Cole on Being Blue!

When it was announced at the weekend that Ashley Cole had agreed anew deal with Chelsea but hadn`t put pen-to-paper, there was always the fear that something might still go amiss.

Thankfully that didn`t happen and Ashley put pen-to-paper on a new deal yesterday afternoon, thereby confirming that his future does, indeed, lie at Stamford Bridge.

Cole, who has been at Stamford Bridge since 2005, is widely recognized as one of, if not, the best in his position in the world, clearly enjoys life at Stamford Bridge, remarking about his tenure in SW6,

"I have been able to fulfill nearly all my ambitions at Chelsea."

"I have won the Champions League, the Premier League and FA Cups here."

"But you don`t want to stop winning trophies and, being at a big club, you are always fighting to win a trophy."

"I have great memories at Chelsea, I wanted to stay because we are always challenging for trophies. That desire and the will to want to win things has not gone."

I bet he`s glad he made that decision to leave Arsenal!

Good decision by the club to keep such a world class defender.

The amount of trophies he won after he left arsenal is amazing , talk about good career choices , it's funny 'cause arsenal fans still boo him after 7 years , 7 trophyless years I might say...(*wink* *wink*)

Still a top player and one who can help to balance the inexperience of our young squad. I hope this is the start of a trend in which senior players are offered--and accept--the 1-year extensions. I know that want more, but if this is the way the club chooses to handle such contracts, maybe Cole will set a good example.

I know that *these players* want more...

I am happy he extended, some would be infuriated that he got a new deal, but the truth is, he is the best we have for now, and if bertie and PVA want to play for chelsea for a long time then they need to work harder to displace him come next season
