'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Not as Far Fetched As It Seems!

When Ray Wilkins inferred that Manchester United may make an offer to Frank Lampard when his contract expires in the summer, he may have only been telling half the story.

One news source is now inferring that the 71 year-old Glaswegian could be set to make a double-swoop come the end of the season, not only netting Frank Lampard but also his team-mate Ashley Cole.

Now doesn`t that kind of sum up what carnage we may be about to reap upon ourselves when the boss of one of our biggest rivals can gauge what the duo have still to offer but we blindly adhere to an over 30 years of age policy irrespective of the damage it could cause us!

For a man that swooped for a 29 year old glassy legged van persie, I won't put it past him, as I am sure it will be benefitial for them as RVP was, but truth be told, I don't think this guys would go to man utd, not that they won't like to, bcos it'll make them competitive at the highest level, but I think their love for the fans would make them think twice about it, though anything can happen in football, who knows, but if it sure happens, its manures gain and our loss
Desmondadonis
Wouldn't put it past Cole but I think Lamps won't move north.
Seabourch
C-Ashely can go to Man U, look at the way he came to us...
Ikdaniels
We ought to hold on to Ashley if we can or sell abroad , definitely not to Manure
Blue_Mel
i totally understand if cole go , what i cant understand is our own fans still calling him a fecking cashley while the man help us big time in his years at chelsea . he was and still arguably the best left back in the world but we mocking him because earning his high deserved paycheck.
JackSufre
Well, SAF is also only willing to offer a one year rolling contract which for now nothing has been said about the salary. Some people claim they've not been offered anything at all by CFC, if that is true, why CFC will do that is what I don't understand.... Jason Cundy and a guest on ChelseaTV commented that no one knows the truth about the Lampard contract situation and that all we here are rumours and speculations... They said there is no confirmation to the suggestion that CFC have not offered him anything at all...
Latunvic
Just cant wait to see how this whole scenario plays out,if frank and cole moves to manure hope its not gonna be pirlo-esque 2.0

they cant afford lampard n cole's wages.. they cant compete against likes of PSG !!! sorry not happening !!
slash_blue
i dont think they wont go to manu....US or psg will be the next destination for both of them..
shlok27
i understand where the club is coming from with only offering players over a certain age rolling one year deals,and i think the players should also prefer these as then they got there year but if a huge offer does come up from another club say in the usa,china or the middle east then they have no worries about not leaving with a fee or years left on there deals. on thing i think is right which might hold up contrcts is players like lampard and cole taking a pay cut to stay,cole less as he would probably still be our first choice left back next season whereas lampard will be more used as a sub.
Dave-David
Hopefully it's rubbish conjecture if not, I wish the Mayans were right.
ForeverChels
On the flip side, I commend the club to sticking to its guns an not budging on their policy. But, I am more in favor of a performance based contract whereby if you are given a contract of 3 years, the contract can be increased (rewarded) or reduced based on your current form - injuries not to affect this. How this would work I don't know, is it feasible not a fecking clue but somehow if the club can figure something like this out then they won't lose face by abolishing the 30+ rule. Interesting to think about though rather than you're 30!... gruff gruff gruff here's a one year rolling contract gruff gruff. Seems rather unintelligent to me as players are different at that age (e.g. A player at 30 who has been injury plagued vs one who hasn't). My two cents
ForeverChels
After he's been crocked for more than 2 months and we give him more than a year, it would be ludicrous really because who knows what will happen thereafter, he could be injured again and we'll be back here criticizing the board for lack of foresight
@Mq
I'm with the board on this 1, if Lamps wants to stay then he abides by our rules, salary included. If not then he can gladly leave, we'll find another Mata and Oscar who will earn less money but play WAY BETTER football
@Mq
@MQ your are a disgrace to continue such a lopsided anti Lampard victimisation campaign. Call yourself a chelsea fan? this is a player who's delivered season in and season out. A legend in some's parlance. Next you're be supporting Benitez and Torres..... Where are you from/live? Mid-Qatar? how many thjousands of clicks from the bridge?
Pantisocrates
clicks = kilometers @Mq just fyi
ForeverChels
Just go wherever you want Lampard and Cole, a place where people know how to value your dedicated works. You are not recognised here, as the likes of mq, shlok, foreign viewer etc convinced that you are not worth the penny you earned week in week out.
Gaban
spot on Latunvic...SAF also planning to offer 1yr contract to both of them...If they choose that, it shows how great these legends are....
Blu_run
I am sure chelsea will offer them a 1yr rolling contract in the summer...But now, it wont, bcos, chelsea offering them a chance to hook a lucrative deal outside england...If they dont get it, then they will stay at chelsea on chelsea's terms...siimple....
Blu_run
Let us allow them to discuss terms with SAF...they will come to know their true value and they will stay with chelsea itself...
Blu_run
Dont compare RVP situation with these 2 people...RVP had a outstanding season last yr...single handedly dragged arsenal to 3rd place...cole & lampard at max, can fetch us 3 points single handedly in 1 out of 10 matches...
Blu_run
@blu_run, well we aint winning when cole,lampard and terry were out in november and not in the team, infact we are rather pathethic and play without any urgency or passion, we played like amateurs
Desmondadonis
why after he plays one good match there is so much discussion about his contract issue....where was it when we played against athmadrid,corinthians....if lamps defentky wants to end his career at chelsea then why cant he accept the club policy....he can talk about his contrat issue in media then why dont he come out and say he is willing to take a massive pay cut to stay at chelsea and is willing to go by club one year policy....why he is talking rubbish in the media that the club has told him to find new club...if he can talk abiut that stuff than why not this...i honestly think there is something murky going behind the scene...thats why chelsea has not give him a contract till now....his representative are using his legend status at chelsea as a tool to extract a big contract from chelsea...
shlok27
Has he been offered a contract or not?? No one knows..we would know the truth very soon
Ken4CFC
I disagree that our November slump was down to the absence of some senior players. The low team performance in that period of the year has become a reoccuring decimal in Cfc that needs to be looked into to avert a continuation of that state of affairs. About the subject matter,we shouldnt be afraid of any player leaving us,moreso joining our RIVALS...it should be a question of player loyalty which the players alone should be concerned about. Lets stop getting pathetic,being afraid of LEGENDS leaving us, like we dont know the circumstance surrounding Cole's arrival. In as much as i acknowledge their efforts and contribution to club,i refuse to get inordinately nostalgic. I look forward to development of new LEGENDS and a favourable transition of the squad. The older players if driven by loyalty to the club that took them to the apogee of football excitement and laurels can stay if they want to,and that is at the clubs terms. If they have other ideas,life goes on.

Boy am I glad some VC members aren't on the Chelsea board, we'd be AC MiLan by now judging by their actions/suggestions. Gladly Roman and the board aren't swayed by a fe decent performances, none of which warrant anything more than or even close to 100K/week
@Mq
We already have 1 overpaid "sporadic performer" which is 1 lore than enough if you ask me, no room for another regardless of "stature" (in certain ppls eyes)
@Mq
Top club are keeping their veterans and there is a reason for that, if chelsea keep JT, cole and lamps for one season more it will be good for the club, november slump was really pathetic and it shows that this people who we want to make as the new legends are not ready, they aren't seasoned, and we have to becareful so there won't be any backlash from the fans, we stating our opinions here are the minors, the fan that matters to roman are the ones that spend so much to go see chelsea season after season as part of their tradition feels otherwise, see the chelsea game today and see how lamps reception is when he plays to see what I mean. Even roman will be careful this time and can only pull it off when he has feasible plan B
Desmondadonis
Roman is no fool. He will get rid of Lampard and Torres.
foreign_viewer
Everything will be sort right in time for chelsea to move on since no matter how good a player is, when the time to move comes, they just have to move.
