Marin Update!

Speculation has appeared in the tabloid press today regarding the Chelsea career of one Marko Marin.

The 23 year-old German has yet to establish himself in the Chelsea starting eleven making a mere five appearances and rumours are rife that he could be making a swift return to the Bundesliga.

One common destination appears to be Bayer Leverkusen with it being hinted that Marin could be loaned to the German club with a view to it being seen as a sweetener for a summer transfer move, in the opposite direction, of Andre Schurrle.

Marko, when pushed on the subject of a return to the Bundesliga, is quoted in the media as having remarked,

"I signed for five years. I`ve been unlucky with injury but there is no reason to call into question everything."

Any interesting situation to keep an eye on we believe!

This lad is pure class and will improve if given game time, the only problem is his injury history, if he can stay fit, I see him as a natural wide man and the best winger we have right now if he stays injury free, there are games where he'll be immense, his end product is better than most that are ahead of him, his only weakness is his stamina and defensive frailties

''The 23 year-old German has yet to establish himself in the Chelsea starting eleven.'' Erm, that's too high an expectation I would say. Unless we'll be hit by an unlucky string of injuries, he will never do that.

I can only assume that Moses's departure for ACON will benefit Marin, though you can never be sure. All any of us can do is evaluate him on the basis of how he performs. He was good in preseason, and thus far he's been clever and dynamic the few times I've seen him play for Chelsea. I get that the competition is fierce, but I also believe in the merit of rotating players. It gives them the rest they require to stay fresh and it boosts the confidence of those who would otherwise sit on the bench. We're a results-driven club but we have got to start trusting more fringe players.

earlydays...I still think he's got somthing to give us...we need to show a bit of patience with this one as Marin needs to build fitness and stay injury free for a considerable period..even though patience as a virtue is very rare as far as our club is concerned...i hope he makes it here we got him cheap and he is young

Just so that some of you have an idea of what type of player Marin is: Think back about a certain Shawn Wright Phillips. The only difference between them is their nationalities. Yes, Marin is definitely a talented player, but his inconsistency combined with his physical fragility will make it impossible for him to break through in an environment that is as competitive as at CFC. I don't believe that Marin was ever meant to be more than an impact sub.

ElMagicoNino - Agree totally..I like his technical abilities...but his physical fragility is a Major problem...I don't really understand his purchase at all...I guess he was plan B if the Hazard deal didn't go through...

Sounds people are losing hope in this guy, what a pity, while a 32 million signing continues to be inconsistent. Sigh!!!!!

he is a class player but i dont believe that he is fragile so he cant establish himself in need to give him chance...without giving him enough chance how can people judge him that he can suceed or not....the poor hasnt played a full 90 minute also then also people are saying he is not good enough...whatever i little bit i saw abiut him this season he is a good enough player and if he gets a decent enough run of play then this guy can defently bench hazard and moses....i think his bad luck was.he got injured before the pl get started i think if he was fit enough that time i think the scenario would had been different....just bad luck....cant belive crap like torres are getting chance after chance and marin and danny struggled to get decent chance also...

@ken4cfc, you better stop fooling yourself, if you think what hazard his playing is why chelsea paid for him, then you must be deluded.

Marins chance to get a few games is once Moses goes out on AFCON..he better seize it because its not going to get any easier for him to get a spot when KDB returns..frankly i think we should have kept KDB and sent Marko on loan but thats a discussion for another day. He needs patience and a fair chance but those are both commodities very short in supply at Chelsea FC. Thankfully there are few coaches who preach and practice the epistle of squad rotation like Rafa..he will get his chance but he better impress..and that means giving 150%..he must be extra special if he hopes to ever get games ahead of guys like hazard, Oscar or even Moses.

@Ken..i think you are being too hard and unfair to Hazard, he is only 21 and this is his first season in the BPL...when C Ronaldo joined Manure, how good was he in the first season?...even Messi, how consistent was he in his first season at Barca and i can also mention out very own DiDI..I dont think he lit the BPL in his first season...sometimes we need to think a bit more carefully about these issues...for me, I have been very satisfied with Hazard...He has shown glimpses of what he can do...and with time, he will mature and become world class...I have no doubt about his this space.!!

@Ken4CFC hazard is a good player.give him time and he will show his talent.he has to improve some aspects of his game but other than that he is by far one of our best players even on his bad day

Agree with GabeU...about KDB as he will provided competition Marin. Moreover, for the Stoke/Everton type physical games I would prefer Oscar in the #10 role for defensive purposes and would move Mata to the right side of the attacking midfield. That would put Moses on the bench...The issue is that Mata becomes invisible as he can't defend the other teams box to box or DM. Furthermore, when Lampard is in the pivot..he over runs Chelsea's #10 position. So watch the positioning between Oscar and Mata today...

Marin played decently against QPR...could have racked in couple of assists, save it for Torres & Moses....Suprised to see him going for tackles and winning balls...risked himself being sent off with stud up tackle (though only one leg)...saw a good pressing game from him, winning a ball and putting oscar clear with a chance which he screwed....

Do you know why Ronaldo is the best winger for the time being? Because he always finds place to play 1-on-1 with opposition fullbacks and he knows that he can take on anyone.Hazard also had that approach when he joined us,but I don't see it any more. All he does is pass over and over again, which despite his numerous assists is not his primary strength. He also doesnt show any effort on the defensive event, which has cost us dearly on several occasions.Marin does not posses Hazard's dribble, but he's got the moves to take on defenders and than to shoot or cross. He's also got an absolutely brilliant vision and he could rack up more than 20 assists for season if he keeps out of injuries and plays more often. The problem with our board is that they assess players by pricetag, not by performance.Roman sees his hefty purchases as trophies and wants them exhibited in front of the whole world week in week out, which is totally messed up and hampers our ambitions.

I just hope rafa gives the lad a chance to prove his worth in moses absence, if he grabs the chance I am sure moses will find it hard to displace him when he gets back and that is when both their qualities will show and believe me it will be good for cfc as they'll both be on their toes, I hate players getting too comfortable and feel as if they are untouchables, if u want to be comfortable in ur position then u must be consistent as messi is!
