Cole Puts Pen to Paper

It had been inferred that Ashley Cole and Chelsea Football Club were close to agreeing a new on year deal over the weekend.

Today the talented left back did put pen-to-paper on that new deal and has remarked to the media, in an interview,

A commendable attitude Ashley!

I am really happy about this bcos our replacement in bertie is not showing that he can displace cole anytime soon, so doing this is fine by me, but we have to recall PVA and see if he can displace ashley next season, before we splash out blindly next summer

Congrats Ashley...congrats chelsea...excellent decision...

Its official.... The chelsea website have amounced Ashley cole's contract extension. The board are not as clueless as most members here claim. They obviously have a plan and are sticking to it. We re indeed a squad in transition and the board are gradually shreding the old guard. Lamps, hilario and paulo to leave this summer while terry, cech and cole would be retained to provide the leadership while the squad elvolve....

Great news.

Sorry for my typo errors.... @desmond ryan would get better. Another year as cole's understudy would definately help him mature and improve. He may have been struggling as a winger(though he still does his duty of protecting the leftback when playing as a winger), he has however shown he has the talent and quality to be a good leftback. I dont think PVA is as good as ryan but he is making excellent progress and would be better served to continue his loan spell(maybe this time at an epl club) than come warm the bench as a second understudy to cole.

Really, REALLY pleased. We know who should be next now

Good one..... very commendable act, thumbs up to A. Cole!

Great news. Would be great to bring back PVA next season so the battle for the successor and backup to Cole can be be decided between him and Ryan. LB is one area i dont think we should be buying anyone for the near future.

Has anyone been able to follow Kalas? I know he isn't an LB, but I don't regularly have access to the Dutch league. He struck me as a promising player. I wonder about PVA as well, though it seems that Ryan has won that battle. I wonder about Bruma too! Plenty of defensive talent, though who knows if we'll ever use them.

Awesome news!

@Radio.... Kalas and PVA are doing very well with their club in holland and they are the club first choice fullbacks right from the begining of the season. Kalas has transformed from a centre-back to a fine class fullback. Kakuta too has broken into the team and scored last week. However i think kakuta wont make it at chelsea. With the attacking talent at chelsea, he wont stand a chance. He might want to leave in the summer. Same goes for Bruma. PSV wants him back but hamburg wants to keep him till summer before deciding.

Its unfortunate that chelsea with all the roman's investment in in the academy project are yet to produce any fruit(except for bertrand). Those golden generation that got promoted in the summer of 2010 really gave us hope. The blame should go to arnesen and the coaching instability. The present DOF is committed to the youth project and has been taking the loan system very serious. AlMost all of our most promising youngsters out on loan are getting quality play time and making good progress. Atleast 2 or 3 of them should be able to get into the first team next season. Any two of lukaku, KDB, kalas, PVA, Josh and piazon should be in the 1st team next season and be given the opportunity to claim their stalk. They re our best young players. Chalobah is not far off that list too. Then talk about courtois.... Since valdes anounced he would be leaving barca, Courtois stock and value have doubled. A 19year old promising goalkeeper that we signed 18months ago for £7.9million is now worth around £20million... Yes... Thats what utd paid for De Gea and courtois have proven to be in that class.
