No New Contract for JT?

No New Contract for JT?

With Frank Lampard set to be, if reports are correct, booted out of the door as opposed to being quietly ushered out of it, what about the future of John Terry?

Last weekend rumours were rife that JT was in contract talks that would see his stay extended but today the inference is there that a whole new scenario could be developing.

Our friends over at the Daily Star, are running with the inference that there will be no new contract for JT with the boss man himself, Roman Abramovich, reticent that the manner in which JT, seemingly, failed to back Andre Villas-Boas still angering our Russian owner.

Personally, I wouldn`t be so sure about that, but what are your thoughts?

It could be true. You must not forget that Roman paid 13 million quid to acquire the services of AVB and if the reports are to be true, he was directly involved in the appointment. Personally i'd be gutted to see Terry leave.

just like i said on the Lampard thread, it the JT rumour is also true..then it certainly does confirm that Roman is making his promise of dealing with the players he felt contributed to the demise of AVB....Hmm...i dont support this at all, all i can do is hope that this peice of news is also not true....the AVB case is quite complex in my opinion and AVB not doing well cant be attributed to the senior players...God have mercy!!

Why are u people jumping to believe this piece of crap paper? If ash,JT, and lamp goes then the club will lose a part of its identity, there is no way its gonna happen and roman is not that crazy to sell the soul of the club at a go, a gradual phasing out will be a pleasant approach than this tsunami approach which will have severe repercussions.

It's all about money and negotiations, nothing more.. I personally will love JT and Lampard to stay at least one more year but the problem is, will they accept the club's offer? and lets not forget JT is beginning yo battle with recurring knee injuries which may be a concern for the club...

Both Terry and Lampard earn crazy money that is totally disproportioned to their respective age and level of performance. I am sure they are the ones who reject the club's offer of a short contract at significantly lower wages. Don't make the club look worse than it is.

I feel we still need the experience of JT. He should be offered a new contract

if we treat our legends this way, believe me that the talks of hazard, moses, and other players leaving for a bigger club in barca and the likes should be encouraged, barca offered puyol, who is half a player JT is, and xavi who we can name in the same breath as lampard a contract extension and we are trying to pawn off our own legends!!!!! Then players won't have any attachment or loyalty to the club whatsoever when they see the way our legends who sweated for the club are treated!! Its SICKENING!!, stop the FFP bull, bcos barca's legendary duo are getting the same salary/wages as ours and I'll rather pay JT and lamps than continue to pay torres 175k for doing nothing spectacular, can torres play with a broken rib for chelsea? No he can't as he doesn't care if we are losing or winning as per his own admission, where u see terry come back from the hospital to celebrate with his team mates in that cup game where he was stretchered off, can fernando score the goals lampard score for chelsea? Can he ever be immense as lampard in high profile games? I don't think so, *i am not slatting torres this time, the point I am trying to prove is since we are paying an average player like torres the highest salary at chelseafc when club servants are earning less and are being eased off

at least they should give them a contract with low salary & no assurance of permanent spot in the starting eleven & see would they accept the offer or not ! these actions damaging our reputation !

I dont believe that crap, the media would always have their way of twistin and turnin stories to suit their audience not withstandin the negative implication it would have on the character(s) involved..JT contract is up by 2014 so there is stil enough time to negotiate,am not disturbed one bit i would rather wait til then

Interesting times..time will tell if there is truth to this but with Roman i have come to learn that anything essentially is possible.

@Desmondadonis would you have us pay Terry and Lampard the same as Torres for another 3 or 4 years? From a financial standpoint would be a worse decision than signing Torres especially with FFP. We are not in the same league as Barca they generate twice as much revenue as we do and since we cant rely on Romans money without falling foul of FFP it means the club will have to make cuts somewhere and frankly the money we save from axing the legends outweighs the so called leadership skills we are supposedly keeping them for.

It goes both ways. The ''legends'' love the club but don't want to take a pay cut. Just as they are entitled to hold on to their demands of high salary and regular game time, the club is also entitled to make prudent financial decisions, which is to ask them to take a pay cut to suit their bit part role or show them the door to bring in young hungry players. Players saying they love the club and the fans but not reciprocating it by taking a pay cut and then crying infront of the media is nothing but pressure tactic by the players involved.
