Courtois to Hold Talks!

Courtois to Hold Talks!

Talk of Thibaut Courtois being courted by the Catalan giants of Barcelona appears to have stirred up something of a hornets nest.

It`s now being reported that Chelsea have invited the twenty year-old for talks, next month, to discuss his future.

The scenario given by several news sources is that these talks are intended to prove to Thibaut that his future lies at Chelsea and that the club won`t be accepting any offers from other clubs.

With Petr Cech in fine form, there may be an argument for letting Courtois stay at Atletico Madrid for another season, although, as we`ve stated in the past, our cover for Cech remains a worrying situation if Petr was to pick up an injury.

We cant sell hm unless its 60mil
23/01/2013 16:54:00
he aint going nowhere...he has been unbelievable in the last two games...making successive triple saves twice!!!....he has got everything..'ll say double his salaries and and tell barca, Madrid or whoever to fess off...!
23/01/2013 16:58:00
This will be bit tricky...He is great asset but not sure when he will be our no 1. Next year, he will be again on loan and would complete 3rd year in his contract. It would be best that the club extend his contract with better terms so that he doesn't leave the club.
23/01/2013 17:12:00
What a great keeper he already is. He must be tied to Chelsea as we can't easily get an alternative from the market. He is surely worth about £20M now.
23/01/2013 17:16:00
i think his initial contract was for 3 years....i hope that does not come back to bite us...Common son, dont do a sturidge!!!..
23/01/2013 17:17:00
This guy is priceless. Don't quote figures at all. He's going to replace Petr sooner rather than later and i think he should be loaned to a premier league club, say Everton for more experience.
23/01/2013 17:19:00
@Botum...Everton will be a terrible choice...they've got a very stable keeper in Howard...''ll rather he follows Hart's shoes and gets loaned to lower bottom permier league team...where he will be severely tested...that will accelarate his understanding of the nature of the english game...before we start talking about where to loan him, we first need to tie him to a longer contract first...
23/01/2013 17:22:00
Barca u want him? ohh simple we dont need your money so bring messi, thiago and tello, and u will have him for FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
23/01/2013 17:23:00
I would rather sell Cech and start Courtouis than sell Courtoius for anything less than 35mill
23/01/2013 17:33:00
@ layorh i think his contract was for 5 years if memory serves...anyway the boy is ready to play at chelsea...Bring him back to compete for his place at least for next season...he will have to come off the bench in some games but we need him to be our no 2. He should start all the cup games for and i'm sure he'll be happy with least for now
23/01/2013 17:48:00
Wikipedia.... "On 14 July 2011, Genk agreed a fee with Premier League club Chelsea for Courtois. On 26 July 2011, Chelsea confirmed on their website that the transfer of Courtois was finalised and that he had signed a five-year contract with the club"
23/01/2013 17:51:00
@layorh I think he signed a 5 and a half year deal, if we are smart, we should extend that deal by another 5 years, I don't by the crap that we can't have 2 quality keepers at a time in a team, let both him, cech, jamal be our keepers
23/01/2013 17:59:00
i will bring him next season and will start and rotate him with chech.....its high time for him to start at chelses...he has played at the highest level wit atmadrid ...won europa league won club super cup....played against barcelona real madrid played against messi xavi ronaldo....what else he should to get a start in chelsea...and people will still say he is not ready for cant understand the logic of word Ready.....for us he is not ready but for other club he is perfect and ready for the big role...
23/01/2013 18:00:00
@Johnny and @ Desmond...I am sure my memory was playing a fast one on me...breathing a sigh of guys are fantastic...!!!!...thanks...then we dont have much worries...just like what @Desmond said...the club should just increase his wages and give him additional five years...the guy will practically be in bondage...good bondage..looool!!!!...
23/01/2013 18:07:00
As i have been begging for some time..get him out of lalliga this summer..i would elect to bring him home to rotate with cech to push cech..he could be our cup keeper while cech is the BPL and champions league keeper the way Stoke did with Begovic and Schwarzer till Begovic finally took up the number one spot after a few years. I also like the loaning idea to a lower rung BPL club..but we need to get him out of la liga because there are hungry sharks there..apart from Barca Atletico are quickly seeing him as theirs and will likely try to tie any Falcao deal with their keeping him,..then there is the Real Casillas mess..the boy needs to be taken out of La liga the next chance we get.
23/01/2013 18:33:00
Why do u guys think that an outstanding 20year old goalkeeper who has proven himself in the past 18months to be a future worldclass would agree to come back to chelsea and play second fiddle to cech when he is already being courted by the barca, the best club in the world. The truth here is that chelsea have sensed a real possibility of losing him to barca hence the proposal to sort out his future next month. The advantage for us is that he still have 3years on his existing deal so we hold out on that; double his wages, commit him to a new 5year deal and for the sake of stability(which is crucial for a young keeper) send him out on another straight 2year loan deal at a top club where he can continue to be 1st choice keeper or can even continue at atlectico. That would help sweeten our summer move for falcao. As long as he remains a chelsea player, no problem.

If he leaves , I will lose all hope in our board.
23/01/2013 18:39:00
we need to add atleast 2/3 more years to his contract before loan him to a PL club.
23/01/2013 18:42:00
Courtois looks like the real thing--another elite keeper. Chelsea has a strange dilemma, especially because top keepers are so rare. Cech is fairly young for his position and has several years to go, so I suspect the club will first extend Courtois' contract, give him a bump in pay, and loan him inside the BPL. That pay rise may have to be considerable to shield him from Barca or another top club. I don't see why Courtois wouldn't be linked to a number of sides, and I suspect he will be if that contract isn't extended soon. I can't fathom a CFC side without Cech in the next few years, but it very well may happen. Youth over experience and potential is the new ethos at the club. I can't disagree with it if the club finds the right balance, but Cech is still elite. It's an impossible call to make right now.
