but don't want to take a pay cut. Just as they are entitled to hold on to their demands of high salary and regular game time, the club is also entitled to make prudent financial decisions, which is to ask them to take a pay cut to suit their bit part role or show them the door to bring in young hungry players. Players saying they love the club and the fans but not reciprocating it by taking a pay cut and then crying infront of the media is nothing but pressure tactic by the players involved.

david trezeguet...pavel nedved...del piero....those are club legends...when juve needed them...they came through for the their financial detriment. terry once threatened to leave so he can get that contract he was sniffing around and only after the fat contract did he come out and say he was chelsea through and through...he makes more than mata and ramires for me...while it will be sad to lose him...if he wants more than we can give and he doesn't relent...we'll thank him...heck build him a statue...but we will move on...

JT is the oldest servant of the club, and he earns how much? 155k? A player that have been injured so many times whilst playing for chelsea and have saved our bacon numerous times, the only time he put the club in jeopardy on the pitch is the barca game where he got redcarded stupidly, now if we want to sell JT off because of his wages, won't it be fair to sell torres too? Since we are wary of FFP, then why keep torres in our squad for doing next to nothing and try to sell a player that is 100 times more committed than the highest paid flop in world football? So I think it will be very professional and unbiased if torres is sold, john terry, ashley cole, lampard and malouda all bcos of their wages and mata should be left with his current salary as we are planning for FFP. That would be professional and ideal

It is really sick to see fans slating the club for not giving contract extensions. Chelsea as a club will not be fools, they would have definitely keep them if they accept 1yr rolling contract with low wages. But the so called legends, are they ready for it. They need one last big deal with same salary they are getting. Looks like they are interested in money rather than serving the club. But again, check the same fans posts when these legends have a bad day in office and we lose a match.....No wonder, we are the most spoilt fans in the world.

I think terry will not be given new contract. He will free to choose his path once his contract end in next summer. Maybe they will give him some role in academy, where he can start his managerial career.

Guys, it is time to move. Dont compare Puyol with Terry or Xavi with Lampard. Even kids can see that they are much better than our legends. Lampard, Terry can perform at a high level maybe one in 4matches. They need to know that they are no more starters and they will utilised only in few matches. But, if they keep giving bull ***** interviews on how they can help win, play all matches, it affects the team morale and undermine the manager. I dont think Roman will allow that. This could be the main reason for not renewing their contract on their terms.

@desmond... i can understand terry better than puyol.. but lamps in similar breath of xavi??? r u joking??? i and we love lampard and what he has done for the club.. but dont let your love be a blind love. xavi i the man who us still keeping fabregas out of starting XI and let alone xavi, but can lampard keep even fabregas out of starting XI if he was at chelsea?? look at match day moment and you will get the answer. i fully respect lamps and specially JT. but dont compare our club with any other club. every club has its own financial problems and solutions. i am not slating u at all. i respect your emotional point of view. and also take into account that xavi and puyol would always what club would want them to do and not the other way around like at CFC. so i guess you could understand what i want to say. i dont know why, but i feel we need JT more than lampard.

Jokes aside, I think JT will be offered some background staff deal but not anything more than 1 year playing. The club policy is younger, faster and smarter players, something which has begun evaporating from the JT's and Lamps'. As for the AVB inference, it wasn't so much AVB failures but the players reactions to him that surely left a bitter taste in Romans mouth, it was Roman after all who hired AVB personally so this was a bitter pill to swallow. I'm just glad once JT and Lamps have either left or stopped playing and influencing the team affairs we won't have player power and all this "Mr Chelsea" crap talk we hear. Mata's been a revelation and I never hear him gripe about anything in the Media :)

@Mq, I don't understand this implication that JT & Lamps have somehow been a bad influence. They, along with Drogba, have been the heartbeat of the club during one of the most successful decades any English club has ever had. They believed AVB, at Roman's behest, was trying to change things too quickly, and an FA Cup & Champions League would indicate they were correct. The current players may yet win the Premier League in the next couple of years but until they do they cannot be held in the same class as the Chelsea team from 04-12.

The club should state what they are prepared to offer Cole, Lamard and Terry to stay, no doubt at reduced wages. If the players turn down the opportunity to stay under those terms, then and only then can we decide who is being fair or not.
