The defense and midfield remains almost the same (bertrand for cole aside) so we are only hoping the new midfield 3 are potent enough. If you mess up with midfield and defense you run the risk of losing games. We may find it hard to break them down early on, but hazard and mata coming on with 20 minutes on against tired players is ok.

A little disappointed. We dont look like we will concede, but i thought playing marin right and moses left was a bit wrong, marin left and moses right is how we finished the half and we shoudl continue that way till the 60th minute at least, when subs should be made. Hopefully the last time we will have to see torres only up front - we will most likely have an option 'ba' then

There is a recent poll that shows that the top DM in the premiership that has Most passes backwards - : Yaya Toure (Manchester City) 488, Mikel Arteta (Arsenal) 486, James McCarthy (Wigan) 413. A bulk of them are DMs. They are the first point of attacks and if there isn't any CAM,CM to collect from them, they either take it back for restart.

Luiz is doing unnecessary long range passes because the person who is supposed to help him when he has the ball is always looking for a rebound when Luiz has the ball. Lampard does not know his main job on the field is to build attack, when they give him the ball he gives it back and idly run to the opposition expecting his teammates to create for him.

@foreigh_viewer, Luiz and Ivanovic were trying long shots because they so frustrated every time they had the ball. when u r playing with 2 pivots it should not be a problem to find someone to pass the ball to, but with Lampard that is not the case as he stands and spreads his arms or run to look for a strike or rebound. I am not saying Lampard should take his chances, but he needs to contribute to the build up first and should not abandon the ball with the defenders and run away.

Arry set up his team well and exploited our weakness which is lack of a forward. I guess nothing more than Chelsea deserve. The majority of Chelsea fans think they deserve success all the time and the way to fix any problem is to spend, spend, spend. Cotinued success comes from having stability at a football club and sticking to a certain principle and sticking to it. I'm not saying that RDM shouldn't have been sacked- I actually thought it was the correct decision but the constant merry go round which is Chelsea Football Club makes doesn't help at all. What also doesn't help is the reaction of some thick fans on here. Rafa made a gamble tonight by resting Hazard, Mata and Ramires and it didn't pay off. Lampard, Luiz and Oscar didn't move the ball quick enough and Torres looked ridiculously poor. You can all point the finger at Rafa for the changes made but the buck stops at some of the players out there today. That really was a tame and unacceptable performance- one which isn't good enough for a club like Chelsea. Bertrand isn't good enough, Luiz is an average defender and an average midfielder, Torres is abysmal, Oscar is overrated and Marin and Moses both have poor final delivery/decision making. The only real world class players Chelsea have are Mata and Hazard and without them they look slow, pedestrian and uninventive. I find it absolutely ridiculous that Rafa, RDM and even AVB don't/didn't have much of a say into who signs for the Football club. How can a Manager build something at a club when who plays for them is dictated by a man with a big wallet badly advised by other suits at the club. We let Drogba go without replacing him, we placed all our hope on a finished Torres who had Zero confidence. He could not get us out of difficult situations in games against Swansea, Liverpool, Westham, United, QpR e.t.c... He could not score in important games that led to our shocking elimination from UCL, he had numerous chances to put us ahead in the CWC but wasted those chances until they scored. He is on 15 goals now but he should be on 30 goals by now considering the goal scoring oppurtunities and game time he has enjoyed this season. His positioning is poor, his shots are light, he cant even keep the ball. He looks to me like the poorest CF in England. We play like 10 men when he is on the pitch, his assists have dried up, he cant even get the ball past an opponent, he has lost all his pacem strength and element of surprise. BA WILL BE RUBBING HIS HANDS. City and United also conceed **** goals but the difference is they have Strikers that will do something special and win games for them even when they play bad. I know it isn't nice to hear it but the worst thing about your club is the fact you just spend, spend, spend and then think you have the divine right to win all the time because you've spent. I much prefer a proper Football Club like Dortmund who have a stable board and manager and a style of play which has taken years to create and implement. In his first two seasons klopp finished 6th and 5th and look what he's done now. As long as Chelsea continue to chop and change Managers the same problems will emerge year after year. Roman needs to be patient and stop thinking about instant success and so do the fans. You've signed some good young players and they need continuity in management to gel them as a team in the next 2-3 years. Who cares if Chelsea don't win the league or any trophy this year. Building a football team takes time. You will qualify for the Champions League and thats really all that matters- well money wise that is.

I am totally P****d off. 1) Rafa: Trusted Marin, Moses, Oscar, Lampard, Torres & Luiz to do the job, Rafa has learnt the lesson. Even Rafa made the changes BUT this Chelsea team should have beaten QPR FFS. 2) Mata: IMO Chelsea are 1 man team MATA. 3) Pivot: Lampard & Luiz were taking 3 hours to switch the play from left to right or vice versa. Lampard was constantly going forward so Oscar had to drop back to cover Lamps place that was the reason Iva was shooting from distance. 4) BUILD UP PLAY: OUR build up play was so slow WITH NO MOVEMENT UPFRONT 5) We were trying to pass the ball into the net. 6) Torres: ADEL was HOLDING the ball better than Torres. 7) PARKED BUS: QPR parked the bus, we needed one touch football from our players, lots of movement upfront, one twos, use the width, put lots of crosses in. 8) Moses was man marked.

I have watched the game now and believe that tactically we were poor. QPR parked the bus and this was the right game to have Mazacar. Also I do not think Marin played that badly as sommay want to point out. This gae was not meant for a striker like Torres wholikes space because QPR jus crowded all the space he could run into and they should have taken him off and put Moses in th middle.I would have left Marin on the left, Hazard on the right and have Mata play behind Moses. Take out Lamps and have Oscar help in the pivot. This would have created the chance to play one touch fooball or touch and move more like te second half against Villa. Thats what you need against a team that parks the bus. Ivanovic was moving into midfield a lot because QPR were just sitting back. Rafa got it wrong in thi game. Marin has the potential to make a difference - just hope h will get more chances. If I was him I would be disturbed after that tackle five minutes into my first start. He was too axious toimpress and looked a bit more settled when they took him off - maybe due tohis yellow card.

I was in meetings at work all day and so missed watching the match live. I guess i did not miss much. I have learnt the hard way to always expect the worst with Chelsea FC but even i did not see this coming..i had thought a draw at the very worst. Well let me first say..those blaming this on Rafa please take a step back and look at his starting line up..seriously if that line up cannot comfortably beat a really poor QPR team that is bottom of the BPL then we have problems. The reason Rafa had to rotate the squad is obvious..come saturday we have a one of FA cup game against a south Hampton side that just drew the Gunners. The blame here is squarely on the players themselves and our board of three amigos and Roman who built this bizzare team that has no striker of any repute. Today demonstrated what i had been telling guys who had this pipe dreams of us challenging for the euopa league and challenging for the BPL..i always said it that we did not have the depth..once we go past mazacar in midfield with emphasis on mata there is not much quality beyond that, once we go past cech we are in trouble in goal, once we go past Miikel we really dont even have any other true DM right now and until Demba Ba laces it up for us we dont even have one striker ..that is how thin this squad this. Despite this the decision makers refuse to recall what talent we have out there on loan. While i am a fan i am a realist first..i said it from the get go..our singular goal now that we are out of the champions league is that we ensure we get back into it for next year..that means a top 4 finish is paramount even if it has to be at the expense of all the other available trophies..we dont have the squad depth to compete on multiple fronts and this pipe dream of competing for the BPL title is just that..a pipe dream ..not when we are talking of two Manchester sides with multiple heavy weight goal scoring options compared to our one (Ba)..i dont even bother counting el nino as a veritable goal scoring threat.

I agree with BlueFortune...Either put Oscar in the pivot or recall Josh McEachran and get him in the pivot...SOMEONE needs to be able to pass the ball. I love Lampard but he is NOT a pivot player...If I were Lampard I would be embarrassed to be the captain of the team that lost to the worst team in the league....RAFA if your not going to play a 4-3-3 then DONT play Lampard...

Latunvic hit the nail there when he said Mata is the most important player in our squad ( Cech too), some of the matches that we play without him, you can see the way we attack is awful, no penetration, no one wants to take the responsibility, this guy scores goal, assist and does everything basically in our attack. Marin was awful ( well considering it's his 1st or 2nd epl start? ) i can understand, Torres was extremely poor, can't even score in important matches and important games like this, Moses and Luiz was horrible, Oscar best position i think is from deep midfield ( saw him play in Brazil shirt where he play from that position), and we all know the day Cech injured is the day we're gonna be *****ed, and how true was that, did you see the awful positioning Turnbull make there, overall, we shouldn't have ever lose this kind of important games. Hope the Ba deal goes through and we get another striker, and also a player in midfield, oh and a back up keeper and we are set to go

I think for now, we should play Mata in every game if we intend to win.... Manutd can rely on any of RVP, Rooney and Hernandez to make things happen, their attack is their strength.... Liverpool plays almost every game with Suarez as he's their reliable game changer... our's for now is Mata, so I'll suggest we play him in every game... I think Marin is a wrong investment, the problem I had with the purchase of Moses is the fact he's not a game changer, he's not one who can make things happen, all our forward players are just to ordinary and passive.... We may have to be patient for a year or two before we can expect consistent good performances from this group of players.... We need to get a back up for Ba cos I dont count Torres as our striker...

I agree a top 4 finish is our only hope now... It seems we need about 3 to 4 new signings to even make the top 4.. We obviously can make all the amends now. I think our defensive midfield and defense are still manageable till the end of season, our major downside is the attacking midfield and attack. I'll suggest we sign 2 more players and my picks are Moutinho and anyone of Walcott/Bony/Schurrle....

Lol, I slept well last night, I am happy. Now the board and Rafa can clearly see Lamps can be decieving, Luiz is not a pivot player, Marin's injuries are killing him(we should accept the offer from Bayer and get Schurlle), Oscar is better in the Pivot he would have done better than Lamps alongside Luiz. Ba will be a great signing but he will play too many games if we dont get a player to share the games with him cos Torres is finished.

Everytime we lose,the blame game begins,pining the blame on certain players or the manager is totally wrong. I agree that rotation sometime doesn't help team play and understanding,but QPR wasn't our opponent yesterday,complacency was. Complacency from the manager,players and fans included. The supporr at the bridge was annoying to say the least,the performance by the players was *****,and the timing of the subs was a bit too late to change things. My greatest fear now is how ***** we are without Mata and Hazard on the pitch,Mata's creativity was greatly missed to split the QPR defence. The Europa League hasn't even started yet and our squad depth is being tested immensely.

Rafa is not just a fool he is mad for loosing this game. A PL game no mata the opposition is not the best to rest your key players more so when we have couple of winnable game in FAcup and C1cup next. Every team have a spine for CFC right now its mata,when fit he should start every game just as Rooney will start for manu anytime if fit and its in the best interest of the team to let Lampard go ASAP.

And for torres, there's nothing more to be said about him, i think he'd be better off as a carpenter or model, not football. We are in a situation where we lack alternatives upfront and at the back. We should have acted on this issue in the summer because soon all our title charges are at an end. Turnbull had a good game and he wasn't at fault for the goal. It must be stressed that he wasn't much tested. I don't have much trust in him and we shouldn't have any weak links in the squad. Are Demba Ba and his knees deciding our season? Hmm...

You all saying Marko Marin did not do anything are just plain foolish I'm sorry to say, what game were you lot seeing, most the analysis here are bogus, Luiz did not receive any help from Lampard defensively, i thought the back line did well, Ceaser, Cahil, Ivanovic and Bertrand. Oscar too played great, Moses didn't do too well and Lampard didn't track back regularly. Torres shouldn't even be mentioned these days as we tend to play with 10 Men now. Substitution wise, i felt Rafa should have left Marin on a little bit longer, withdrawn Moses for Hazard, taken off Lampard for Mata and dropped Oscar to pair with Luiz in the pivot. These changes could have helped our course greatly, Marin made the best chances in that game, his perfect cross after a delightful shimmy to remove the defender from the equation, a cross that Moses should have buried. Marin's crosses were pin point if only we had a real striker instead of a blonde headed scarecrow. I applaud Rafa for his squad rotation policy and hope he continues with it, as this would increase the confidence of all our players including Ross Turnbull. We should learn how to play without MaZaCar all the Gaddem time.

Bleedbluestl I agree with you 100 starting 11 was fine, the subs were...but the guys lacked heart on so many levels...Torres is a cancer that's killing the whole team...if he was lethal then Marin would have passed to him instead of Oscar when he collected the ball in QPR's half and hit them on a counter...a season ago we would pass Drogba whenever we could even when he was in tight situations cause we knew he would make something of it...If your team mates can't trust you with the ball then you must know something is off...Marin was very erratic only cause he is so eager to please but when was playing his game, he had QPR in 6's and 7's...I see a team with Hazard and Marin on at the same time as dangerous as ribery and robben...we just need a gomez up there, I pray Ba can be that...

Since Michael Ballack departed this club, we've continued to lose midfield battles against the big boys and any Tom Dick and Harry midfield who know how to sit back or press intelligently. We've also continuously struggled in the Premier League. This is the 3rd season now since his departure and we are what? 13 points behind Man U...We don't even look close to closing the gap between us and them. Since Drogba's departure, we've needed miracles to beat the big boys. Yesterday was shocking. We were slow, lethargic and build up was just nonsense. Blaming Luiz and Lampard is just myopic. They are 2 midfielders who don't fit the pivot. I am also glad this Luiz in the Pivot has been tested because it will once and for all KILL ALL THIS LUIZ IN THE CENTRAL MIDFIELD TALK. He can't pass; can't tackle and is just running around confusing himself and Lampard. Expecting the players we had on the pitch yesterday to beat QPR just because it is QPR is the arrogance and complacency nelyvanile is speaking of. How about the simple fact that QPR was balanced and we weren't???? Plus they took their chances while we had minus 1 upfront. The mistake we are making is to assume Demba Ba will be enough, but we need more than Demba. At least 1 scorer upfront and most importantly a CENTRAL MIDFIELDER THAT UNDERSTANDS PASSING, SETTING TEMPO AND CAN DEFEND. David Luiz and Oscar are NOT IT. Oscar is more of a Kaka type midfielder (scorers) than a playmaker. Milan Badelj WAS AVAILABLE AND we let the fella move to Hamburg where he's been sensational.

myself and some other folks with good insights have said Luiz in midfield will require a slow and steady easing in process, I still believe Luiz can play in the midfield maybe not DM more like a box2box to me...i dont see Luiz developing that discipline to play in the DM role majorly bcos he is an iimpulsive player which could be a positive for other positions on the pitch but not the DM...I think Tubby is taking the Luiz experiment a bit too far and too fast...Luiz cant have learnt the art of playing in midfield after just a handful of games...like @Kaku said..we dont need to delude ourselves, we need a ball playing deep lying playmaker who can also do a job defensively asap...a player in the mould of Arteta...,I hope the club do not gamble about it...this Luiz experiment should hit a pause now...we cant afford to gamble and not make top 4...its just too important for the club....in a different story, news going around has it that Pep has decided where he'll go next summer and its not chelsea...popular rumour is Mancity...so who will be in charge next year?..hell knows we need to stop this manager merigoround so that our youths can have a chance...and we can have some stability...i am getting fed up already

I can now see that our involvement in the Europa could be bad news for our champions League qualification unfortunately Rafa will want to prove he is a top manager by winning a cup or two . An injury to Mata and bad moment part two would be in effect. Oscar would have been better in the pivot than Lampard imo can dictate the pace of play like he did against Leeds but then again it was Leeds.

Hahaha... yeah football could be crazy sometimes.... For me, Luiz wasn't a big problem in yesterday's game, moreover, what better option do we have in the absence of mikel and romeu... Those who should be flogged are the attacking four we fielded for that game (Marin, Oscar, Moses and Torres). I have said and will continue to say, Moses and Marin are not reliable/dependable players yet, maybe in 2 years time they will but for now they are not, so we practically played with one partly reliable attacking player in Oscar as Torres doesn't even exist. Look guys, even if we get the world's best DM and deep-lying play makers and our attacking four play the way they did yesterday, we will still fail to score and probably lose the match... compare our Marin-Moses-Torres to Liverpool's Sterling-Suarez-Downing, not much difference individually but suarez and even little sterling can be relied upon to make things happen, now they've added sturridge to that... manutd's midfield is not exceptional but their attack makes the difference, compare hernandez, RVP, valencia, rooney and A. young with our own attacking players and you will see the difference is they have more than one game changer upfront... Bottom line, our attacking players are too ordinary for now.... only Mata cuts it...

I really don't know what to say, and I won't say I told u so, cos it'll be pointless, what I want cfc to do is 1) get a worthy director of football with hiddink or any other experienced hand, 2) solve the managerial instability, either give rafa a permanent job or give the next manager a 3-5 years,3) we need to tweak our team, sell off the liabilities and bring in world class and hungry players, prune the squad, offcourse its not a knee jerk thing, we should take it a step at a time and do it latest in the coming summer, bayern's squad oozes with class and they prune it every season, compare their current squad with ours and u'll see the difference in class

Our midfield is crap but we are creating bucket full of chances game after game but our #9 either fluffs them or is non existent..as for our pivot,even if we resign makelele,he would flop there with lampard as his partner..we've partnered lampard with virtually everyone and he has made them look terrible courtesy of his lack of pivotal discipline
