'If It's Football, It's Vital'

One People

Now, this is not an article about Chelsea FC, but it is about us, I mean VC members.

I have been here for some few months and I like the way the site is being run, I will like to say a Big Thank You to Uncle Merlin for dedicating his time here. I say God Richly Bless You (not forgetting your back room staffs too)

Now to you the members here, you guys are wonderful people, I love the way you make this site exciting, in fact of all fan base sites that I have visited, VC remains the best and it's all because of you guys. I say Thank You and God Bless You All but I have a problem!

Sometimes the words and language that we use here are inappropriate, I know we are all human-beings and we get annoyed with some comments here but we all have to try and control ourselves and try not to let our emotions over control us, all of us here love Chelsea FC at heart and that's why we are all here, but the way some VC members use abusive words and language towards another member is very bad. I would want each and every member that has one way or the other used an abusive word or language towards another person to apologize to the person here right now (I would appreciate it if you name the person you know you have abused).

We are about to enter into a new year and I want us to enter into it as 'One People` and hope for the best in the new year.

I WISH YOU ALL A HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR.

I work in the academic world (research) and the truth is most times intelligent arguments are actually the engine for generating new ideas and creating unique perspectives.. the site is a lot more interesting with intelligent arguments and perspectives (somtimes conflicting) flying everywhere..What i think we can all improve upon is our choice of language which i understand is somtimes difficult especially when we get our emotions involved...But if we all desire to respect other forum members irrespective of colour, nationality or percieved level of intelligence, then that will be a good place to start. Lets make no mistake though, VC is one of the best (if not the best) chelsea forum around, as far as i know..

I hate to compare but has anyone ever been to We Ain't Got No History? If you have then you'd know what respect and respectability means in an organised community. We should learn, sometimes this place seems like Syria! If we are all supporters of the same beautiful club we love with all our hearts, then why shouldn't we respect one another? These days I only read articles and comments on VC (most times with a shake of the head when I go through the comments section) and 'quietly' leave before someone decides to pump a round of a sub-machine gun into my frail body. We don't have to agree with everyone's view but we don't have to talk to people like they were low level animals and not humans like us.

I agree with the sentiments the author has expressed. One can disagree without being disagreeable but unfortunately that seems impossible for some of us. It is a free world however and this is an internet based forum. Appeals of this type have been made several times before but all we can do is hope that each of us remember to try and be civil..it cannot be legislated.

No matter how hard u try mate, there are some stuffs u can't just take, I agree that we go out of line and turn some articles into a showpiece of expletives, but I think we all need to do is try as much as possible to be sociable, to the person citing we aint got no history as an example, its a good site and I go there to to drop comments when I can, the difference from here Is that the moment u are out of line, schmidt or kelvin asks u to apologize or stop ur expletives, so I think merlin can do just that when he is free

I also agree to a certain extent with the writer. Some people seem to enjoy talking other fans down, thrashing their comments just for the sake of it. But you yourself don't become important by making others feel less important. Sure, banter, tongue in cheek, all that, and you shouldn't censor your own freedom of speech just because someone may be easily offended, but some rantings are simply rude and not constructive, and as the Pride of London and epitomizer of all things English, we should always display a classy, dignified and tactful approach to criticising our fellow fans, even when they're wrong.

Ppl often get angry about what they perceive people to think rather than what they have said or think. very broadly speaking there are two camps on this forum. Group 1, which I will call the traditionalists are huge fans of FL & JT, speak often of the worthiness of people in relation to the club and put these notions of loyalty and pride above everything. Group 2 whom I will call the revisionists tend to despise FL & JT, and see results as everything. They view the notions of pride and loyalty as a problem that provents our club reaching its potential. Imo the revisionists view the traditionalists as a bunch of former hooligans whose talk of club loyalty and pride are just a presentable form of their core racist beliefs. They see the placement of players such as FL & JT as proof of this, and this is why it causes such an agressive reaction. The traditionalists see the revisionists as a bunch of fair weather fans who know nothing of what it is to be a supporter, whose every comment is an insult to the history of the club and to the proud tradition of Chelsea.
londonfc
I think when there is an article praising FL, the two camps are really arguing against what they perceive the other to be thinking rather than what they have actually said.
londonfc
People should be respectful and civil no doubt but that part about apologizing to that said person right here right now struck me as ludicrous lol. Anyways, here's to our boys smashing QPR tomorrow!
ForeverChels
Nice points..... and good points from @londonfc too... I think whatever the case is, we should be able to debate or argue without resorting to abuses.... some people can't comment here without using words like idiot, fool, f-word, etc...

Happy New Year Chelsea mates, long live the diverse ideologies on VC ;)
@Mq
I keep sayin these, the most controversial or do i say the topic that raises names-callin among we fans in VC is when a/some certain player(s) topics is/are being raised to be critize or praised especially these three players MIKEL, LAMPARD & TORRES (though the later dont generate controversy as in before cus even his haters & admirers are comin to agreement about him being a flop). One thing i notice in these forum is we show favouritism to our favourite player than to our club. We cant stand someone castigatin or sayin bad about our favourite player & also we seems to consider nationality in choosin our favourite player. Just for an instance, an english guy here 'll lik to defend lampard, while a spanish guy 'll defend torres, & likewise a nigerian 'll defend mikel. (Just using these three players as a case study). These brings divided opinions & before you knw it, all sorts of nasty words 'll be vomitted...

Sorry for the double posts

@prince good point, I'm American so I'm an equal opportunity basher when it is warranted and the first to offer praise to any of the boys. Nationality does not matter to me, I view all the lads as one unit and opinions should be based on their performances not their race. I love Obi just as much as Frank and so on and so forth. But like you said, the club comes first, at least to me anyways. Sentimentality should be thrown at the window when we focus on what is best for the club. That said, this is one of the finest forums out there. Most are heavily biased and moderated. Merlin does a wonderful job of giving us just enough rope, if you know what I mean..
ForeverChels
nice point londonfc & prince china...thats the real stuff happens here...
shlok27
There are some things u cant change u just have to live with it,appeals have been made in the past but its unfortunately it held no water, many here cant have a debate without insults pourin in..thats the kind of world we live in.and i dont think anyone is ready to tender an apology right here mate..nice try though
Ken4CFC
sometimes the policing on these forums can be a little over the top to say the least. i got a warning from WAGNH. i didn't know what it was for and when i enquired i was told it was because i started a post with "how silly of some people on here" how insulting was that? i informed them that i would not be contributing any further posts as i considered this to be a bit too politically correct and that finished me with them. this forum is miles ahead in that context. but hey this is the real world and (most of us) are mature people acting like we would in everyday life. a bit of bad language doesn't scare me off.
