'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Will 2012/13 be our worst season in the RA era?

There are quite a number of pointers to this effect:

(1) It is the season we have spent so much on new players

(2) If we bring in a new coach (which we may going by RB performance), it will the season we paid for/got/used the most number of coaches

(3) The season we got knocked out of the CL in the group stage

(4) The season we lost more matches we are supposed to win at home

(5) The season we have the best talent up front (Mata, Hazard, Oscar, Moses etc) yet poor results

(6) The season apart from 07/08 that we lose both Carling now Capitol One and FA Cup (you may say to early to tell but with results this far, we won`t defend the title)

(7) I stand to be corrected but it appears the 2nd time we will struggle to end amongst the top 4 in the EPL (worst though because last season we were at least CL champions)

(8) The season RA faces the most criticism from fans (whether old/new ones)

(9) The season the media have been more critical of players/management

(10) My observation - the season when teams score us, their players faces seem to say 'you guys are rubbish after all' May I also add we have already lost the EPL and with clubs like City, Atletico, Ajax, Zenith, Napoli, Benfica, Tottenham, etc in spectacular form it is safe to say we won`t go far in the Europa campaign except the new faces expected in January offers us something different.

With this observation, my conclusion is that, this will be the season RA and Chelsea fans will wish it gets over quickly.

yes it could be...but its still early for me...we can have this conversation around march...while I am a realist, i still think we can end the season decently... we will still buy one or two more players this winter window...and we have a chance...although what i fear the most is the madness of Tubby's over tinkering the squad which could be sometimes detrimental to any momentum gathered...somtimes i just wish we never hired him, he should be gone at the end of the season going by the results so far...but we'll be fine...i still have faith.

I question 5; given before we had Drogba and now we have Torres.
Pantisocrates
You could be right mate. It's so unfortunate that Rafa is our manager. He's destroying this our beloved club as each day pass by. I just hope we just make it to top 4 otherwise it will be a huge embarrassment for the European champions.
BOTUM
@ layorh12 - keep the faith bruh :) Ok so its half the season gone, and whilst this wont (like last season) turn out to be Chelsea's best season ever despite the start, it could still turn out to be pretty good, considering we all knew that this "Transitioning" period has been coming for a while now. Its a new team and these guys are not winners yet, until they win a major trophy(not the Milk Cup), they wont have this mentality. We need to stick with the board and the team till we get there...For me we have to bring back the special one in the summer for this project.

If tinz continue lyk dz it could be.. Bt i hope z nt so
Topjosh131
roman big mistake this season by bringing rafa..mr wrong and keeping faith in his pet torres to score lots of goal...two bad decesion and we feckedd ourselves..
shlok27
With torres and tubby, no one can argue this.
LeyemovicH
Get Torres out and we might have a fighting chance otherwise forget it, he is taking us down just like he did to Liverpool.

It's a season what we can all learn from I know that. We will be back and fighting. I still think we can turn it around in the c1cup and win the fa cup- isn't that what Chelsea does best, when things are going badly the fa cup is the trophy that we fall back on.
Blue1989
Who cares if win something or not this season, we won the CL last season. Guys all I want is a progressive Chelsea hoping next season or 2 we can win epl or CL again but not with Rafa at the helm. Guys do u think rafa? No he doesn't he doesn't feel our pains like RDM becos he was an ex Chelsea player and also a Chelsea fan. Inter were lucky they got ride of him quick, 100% sure we getting our 10th manager at the end of the season.

With poorres as our main man YES,without him NO

Well Karma they say... We have laid our bed (well actually Roman and the board have) and now we must lie in it. All this trophy talk is the least of our problems. Even if we win a trophy like the Carling Cup or even the FA cup (which i doubt)..the biggest tragedy will be if we dont secure a top 4 finish and that is not as unlikely as i once thought. If we fail on that front next season may be a real horror show because suddenly we will find out what Liverpool and other such clubs have since discovered..once you dont have champions league footie to offer you are suddenly not such an attractive target for top draw talent both from the coaching and player pools.

You could add that it's the season when we chosed to sell or loan out our three CM (Meireles, Essien and McEachran) and replacing them with one CB (Luiz) or the season when we loaned out two of the most promising players DeBruyne and Lukaku just to go ahead and buy Marko Marin and Moses.
Maestrinho
One thing the club should do is push Torres through the exit door if we are to salvage anything this season and bring in a quality striker worthy of the #9 shirt.
Elbowz
Ugh.

I think people are making mountains out of mole hills. Most of our problems can be fixed by signing one or two players. We will not end up like Liverpool unlike them we have a good set of young up and coming talent something Liverpool did not have when Rafa left. Given the circumstances the team has done reasonably well adapting to a new style of play with new young players coming in and all without a recognized striker.
Anarchy
until we move torres on and replace him this will keep going on,no its not a torres witch hunt but the truth even his most ardant supporters must recognise that he just is not going to turn it around he is always on his heals in the box and just compare him to Mr Ba no coparison really is there.simples
herefordchelsea
If u guys think signing 1,2,3,4,5 players will solve the problem, I don't think so, the rot has eaten deep and we need to tear it down and rebuild with hard work on dedication, which our current players lack, let me point out the fact that some of us complained about meireles leaving, but some fans, probably the new ones were saying stuffs as if football in real life is the same as PES, FM or whatever it is, note that the only time we played meireles in the pivot against castle was the only time we were calm and unanimous in praising the team, we sold meireles, loaned out essien who would have been useful, we loaned out KDB who would played a huge part when we were so short of playing personnels and lack of character on the pitch unlike the ballack, drogba and lamps days, apart from the fact that we are unstable with firing managers, which is part of our problems, the huge one is TORRES souless trodgings, but what we haven't noticed or let me put it this way, what we have all ignored is the 4-2-3-1 formation persistence, is this formation suitable for us? Is it suitable for our squad, can we maximize the potential of our attacking talents with this formation? That is where we ought to delve into and look critically at, rdm failed to get the right combo, fast forward the tactical nous rafa benitez, we are still in the same problem, quagmire, dillemma, whatever u chose to call it.
Desmondadonis
Almost every fan wanted Meireles shipped out, the management did, now we want him back... If he comes back and gives a below par performance in just two games fans will start shouting again.... Meireles is bad, he can't pass, he's useless..... we fans are funny! Bottom line, the management cannot satisfy the entire fan base....
Latunvic
Not almost ev ery fan wanted meireles out, any fan with an ounce of brain won't be fast to want him out with the stellar performance he had for portugal, eclipsing moutinho in some games in the midfield, the management were the one that shiped him out to accomodate some of our new buys, bottom line now is that we lack depth, character and commitment on the pitch
Desmondadonis
At the euros* and his contribution against castle last year few days before he was sold, if the fans wanted him out, they won't give him that round of applause when he was subbed
Desmondadonis
Torres won the golden boot at the euros, does it make him any different at chelsea??
Ken4CFC
Stupid question when u consider the point given, mereiles was pivotal for portugal's run and was involved in all their games giving his best, was torres starting? his goals where coming most times when their game was already won, his impact if they ask any fan with any ounce of football knowledge is minimal compared to mereiles, besides, its not comparing torres or mereiles, its noting that we might have shot ourselves in the foot by mereiles sale, essien loan or kdb
Desmondadonis
Sorry about that* it wasn't meant to be insultive
Desmondadonis
I understand mate..nw to the issue, meireles bein instrumental to portugal has nothing to do with chelsea..he was a panic buy as we couldnt get our top target modric, his stay here was very inconsistent,he gives away the ball easily courtsey of his stupid longballs, although he scored some crackin goals..fans were starting to call for his head as he has been a liabily but rdm made him useful courtsy of the park the bus tactics against barca..bottom line is apart from the trophies he had a poor season and his lacklustre performance continued in pre season, the only decent game he had was the Ncastle game which if we are sincere to ourself was a tale of one half(1st half)..he was almost murdered by ben arfa in the 2nd half as ben arfa mesmerized the midfield with superior skillset..dont be deceived by the applaud he got when subbed it was largely due to lamps(legend) comin on
Ken4CFC
I'll try and look for the match day moment article, maybe u'll see it in another light mate, thank u though
Desmondadonis
Ok,wish u all the best
Ken4CFC
Note that i didnt say he had a poor game
Ken4CFC
I do not think it will be
